I have been experiencing a numbness sensation in me left jaw. Only when I eat, though. Something in the left side of my face swells up and when I touch it, it feels almost numb. This has been going on for more than 6 mos. But, now just last night, my jaw has started hurting. I can forget about yawning b/c the more I open it the more it hurts. I can eat but my bites have to be small. This is really wierd to me. I don't know where to go for this. Dentist, Oral DR, Ear, nose, mouth?
I have been experiencing slight numbness, more of a tingling sensation on the right tip of my tongue when i yawn or open my jaw really wide. I don't have chronic numbness or any pain. I do have occasional ear pain. My dentist took a Panoramic xray, but it turned out a bit grainy. He states he has never heard of tingling in the tongue when yawning, he thinks it is nothing. I am unsure as to where to go now. Please help me.

ll stop making the crackling sound for a little bit when pressed again. Also getting pretty sharp pain by the ear and jaw area when yawning recently. If I press it torward my throat a bit, it'll hurt my throat. The doctors tell me it's mostly from smoking and stress. I also have a bit harder time swallowing saliva on that side, which the unaffected side I can feel the right side perfectly. Ever since this has been an issue , I have had a pretty sore neck as well.
m thinking it could be TMJ - which is a disorder of the jaw joint. It can cause many symptoms, including ear or jaw pain, as well as headaches, etc.
Do you ever catch yourself clenching your jaw? Does your jaw crack or catch when you try to open it wide, such as with yawning?
I would suggest starting with your family doctor - just to rule out any infection in the ear, however, if it is TMJ, the best person to treat it would be yoru dentist or oral surgeon.

I have severe throat pain on left side mainly underneath jaw and at bottom of throat. Seems to be set off by acidic foods, or swallowing bulky rough items. I have never had a sore throat like this before -- I have no other symptoms no cold, no runny nose, no cough etc. It has not gotten any better after a kind of 2 day onset 6 days ago. Yawning really hurts severely.
The place where you are describing on the side of your cheek bone may have the pain stemming from your left TMJ (jaw joint). Do you notice any pain with talking, chewing, yawning or even any popping or clicking in your left jaw joint with movement?
If the vein is pulsating pain in surges, you may consider whether you might be experiencing a migraine headache. Eyes can water from pain, but they can also water from allergies too.
A few days ago, on Tuesday I felt my left side of throat hurt when swallowing and yawning and the pain kind of went all the way from the side of my throat to my left ear, I then took medications and put on some gels and the throat part of it fixed, now my left ear just really hurts from the inside when swallowing, yawning and a little bit when talking. Can anyone tell me what this is? Thanks! Also to mention i have no fever, no dizziness, it's just the ear pain.
I too have difficulty yawning,I start to yawn and can't complete it,it just shuts down and I feel like I can't take a deep breath.sometimes chest and back pain, It takes me 2 or 3 trys to complete a yawn. I have had numerous tests,blood work,cat scans of chest,abdomen,head,cardiac stress,profusion scans,chest xrays,all were normal. I have no allergies.What could be causing this in my case?
I have been on Sertraline (Zoloft) for over 2 months now, for depression that's borderline bipolar, and I am still yawning and have gotten TMJ. I also keep having to take deep breaths until I can't take in any more air- not yawning-; I am clenching my jaw a lot still and having to open my mouth as wide as I can- again, not yawning- which makes me look a liiiiittle crazy! Anyone know of anything that might stop or alleviate these problems?
i have this small in between very light chest pain on the left side and it sometimes feel like spreadin but otherwise at one particular region and it happends like that and it is like a different kind of pain and when yawning or coughing sometimes it feels increased after yawning or caughing and its like a poking kind of pain. it comes sometimes and goes like that.
I also have alot of pain and tightness in the jaws in the mornings and it takes a while for me to be able to fully open my mouth. There is pain with chewing, yawning, talking and side movements of my jaw. I have also been getting alot of pretty bad headaches, I wake up in the middle of the night at times due to headaches and usually always have one when I awaken in the mornings.
s no sensitivity to hot/cold, no pain when bite down with no food in mouth, no pain at all EXCEPT when bite down on any food, yawn, or move jaw from side to side. My dentist has adjusted the bite, and says it's not that. He then said might be pulpitis, but not the usual full array of symptoms for that. Could it be mechanical stress? As bridge too large and not flexing with mandible? Any other possibilities?
The pain is more intense when trying to bend too forward or lying on my stomach. I have no pain in my jaw or anywhere in my left arm or shoulder. I am not feeling sick or fatigued. There is no sign of fever, cold or chill.I don't have constipation, diarrhea, or any other stomach upset or pain.I have no headache or dizziness. I am suffering from chronic sinusitis from two years. There is no swelling or change of colour on the location of pain.
ve been getting pressue and headaches located primarily in my left temple which I think is caused by the clenching and grinding. Unfortunately, there are times when that headache pain kicks my anxiety in because I start to believe that it's something much worse.
It is comforting to know that others get the same symptoms.
