694164 tn?1333149588 Margypops, The worst possible thing you can do is to shave-this blunting the edge of hair growth causing the feeling thicker courser hair. Hence why men get stubble! Ok you have 2 options-Laser which effectively burns from the hair follicle(the root) As long as there is growth this can be performed. This is done correctly will work for you although you have to keep with it.
Avatar f tn I was told that once the hair folical is activated, it does not go away. I would have to get laser hair removal done. I hope that this helps you. Good luck!
Avatar n tn this is the worst b/c i have to break the skin a little to get to the hair to pluck it. a couple times i had to use a sewing needle to get it. it almost always leaves a little scarring when this happens. not much but a little, it usually goes away in a couple days, but half the time by then anothers popped out. sometimes i can see a little black dot in one of the...pores? i guess, around the nipple.
Avatar m tn my kidney stone story is long. but will try to make short. wanted to comment bc i saw jellyfishguy from oct 3 2009. my story is similar. i have had three procedures. two lithotripsy's and one laser lithotripsy. the last laser was 9 months ago. and i am still having pain . have had ultrasounds , xrays, kub's. had a second opinion in sfo which was a waste of time (they basically said i looked constipated in my xrays and i should go home and poo and maybe the pain would go away!@ really?
Avatar n tn In January my doctor sent me to a surgeon to discuss removal of my gallbladder. After she examined me she sent me to the emergency room and they did a cat scan and found a large pelvic mass. The ER called the next day and had me come back in for an ultra-sound and the doctor said they could not rule out a malignancy. I am 45 years old. They did the surgery within a week where they removed the ovaries and fallopian tubes and the mass.
Avatar n tn I must say, I am affected by this as well! I have been told to wash about 3 times a day, with an antibacterial soap, and, don't use a razor with more than 2 blades to avoid too close of a shave. I too have tried so many things and talk to many doctors! Nothing they have told me has helped. But, I have an Aunt who went to a dermatologist, she had to show this "ingrown hair" to him. Then he prescribed (sp?) clyndomyacin phosphate lotion for her to apply as needed!
Avatar n tn Fortunately a OB/GYN had come in that evening and explained the diagnosis, for which there is no other alternative to surgical removal. A laparoscopy was not a viable option due to the size of the cyst, so that's why a laparotomy was the best way to go. The doctor said the procedure would take 1 hour but I woke up 3 hours from the last time I looked at the clock.
162948 tn?1205256292 I had the mirena in for about 13 months & had it removed end of august to try to get pregnant. I had thought it was more immediate. I found out it can take 3-6 months for your cycle to return. my husband and I are pretty bummed because we would have removed it earlier (or never had it put in). Anyway, I bled a few days after removal (probably due to the removal) & then nothing until a couple days of brown spotting at the beginning of this month.
Avatar n tn But I too cannot wait till I can afford laser hair removal.
Avatar n tn I may have gained a little weight (less than 5 pounds) but unsure because waiting for the bloating and now period to stop to know for sure. Havent had my hair fall out and to my surpise my skin is actually staying very clear. My sex drive has definitely increased as well. I'm 31 y/o. I hope this helps you ladies...
377493 tn?1356505749 I have to have it removed. This is done through laser, but is a bit more complicated then I had orginally been led to believe. It means an overnight stay in the hospital, I will be put out, and my Dr. tells me a fair bit of pain afterward. I am scheduled to have this done Jan. 13th. Now, they wouldn't have done it if my pregnancy had continued, but due to the outcome, my OB/GYN thinks I should proceed and get it over with.
485259 tn?1519050626 Hubby will help if he has to but I hate to have to ask him to do that....poor guy...lol. My biggest concern with that is that my surgery is a "Lap assisted vaginal hysterctomy". Not sure yet if they will be able to do what they need to do with only the lap incisions...therefor they may have those as well as an abdominal incision. Not to mention what ever they do vaginally....yikes...lol. All I know for sure is it is gonna be major either way and I will deal with it either way.
613870 tn?1221108560 I had laser hair removal a bunch of times... The hard core permanent stuff... It didn't work.. They say PCOS causes resistance therefore laser treatment doesn't work so well...
233488 tn?1310696703 In addition to cataracts and AMD, sun exposure can lead to lesions and tumors that may be cosmetically unappealing and frequently require surgical removal. Damage to the eyes from UV light is not confined to the outdoors; it is also a concern with indoor tanning beds. “Ultraviolet radiation levels to the eye are much greater in a tanning booths than outside in the sun,” says Michael Kutryb, MD, an ophthalmologist in Titusville, FL, and a clinical correspondent for the Academy.
Avatar f tn My derm said something about follicular and eczema, but I did not get to ask many questions at that time. My skin is not overly dry and the single bumps are not hard and I cannot see a hair in them. I am already using dye/fragrance free soaps, lotions and detergents. It seems like a new bump appears daily. Any thoughts?
948349 tn?1294383837 I tried answering questions but I'm pooped now. Please feel free to ask me any questions, I can relate to acne 100% since I have lived with it as well. The normal person who usually answers questions in the acne forum seems to not be answering questions anymore... : ( I don't have all the time in the world but I'll be sure to get back posting here.
Avatar n tn Such Intense pain is so hard to deal with when you have no idea what it is! If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Its nice to have other women to chat with who are going through the same thing. I hope you feel better.
Avatar f tn I've actually just recently gotten laser hair removal on several areas on my body just because I really don't like body hair. I've been on 1500mg of Metformin since February 2007 and I have conceived both times we've tried with intrauterine insemination. The reason I was told I couldn't get pregnant on my own is because having PCOS, I don't ovulate. I have periods if I take Prometrium each month or if I'm on birth control.
948349 tn?1294383837 If you or anyone has any other issues feel free to ask me questions, I can't promise I'll have the answer but I sure will research it for you and find one or point you in the right direction. This is a passion as well as an obsession of mine. I want people to enjoy there live without the side effects of our society's negligence. If you only knew the half of it, well now i'm rambling because I have so much to share on the subject because it can go in so many directions.
Avatar n tn I've recently started shaving my chest, but find I have to do it about every other day, and even then the hair is so dark that you can see it under the skin (I have fair skin) after shaving. I am considering laser hair removal... but I don't really want to be a hairless nit, I just want LESS of it.... except on my head of course where I am losing it! It really IS a sick joke!
Avatar m tn If the infection doesn't go away or keeps coming back, laser hair removal may be an option. Laser treatment destroys the hair follicles so they can't get infected. How can you prevent folliculitis? There are many things you can do to prevent folliculitis or keep it from spreading. Bathe or shower daily with a mild soap. Also, bathe or shower after you exercise and after you work around chemicals. Avoid sharing towels, washcloths, or other personal items.
Avatar m tn I have not considered electrolysis, though I would certainly be open to laser hair removal or any other removal of the hair follicles along the vermillion border. My hair is not very curly. I am a white male, and my hair is thick and dark. I do try to steam my face once in a while, though I just place my face above a pot of boiling water so as to open the pores. I am apprehensive about using a compress, as I don't want to have a wash cloth or anything else directly on my face.
363243 tn?1331037450 Hi coco727272, I was recently diagnosed with PCOS. I am not African American, I am of Sicilian decent. I also have had problems with hursutism. I had something called laser hair removal on my face to remove upper lip hair, chin, neck and "sideburn" hair. It is really very effective and permanently removes hair as the laser kills the hair's root. You'll probably always have some hairs because you can grow new ones at any time in your life but it kills the hairs that are there.
Avatar n tn I am going next week to consult with her pediatric Surgeon to do biopsy so we can be sure to proceed with Laser Procedure.
Avatar n tn ) I know I appreciate it, and hopefully your partner does too ;) As far as laser hair removal goes, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to get that down, unless there are certain risks that go with the area. Your best bet would be to call in and find out.
Avatar n tn Have you spoke to a Doctor about preventative messures? I had a few round of laser hair removal which stopped new ones appearing for a good 6 months. In the short term, if they are rubbing on underwear, do you cover it with a padded dressing to relieve the friction? I imagine this is quiet stessful as a new mum, just remember it is treatable and there is ways to manage so you are not always in discomfort. Good luck!
233488 tn?1310696703 Omega 3 helps dry skin, dry mouth and dry hair. This also often takes 3-6 months to get maximum benefit and needs to be continued. Important to understand NO IMPROVEMENT MAY OCCUR FOR 4-6 MONTHS. Both Restasis and Omega 3 are normally taken for life. A recent study stating fish oil increased risk of prostate cancer in men is wrong. Omega 3 does NOT increase the risk of prostate cancer *See Missouri Medicine medical journal July/August 2013.
374593 tn?1257883550 The doctor makes a tiny incision in your abdomen and inserts a laparascope (a small camera) to scan your organs for evidence of Endometriosis. If Endometriosis is found, they will either use a laser to burn it off, or they will do excision surgery and cut it out. • Laser Surgery during a Laparascopy can be performed as an outpatient surgery. During a Laparascopic Surgery the doctor will burn off the Endometriosis sites that he/she sees.
Avatar n tn On my first visit there I had a consultation with a lady that does the laser treatments in the spa. I informed her that I was currently using the Yag laser for hair removal somewhere else, and was looking for something that would keep me hair free longer than a month, so I would not have to get a laser treatment every single month.
