Avatar n tn I did laser hair removal about two weeks ago on my lip, toes, and underarm. I love it - I have not shaved my armpits during this time and only have a few thin hairs there. My lip is a little better but they said the lip is hard to treat and can require a few treatments. I used Hair Today Gone Tomorrow and they were pretty affordable. Good Luck!
Avatar n tn Laser hair removal is a misnomer. It should be termed laser hair reduction. Multiple treatments are necessary because the treatment is only effective when the hair follicles are at a certain growth stage, and only a per cent of hairs in the treated area can be effectively eliminated at the time of laser therapy. You will obviously require additional treatment, but do not expect 100% reduction in hair growth.
Avatar n tn Hello, There are various methods like shaving, bleaching, depilatory creams, electrolysis or laser hair removal are available to remove the hair.Out of all these laser hair removal is the most long lasting.Nd YAG laser is very effective in long term reduction of hair.Risks include the chance of burning the skin or discoloring dark skin with the laser, hypopigmentation (white spots), and flare of acne. Pls consult a dermatologist/cosmetologist and discuss this with him/her. Hope it helps.
Avatar f tn Okay, this is really embarassing. I'm starting my first session of laser hair removal this weekend. I've never had it done, but as I'm very hairy, it's about time!!! ha ha! Has anyone had it before? And is it really effective? I have dark hair, so suppsedly I'm like the best candidate. The techs have been very adament about saying that they're not allowed to call it permanent, but they say that they're confident I'll love the results. All I really care about are the dark, nasty man hairs.
Avatar n tn Facial spider veins in particular were once difficult to treat, but lasers and IPL have made it effortless. Laser spider vein removal has become the leading treatment for spider veins because of its versatility and ease with eliminating smaller and medium sized spider veins. ref:http://www.veintreatmentforum.com/vein-conditions.cfm?proc=Spider-Veins&detail=Y The skin manifestations of Synthroid are hair loss, flushing. Any medication has the potential to cause an allergic reaction.
Avatar f tn Hi, I went to laser hair removal last Friday for the first session and I left with red spots (1-2mm diameter). I didn't get any sun but on the following day instead of disappearing they got brown. The esthetician used power 25, don't know whether that is too strong. I called her on Saturday and she said to do not use soap, but I had already had a shower. Will this disappear? what should i do? I first put on my skin aloe vera gel 99.9% and now i'm using organic rosehip oil on the spots.
Avatar n tn Dr., When I choose a place to perform my laser surgery for hair removal what should I look for as far as procedure/equipment? Some offices use different types of lasers and some use a carbonite "salve" to be applied beforehand to help "tag" the hairs and then again some do not. How is anyone to know what the differences are and which ones are better?
Avatar n tn Hello, There are 5 types of laser hair removal systems. These include pulsed light, Nd YAG laser, diode laser. Alexanderite laser and ruby laser. This depends on the skin type and varies from patient to patient. I suggest you to get an evaluation done from a dermatologist for the skin type and then depending on that, laser hair removal can be decided.
Avatar f tn My derm advised me to seek laser hair removal, but now I am worried that laser hair removal will just make matters worse, which I just cannot handle. He said that laser hair removal is superior to electrolysis, but stories like this tell otherwise. I read that IPL damages darker skin tones because it does not do a good job in differentiating melanin in hair follicles and melanin in skin, so it damages the surrounding skin. Did all of you ladies have IPL performed on your skin?
1178131 tn?1282658419 Since every month my Aunt shows w/o fail, with her ugly face, and understandably shatters me, making me think this will never happen etc, (I am getting into this routine every month LOL) I wanted to concentrate on few things that I had been putting off because of possible pregnancy, which btw doesn't seem to happen anytime, GRRRR anyway, on of which is facial hair removal. Did you ladies hear from any docs if it is harmless to do some electrolysis or Laser?
Avatar n tn Hello, Legs are the best place for laser hair removal. Within 3 treatments you will achieve smooth, ingrown free legs and at least 50 percent of hair reduction will be achieved. The first 3 treatments may have to be 6 to 8 weeks apart usually but best way to estimate your treatment dates is to observe the new hair growth. The subsequent treatment is usually 4 to 6 weeks after the previous treatment. When you start to see new stubble (new hair growth), you can make an appointment within the week.
Avatar f tn I used a hair removal cream on my face more than a year ago. After i used the cream, i got a serious reaction from it. some of my skin peeled and burned. From the peeling and burning, it has left dark brown marks on my face which i cannot get rid of. I have tried products like bio oil and a skin lightening cream, but these have not been effective. I get breakouts on my skin very often and i have acne and rosacea. My skin used to be completely clear before i used the hair removal cream.
Avatar m tn Other treatment options include electrical cautery, surgical removal, Carbon dioxide laser treatment and electrodesiccation. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn I am interested in laser hair removal, but have read a lot where it is not permanent and hair can regrow in lighter so when you go to get the removal done again it's not effective due to the color of the hair. My menstrual cycle is very unpredictable. Most of the time it is very light and lasts a couple days to lasting a month and very heavy. My hair is thinning on my head. On my legs you can see my pores. Looks like chicken skin.
Avatar f tn As for hair removal I have stopped shaving completely . When I was going for my laser hair removal treatments it seemed to spread them . So I have taken a break from that . I have started using Nair only when absolutely necessary , with the hair removal creams you have to rub or scrape the hair off it definitely irritates them and pop up smaller warts . Definitely frustrating .
Avatar n tn If you have a lot of hair, the most effective way (though it is a little expensive) is laser hair removal. See the dr.first and then work out how to handle the hair. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn There could be several reasons for this (I myself have the same problem). Due to the continued irritation even after changing methods and products, I think that the likely cause of your condition may be due to dry skin or eczema and probably sensitive skin to top all that off. I agree with the previous comment about laser hair removal, as the itching is probably due to the hairs pricking against your skin as it grows out.
Avatar n tn i want to know about the new home laser hair removal machines?? which is best? and how can i use it?? is it effective as the ones professional using??

Avatar n tn I wanted to know what treatment is more recommended by doctors for hair removal: laser or IPL? Also- is it possible performing any of them during pregnancy?
Avatar f tn If you really are seeking for a long-term or permanent process, you could always look into laser removal. Just be careful because there is always the chance of something going wrong. My cousin used to shave her arms until the hair on top became super thick and she just wanted to get rid of it. She went in for laser surgery and they burned her skin - now she has a horrible white scar on the top of her arm.
Avatar f tn It is necessary to keep the area free of hair and infection. Laser pilation of hair in adjoining area is also necessary along with the surgery to close the sinus. If your son is a smoker, he needs to stop smoking to facilitate healing. Also check if he has diabetes. This could be the cause for low grade infection resulting in recurrence.
Avatar n tn Tretament with drugs is not useful. Even so, laser hair removal is a job, and it can be expensive. There are many good lasers available. My advice is to comparison-shop: look around for a reputable laser-tretament center, with well-qualified personnel and reasonable prices. At the end of the day, you are likely to be much happier with your body than you are now. Good luck. Dr.
Avatar n tn It may be very discomforting. If these seem to recur, I would suggest that you inquire about the benefits of laser hair removal from your dermatologist. This may be more expensive and may even require repeated sessions but the procedure may be more effective as it stops hair growth.
