Avatar n tn Hi Doctor, I am a 27 year old caucasian male, and I am very close to scheduling a 4-session laser hair removal appointment to get the hair taken off my back and shoulders. I am a good candidate, as I have light skin and dark, coarse hair. The only thing really concerning me at this point is the potential long-term side effects - in particular, the possibility of the treatment causing skin cancer down the road.
Avatar f tn I have a 40 year old friend with similar coloring (pretty fair complexion and curly, dark thick hair). She had one laser hair removal treatment at the same spa which has resulted in the same defined dark discoloration on the upper lip after sun exposure. I have read if the incorrect setting or laser type is used for a patient's skin tone and hair type it can cause hyperpigmentation. I think this is supposed to be a temporary side effect; not long lasting.
162948 tn?1205256292 I had the mirena in for about 13 months & had it removed end of august to try to get pregnant. I had thought it was more immediate. I found out it can take 3-6 months for your cycle to return. my husband and I are pretty bummed because we would have removed it earlier (or never had it put in). Anyway, I bled a few days after removal (probably due to the removal) & then nothing until a couple days of brown spotting at the beginning of this month.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know what the dangers of pulsed co2 laser are ? Any idea of the age a child should wait until to have this done ?
Avatar m tn The bottom line is there is no cure and the docs do not really seem to care maybe since only a small amount of people have this, unless you consider laser hair removal a cure or so I was told by the docs, but I like having my hair. Just have to deal, I guess. Less stress = less outbreaks. I find the problem is greatly reduced during a nice stress free vacation. I am currently taking Solodyn, it helped for about 2 weeks and then I had another severe outbreak.
Avatar n tn Regarding the hair loss, when I started going through menopause at age 47 I would find a hair ball in the shower. Lasted for a while and then stopped. I've read that hair loss can be attributed to a lack of estrogen. So not sure if you're at that age or not. Hair loss is also a symptom that some people with lupus deal with. I've had some estrogen issues just recently and have noticed my skin is a lot drier than usual, probably a result of the lowering estrogen.
1006035 tn?1485579497 There is supposed to be a new surgical method that is supposed to be less painful for recovery but it is very costly as it is a laser surgery. That being said we have two cats and they both are *not* declawed. However I'm not opposed to getting it done if they were to turn those claws on my children. I'm all for providing a loving, caring home for my pets but they my CHILDREN come first.

Avatar f tn I then went and got Laser Hair removal done on my lower legs and since its been done I haven'rt had a single itch. The girl doing the laser treatment said my hair was growing back at an odd angle every time I shaved and it was causing the irritation and I made it worse by scratching. The relief when I got it done was unreal.
Avatar n tn I no longer can us a razor to shave because the after effects are too hard to cope with, I have since switched to the hair removal creams and although it helps a little it doesnt eliminate it altogether. I cant take anymore, it gets so bad it drives me to tears. Anyone in the same boat with the stabbing/acid being poured on your skin feeling?
Avatar n tn - anxiety, panic attacks, heart palpitations and fluttering - depression - excessive weight gain - hair loss *I already have a prob. with depression, anxiety and panic attacks, so I am currently on medication. (Will be weaned off if not good during the pregnancy - just wanted you to know I am thinking it all through:) *It is one thing to gain maybe 5 lbs. or to gain weight when pregnant. Avatar f tn I never really felt any better though and so the only thing that happened was that any time I told someone I did not feel good, they thought it was all in my head. Little by little, I lost muscle strength and became more and more fatigued. My hair started falling out, I had some joint pain, etc. all my lab work kept coming back normal, however, so no one thought anything was really wrong with me. This past January, I was under a tremendous amount of stress.
Avatar n tn The oxygen resulted in Retinopathy of prematurity, which was treated with laser surgery to both eyes. He was in hospital for 97 days. My son is now 6 YEARS OLD, & very healthy. He wears glasses only for distance and has never required any other surgeries. He is very intelligent showing no side effects from the brain bleeds. His only-on going treatments are physio and occupational therapy for low muscle tone which may/may not be linked to prematurity.
