I am currently taking Wellbutrin XL 300mg, Lamotrigine 25 mg, Zyrtec, Levothyroxine 75mg, and Atenolol 50mg.
I started Lamotrigine (lamictal generic) 2 weeks ago. On day 9, I developed severe diarrhea and cramps. It was slowed down with 1 pill of Immodium, but after 2 days I decided to eat a "regular" meal and got diarrhea again. So it's been on an off for 6 days, and this morning it was worse than it was the first day!
is this mix ok? i used to take Wellbutrin and Lamictal,but now only Lamictal. my therapist feels i need something to boost my concentration and Wellbutrin didnt work.
Lamotrigine? What exactly is that? I tried wellbutrin but took all emotions away and put me in zombie mode!
And I was talking a mood stabilizer called lamotrigine (200mgs) twice a day... And my mood swings got worse when I was taken off of it.. wondering if there's any suggestions that with help with it.. my fiancee gets upset when I get MOODY....
Use of Effexor is controversial as many psychiatrists say it helps, but the research is leaning towards it causing an escalation of episodes causing rapid cycling in people with bipolar. I was rapid cycling and on Wellbutrin. Once they removed the Wellbutrin the rapid cycling slowed down tremendously. I had to fight to be removed from it though, my psychiatrist didn't think it was a good idea.
Meds though are 60% of the fight the other 40% is learning to manage your condition.
t work, thought I would lose my mind completely. Turned out it was the antidepressant (Wellbutrin) I was taking. Once I was off of that I settled out a lot. I can even mark 'normal' on my mood chart every now and again.
Wish I had a better answer for you, but for me it was the meds that made the difference.
And you stayed on the medications at least 4 weeks to make sure they didn't work for you? What about Wellbutrin? I take Wellbutrin for OCD and it works well for me. Might be worth a try. Also, learning how to deal with the thoughts is very important. Of course you need to find a psychologist that teaches CBT and that you like and feel you are getting something from.

These medicines worked for me well for 8 months or so till the passing away of a family member. I didn't think I was in mourning but I guess it did affect me. And now either medicines/times are either not good enough or are contributing to my anxiety.
Meds are pretty individual. Lamotrigine would be the one I'd ask for. It has a low side effect profile and is good more for the downs than the ups. If you are up more than you are down - lithium may be a better choice. Although with lithium you will need regular blood testing. Depakene is the other mood stabilizer but I know very little about it except it can make your hair fall out.
I had a hard go around with the antipsychotics. Lots of side effects But finally Abilify works great for me.
Hello,`I am new at this soo.. i was diagnosed a yr ago and was put on effexor that didn't help, and serequel for racing thoughts. then my doc put me on wellbutrin xr that was ok for a couple of months but my depression has worsed tremendously and i am taking wellbutrin xr 200 mg, serequel 50mg, and clonapin. the wellbutrin has no effect on me at all and i was actually wondering about topamax. i have tried almost every antidepressent and nothing.
Only a few interactions between lamotrigine and other drugs have been identified. Lamotrigine increases the plasma level of carbamazepine and its metabolites. Carbamazepine lowers the concentration of lamotrigine in the blood.
Valproate doubles the plasma level of lamotrigine, and the level of valproate is decreased by about 25% in people taking lamotrigine.
Phenobarbital and primidone lower the plasma level of lamotrigine by about 40%.
I think they're confused. If you read the full prescribing information, it's the PILL that screws with the lamotrigine, not the other way around. It's not like a lot of other anticonvulsants. I told my p-doc I was still depressed and she suggested that we lower Lamictal instead of increasing Wellbutrin (which she said I was maxed out on). I have been a proponent of 'less medication', so I am unsure of what to ask at my upcoming new psychiatrist appointment. Since graduating, I haven't spoken with any t-doc or p-doc in around 8 months.
For the last year or so I was taking 300mg/day Wellbutrin Xr and also 200mg lamictal. I have also taken Buspar for around a year.
i was just wanting to know if lamotrigine and quetiapine can cause sore throats I've been taking these meds for 4 days and I started getting sick after day 2
