ve been taking Lamotrigine for over a year. It caused no changes in my weight or appetite. And I swear by the medication.

I´ve been taking 200 mg of lamotrigine for a while -about 3 years. But. My swinging moods along the year have not really changed. My doctor insists in the 200 mg. doses. I´m esceptic. Conclusion: I´m about to drop lamotrigine and start all over again. I´m a natural optimistic. Thanks for answering.

ok i am on a mood stabilizer and i started out on 25 mg for two weeks and just recently moved up to 50 mg and i have noticed a few side effects that i dont really care for. i am about to either call my dr and stop taking the med all together or just stay on 25 mg. the side effects that i have noticed are i have been a bit more depressed, very edgy and more irritable and my appetite has increased or cravings have increased. i am for this side effect not sure if its related to pms or what?

is it safe to take lamotrigine when u have hepatitis c? My psychiatrist just started me on 25 mg..is it safe for my liver..I'm not being treated for my hep c..any info will help..

My long time meds are for blood pressure... Amlodipine 5mg and lisinopril/HCTZ 20/25mg. Oh and lamotrigine 50 mg for the last two weeks. I quit heavy drinking a about 8 days ago reneeding hospitalization fot 4 days due to extreme withdrawal. Anyway as of today I'm noticing definite noticeable hand tremors. I'm wondering if it's from my combination of meds?

Silly me I accidently took 100 mg around 8:30 AM. I was being very absentminded and didn't think. I had my dosage last evening around 6 PM. So I have 12 hours between dosages. No rashes yet but I was extremely tired during the afternoon. I do have my pill box but I just totally forgot thinking I was still on my old dosage from last week. I'm going to skip this evenings dosage and start again at 6 PM tomorrow. What do you recommend. I haven't foamed at the mouth yet.

I am currently taking Wellbutrin XL 300mg, Lamotrigine 25 mg, Zyrtec, Levothyroxine 75mg, and Atenolol 50mg. I started Lamotrigine (lamictal generic) 2 weeks ago. On day 9, I developed severe diarrhea and cramps. It was slowed down with 1 pill of Immodium, but after 2 days I decided to eat a "regular" meal and got diarrhea again. So it's been on an off for 6 days, and this morning it was worse than it was the first day!

My son on lithium 2100 mg a dayand zyprexa10 mg he has problem with short term memory and focusing on teak or school. He still have some manic behavior. Bezoar like playing with books at home he sign for real state course but can't ute dent.

I take 200 mg of the generic, Lamotrigine but I have taken as much as 400mg. I have never had a problem with mania from it. However, lamotrigine works best in keeping depression away and does little in deterring mania. The mania you have been having may have nothing to do with lamotrigine but because it doesn't do anything for it when it comes on. Other mood stabilizers, like lithium and Depakote work well for mania. I would discuss the option of adding one of them to the lamotrigine.

Hi, I'm bipolar I and have been on antipsychotics for little over a year now. Within a few weeks I'll be tapering off Abilify with the help of my pdoc. I'm happy about it, but I still wonder what your experiences have been with lamotrigine (Lamictal) as a monotherapy for bipolar I. I'd really hate to get manic again, but I also feel that Abilify is holding me back in my studies. Any tips and suggestions?

I was diagnosed as bipolar type 2 back in June 2005, and since then have been on Lamotrigine (Lamictal) on an increasing dosage. I have been at the max dosage that my doctor said is allowed (350 mg/day). So that means over 4 years that I've been taking this drug. I have found that since taking lamictal, my depression has all but vanished, but it does not control my manic behavior at all. So as an anti-depressant, I think it's very effective for me.

I was given 10 mg Zyprexa by my pdoc for about four months. It stopped working, so he took me off of it. I went from 10mg to 5 mg for a week, then to 2.5mg for a week, then off. This is the 12th day and I've been experiencing intense withdrawal: An extreme anxiety that I've never before experienced, an indescribable, awful feeling, insomnia/early waking, severe and persistent diarrhea, dry heaves and throwing up, unable to eat, etc.

Only a psychiatrist can give specific medical advice but what I can tell you is that when I tried chewable Lamictal it didn't work and the standard pills did. Perhaps you could ask your psychiatrist about that. And be patient. You won't see an effect from Lamictal until it reaches 150 mg. and as you know there is a specific titration schedule (I'm sure your psychiatrist has told you this) for raising the dose.

Only a few interactions between lamotrigine and other drugs have been identified. Lamotrigine increases the plasma level of carbamazepine and its metabolites. Carbamazepine lowers the concentration of lamotrigine in the blood. Valproate doubles the plasma level of lamotrigine, and the level of valproate is decreased by about 25% in people taking lamotrigine. Phenobarbital and primidone lower the plasma level of lamotrigine by about 40%.

Right now your Seroquel is an antihistamine. I just looked at the pi sheet, and the target dose for bipolar depression is 300 mg, where it should be less sedating than lower doses (the crazymeds.us wiki says above 200 mg is the cutoff for that one). 400-800 mg for mania. It's off label to use risperidone for the depressive side of bipolar, but if anything, you'd want to increase it, not decrease it. A Seroquel increase is probably a better thing to try first.

Sorry for the confusion about the opiates. He had been taking hydrocodone and somas. He spent 10 days in jail for having hydrocodone in his vehicle & driving under the influence. He has not taken any since then & says that he is finished with the drugs. But I did check with the pharmacy and he has abused the lamotrigine. He received 4 (25 mg) one day & then picked up the remainder of the prescription the next day for a total of 45. So he took an average of 5 per day.

So right now I am currently taking ziprasidone 80 mg, chantix 1mg, topamax 50mg 3x day, and ropinirole for side effects 1 mg once a day. I can't believe I actually made it through the night last night. I had some psychosis and was up all night long, but laying and I had the shakes at first but I'm actually proud I made it through the night without popping that pill. Took my medicine this morning and slept for about 5 hours and no psychosis, hallucinations or anything.

That’s the one thing the Dr’s could never get under control. I stopped the Latuda and on Depakote 500 mg. See if this helps but doubtful.

Hello, I am a first time pregnant mom to be at 35 and I have some complex med problems that require maintenance meds. I'm epileptic with a small brain tumor and taking Lamotrigine, which I know isn't great for the baby. But I'm low dose (200 mgs a day) and a seizure will most likely cause more injury to the baby than stopping. I also have an anxiety disorder and chronic pain due to a failed knee surgery a few years ago.

In the USA, it is given for anxiety not epilepsy.. 6 mg/day is highest dose for anxiety. You may be tolerant and require the 4.5 mg for your anxiety. Do not lower your dose on your clonazepam without your doctor knowing about it, if you've taken clonazepam for a long time because you will withdraw.
