Common Questions and Answers about Lamotrigine liver function

lamictal

Avatar n tn Yes, you can take lamotrigine if you have hepatitis C. If you have serious liver damage, the dose may have to be reduced. Because this is a new drug for you, watch for the rash/swelling in the first few weeks. This drug can cause severe skin rashes. You need to let your doctor know if the rash or swelling occur.
Avatar f tn I had an aunt who died from liver cancer and her liver function tests were normal until the end stages. However, it is common to have cysts in the liver and fatty areas that aren't a problem. When I was dx they found a hemangioma in my liver and another cyst and there were two cysts in my kidneys. Before my surgery, I thought this must indicate cancer had spread there only to find out that most of us do have some sort of cyst congenitally or as we age. My dr.
678069 tn?1254422777 Well, not only did my latest bloodwork show all my blood counts are good, but my liver function is now NORMAL!! Are you kidding me?? Its been a long time since that was the case. I couldnt believe it when my Dr said it. I could definitely get used to hearing that! Add to all that the fact that my side effects are minimal. The only thing I deal with on a regular basis is mild fevers. But Advil usually takes care of it.

Avatar f tn I am currently on Lamotragine 100 increasing by 25mgs every two weeks, hoping to reach 00 mgs, as well as topomax 125mgs. It has helped the depression, as I used to be unable to get out of bed, didn't want to get dressed, etc, sleep all the time. However I am crying everyday at the drop of a hat, get super angry and frusterated over everything and feel like I am stuck in this "cyclone" that I am unable to get out of.
Avatar n tn SHOULD I HAVE BEEN TAKEN OFF LAMICTAL BEFORE THE INDUCED SEIZURES? I am experiences extreme memory loss and cognitve function. Unable to speak articulately since the ECT. It doesn't make sense that I would be on an anti seizure medicine. Would this require more electricity to be used to induce the seizure? Would more electricity risk brain damage? Which I feel I have. The doctors of course are telling me that it's all in my head.
1985196 tn?1402190098 Hi , just wondering if other people with Bi Polar have trouble with their memory ? , especially short term i can hardly remember what i did the day before , and sometimes even a few hour's , or could it be the med's destroying my brain cells ? I guess i'm a little concerned with a few thing's like could the med's be causing damage to my liver and kidney's as well , i'm freaking out , and it's making me more paranoid then i already am .
Avatar f tn In about 2011 or so (i was like 17 I wanna say) I was perscribed Lamotrigine for bipolar disorder. Taking that medication seems to have been the stupidest thing I've ever done in my life. Or, the most coincidental occurance I've ever heard of. Just a week after tapering daily to the regular dose, I began to feel what I called "crippling anxiety". My doc hardly believed me when I said it and, get this, UPPED my dose of Lamotrigine.
Avatar m tn Hi, I just received my liver function test and am concerned. I am a social drinker who has no more than 2 glasses of wine maybe 4x a week (no hard liquor). My test results were GGT 105; ALT 154: AST 80...What does this indicate? This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/234245'>slightly elevated alt ast</a>.
Avatar f tn I am so worried now about liver disease and cirrhosis. If my liver was inflammed would doctor not have felt this at appontment as she said it was kidney? Would the ultrasound have to have showed liver problems for a LFT to be done or could this be routine ? If you have gall stones would a doctor check your liver function? If anyone can help i would be really grateful. I am so worried.
Avatar n tn When i went in to see her she avised me that my liver function test results were high (166), she also said that my white blood cell count was high! I'm just a bit worried that something may be wrong, the tests were arranged as i have little red spots appearing all over my body, almost like little spider veins, i now have to wait to have the tests done again, does anyone know what this may mean?
Avatar n tn My brother in law has chirosis, and the doctor said only 2% liver function. Hi stomach is hugh and his legs are so bloated he can no longer walk. His first doctor wrote him off said he is all done. He went to a new doctor who put him on water pills. He has been taking them a couple weeks, without improvement. He is itchy, very yellow, and is so tired, his words are slurred. He is going to see a liver specialist tomorrow. Any input is appreciated.
Avatar m tn well stopping like that might be very very dangerous. the first mistake is the use of telbivudine, it is not a first line therapy since genetic barrier is too weak and resistance can arise, if you have resistance or develop it now that youstopped drug all other dugs will respond less and develop resistance soon your feelings are about myopathy which is a side common to telbivudine but has nothing to do with the liver, it is a nervous system problem.
Avatar f tn I recently was told by my physician that I needed to see a Hepatologist due to the liver function testing coming back high. I have had these test done every month for 5 months and each month they get higher. I had a CT of the liver done and she said it was enlarged and with the high levels on the blood work we needed to see a specialist. I am on medication for High Blood Pressure and Cholesterol. I take tylenol weekly for headaches (highly allergic to aspirin).
