Has anyone been givin lamotrigine for panic attacks and anxiety, and did it work and what were the side effects i take xanax but my doctor dosent want me on that long term and now he tryin this..
Ive been on Klonopin for 2 months now and it has helped a lot with my anxiety. But it doesn't seem to be helping me with my mood swings. I'm very against SSRI's though I've been given prescriptions for Zoloft and Celexa, tried neither. I was prescribed Seroquel and it was horrible. I was also prescribed Risperdal but was hesitant to try it due to the reaction I had with the Seroquel.
In about 2011 or so (i was like 17 I wanna say) I was perscribed Lamotrigine for bipolar disorder. Taking that medication seems to have been the stupidest thing I've ever done in my life. Or, the most coincidental occurance I've ever heard of. Just a week after tapering daily to the regular dose, I began to feel what I called "crippling anxiety". My doc hardly believed me when I said it and, get this, UPPED my dose of Lamotrigine.
I was given 10 mg Zyprexa by my pdoc for about four months. It stopped working, so he took me off of it. I went from 10mg to 5 mg for a week, then to 2.5mg for a week, then off.
This is the 12th day and I've been experiencing intense withdrawal: An extreme anxiety that I've never before experienced, an indescribable, awful feeling, insomnia/early waking, severe and persistent diarrhea, dry heaves and throwing up, unable to eat, etc.
After reviewing the medications I was already taking (to avoid any conflicts) she recommended Lamotrigine for my intense anxiety. I am VERY familiar with off-label drug uses, but I can find no information re: the use of this drug for my situation. It is a drug used for bi-polar disorder and seizures. I thought that Atavan would be the drug of choice, and after reading more about Lamotrigine, I have become actually quite shocked about this recommendation.
I am on 300mg cynbalta and 100mg of lamotrigine can I take these tohether without any interactions and if so what
Hello, I am a first time pregnant mom to be at 35 and I have some complex med problems that require maintenance meds. I'm epileptic with a small brain tumor and taking Lamotrigine, which I know isn't great for the baby. But I'm low dose (200 mgs a day) and a seizure will most likely cause more injury to the baby than stopping. I also have an anxiety disorder and chronic pain due to a failed knee surgery a few years ago.
Only a few interactions between lamotrigine and other drugs have been identified. Lamotrigine increases the plasma level of carbamazepine and its metabolites. Carbamazepine lowers the concentration of lamotrigine in the blood.
Valproate doubles the plasma level of lamotrigine, and the level of valproate is decreased by about 25% in people taking lamotrigine.
Phenobarbital and primidone lower the plasma level of lamotrigine by about 40%.
I think they're confused. If you read the full prescribing information, it's the PILL that screws with the lamotrigine, not the other way around. It's not like a lot of other anticonvulsants. Although there are other mood stablizers out there such as Depakote and Lamotrigine. I take lamotrigine. Fairly low side effect profile, fairly weight neutral, although my understanding is it is better for bipolar depression and Lithium is better at controlling manias. I don't know much about Depakote. I don't think it is used as much now.
If you don't see a psychiatrist I'd get a referral to one when you see your GP on Monday.
Do not stop using tramadol suddenly, or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, sweating, nausea, diarrhea, tremors, chills, hallucinations, trouble sleeping, or breathing problems. Talk to your doctor about how to avoid withdrawal symptoms when stopping the medication. Store tramadol at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep track of how many pills have been used from each new bottle of this medicine.
I also agree with Alisonj29 exercise plays a good role in how you feel about yourself and feeling positive about yourself kills the anxiety. Anxiety is usually about the negative thoughts that go through our heads. This is just my story and what worked or works for me and every one is different. Good luck to you and I hope you find yours!
Abilify brings some anxiety this is why it's good for depression like lamotrigine. some pdocs add akineton.
I am currently taking Wellbutrin XL 300mg, Lamotrigine 25 mg, Zyrtec, Levothyroxine 75mg, and Atenolol 50mg.
I started Lamotrigine (lamictal generic) 2 weeks ago. On day 9, I developed severe diarrhea and cramps. It was slowed down with 1 pill of Immodium, but after 2 days I decided to eat a "regular" meal and got diarrhea again. So it's been on an off for 6 days, and this morning it was worse than it was the first day!
I was prescribed welbutrin 75mg per day and I felt better but after a few months, the same behaviors same stupid
My doctor then said I might be bipolar and prescribed Lamictal-Lamotrigine 100 mg per day in addition to the 75mg welbutrin. Things seemed much better; though I masturbated once a day or less, and I did not feel like going to strip clubs etc. I was ok for many months till the passing of a relative a few months back.
i was just wanting to know if lamotrigine and quetiapine can cause sore throats I've been taking these meds for 4 days and I started getting sick after day 2
Hi, my niece is 20 years old and this week had suicidal thoughts and was hospitalized for 3 days in a MH unit. She's been suffering from some moderate depression/anxiety for some time, but specifically connected to her period, her PMS was terrible! Anyway, she'd been taking a BCP which they changed and Prozac to help the PMDD, but now after the hospitalization, they've put her on Geodon 20, Lamotrigine 25 then increase eventually to 100, and Bupropion 37.5 to increase to 75 daily!!
