i was just wanting to know if lamotrigine and quetiapine can cause sore throats I've been taking these meds for 4 days and I started getting sick after day 2
I woke up with a sore throat neck swollen and tender, headache, and just achy.. Then next Day same thing but had a rash all over my body. Light pink dots everywhere. Not itchy at all, but face was flushed. Next day same thing but spots darker red on belly, back and neck, and looks a lot like a sunburn on face arms..feels like it too (radiating heat, sensitive to touch). Havent been in the sun. Ive been taking lamotrigine for about 2 weeks and I know its associated with some serious rashes.
Only a few interactions between lamotrigine and other drugs have been identified. Lamotrigine increases the plasma level of carbamazepine and its metabolites. Carbamazepine lowers the concentration of lamotrigine in the blood.
Valproate doubles the plasma level of lamotrigine, and the level of valproate is decreased by about 25% in people taking lamotrigine.
Phenobarbital and primidone lower the plasma level of lamotrigine by about 40%.

So many names for birth controls...) for years now, but have had issues with breakthrough bleeding as of the last few months. Thus, my doctor, who is also my GYN, prescribed a different brand. On Sunday the 21st of December I began Lomedia Fe with iron pills for the last few days of my AF.
I really feel better mentally, no depression or pain, with lamotrigine, and I am so sad that I might have to give it up. I just saw my doctor yesterday and since it is February, she thinks that may be it is just a stomach virus... I need to live my life without having to pull over at gas station rest areas constantly!
If this is caused by the lamotrigine, will I "adjust" and the diarrhea go away, or am I just really too sensitive to this medication?
Your doctor will start you on low dose of lamotrigine and gradually increase your dose, not more than once every 1 to 2 weeks. You may be more likely to develop a serious rash if you take a higher starting dose or increase your dose faster than your doctor tells you that you should. Your first doses of medication may be packaged in a starter kit that will clearly show you the right amount of medication to take each day during the first 5 weeks of your treatment.
My son is 25 and has seizure disorder. This past Thanksgiving, he had a total of 5 seizures over 24 hours necessitating a hospital visit and stay. They put him on a third seizure medication (Lamotrigine). I spoke with a neurologist at USF who didn't like that a 3rd medication was added before his previous two were maxed out--he was already on Keppra (max dosage) and Depakote (sprinkles--very low dose), so she titrated him up on the Depakote so we could get rid of the Lamotrigine.
I was also on epilim and was taken off because of the weight gain, im now on lamotrigine, at the begining I found this to really lift my mood but then it wasnt enough so I was added some other medication, cant remember the name, I was ok for months but now for some reason I have started to cycle again.
I m having ear pain and sore throat and also have sore mouth, my tounge, upper area of mouth and also hav pain behind the ears...been like this for a week now. I m worried as I had a pap smear wich came back with hpv and ascus and I also hav large fibroids wich I m getting treatment for. My great worry now is that is this sore throat related to hpv as hpv can also cause head and neck cancer. I will be glad if someone can help me on it.
i am on week 13 of tx and I am going on my 6th week of having a sore throat and can not get rid of it. I took antibiotics for 7 days and didnt help at all. My Lymph Nodes located behind the ears and my throat are so enlarged that they are very sore. My nose is congested and is constantly bleeding. Is anyone having this problem? and is their any releif? I had unprotected sex with a woman and after 2 days I had a sore throat which lasted for 6 days (no medications taken) and then again I got it exactly 2 weeks after the day I had unprotected sex and this time it was bad but no fever and any other symptom. I went to the doctor and he gave me antbiotic and it went away in 4 days..

Ugh ive tried to avoid sick people as much as possible but Wednesday and Thursday I watched my finacees 7 year old nephew who was sick ( I didn't want to but had to watch him) and just woke up with the most awful sore throat and painful ears ! I started having a sore throat about a week plus one day ago. It wasn't all that bad, just sore to swallow. I went home for the weekend hoping that my parents care would heal me up over the weekend, but we tried multiple things and the sore throat wouldn't go away. It only kept getting worse.
I have a bad cold now and I called my midwife and she said Tylenol cold and flu is good. But don't overdose. And for me to follow the strict directions. And throat drops or cloreseptic sprays are good.
It eventually turned into a sharp pain in the bottom of my throat, and eventually into a sore throat then went away without knowing what it was. This lasted about a month and i forgot about it. Today i noticed a sharp pain while i was breathing. It hurts my whole chest but starts in the sternum. I thought it was a continuation of pain through the knots in my back (minor scoliosis) but i noticed by the end of the day that this is exactly how that strange sore throat felt like last time!
