Lamotrigine and seroquel

Common Questions and Answers about Lamotrigine and seroquel

lamictal

Avatar f tn I really feel better mentally, no depression or pain, with lamotrigine, and I am so sad that I might have to give it up. I just saw my doctor yesterday and since it is February, she thinks that may be it is just a stomach virus... I need to live my life without having to pull over at gas station rest areas constantly! If this is caused by the lamotrigine, will I "adjust" and the diarrhea go away, or am I just really too sensitive to this medication?
1114269 tn?1258680912 I have tried Seroquel and had a bad cardiac (tachycardia) response to it, and that class of drugs in general is not good for me (have had same problems). I'm also having problems with Ativan at the moment, have been taking 1mg at night every night for about 8 months. If I don't take one, I have the most horrible violent nightmares ever. So I don't know what to do.
Avatar m tn I'm in the Uk and currently taking Quetiapine, Depakote and Lamotrigine. The Quetiapine for me was prescribed for rage and agitation, I don't feel any anti depressant properties from it, but it has saved my life. Lamotrigine was prescribed 7 weeks ago and I feel a lot better, I am doing things that I didn't think I'd ever feel I could do again. Nobody has ever specified what type of Bp I have, I have symptoms from across the spectrum, I have mixed episodes.
2176476 tn?1338605299 ve been taking Lamictal for about 7 months, along with a secondary anti-psychotic to after a major mania episode. I started on Seroquel for about 3 months, and the combination seemed to work well. I had to D/C the Seroquel when my insurance changed and it wasn't covered. Since then I've tried first perphenazine (4 weeks), then thiothixene (six weeks), but they were too sedating and I was having a problem working.
1912569 tn?1485015929 quetiapine 25mg night, lamotrigine 100mg night, wellbutrin 150mg twice a day. And inderal 10mg as needed for anxiety. Lamotrigine gave me a rash, wellbutrin (generic version) made me irritable and snippy at everything. The seroquel (generic version) has been wonderful, although it makes me hungry but since I take it at night I try not to stay awake with it. Inderal (propranolol) gave me apathy so I am taking less.
Avatar n tn I went off Seroquel and tried Abilify and one other (cant remember) but they did not work. I am now backon Seroquel 300 miligrams along with my Lithium and Pexeva. I feel like it doesnt work as well as it did the first time. I went up to 450 with Seroquel, but I am just way too sleepy. Does anyone know a drug that works well with Pexeva and Lithium? My biggest problems are racing thoughts and anxiety when I am off of the Seroquel. Help!
7773352 tn?1394065574 Hello, I take Lithium and Seroquel . The Seroquel increase's appetite and weight gain but i have no issue's with Lithium except dry mouth and dehydration sometime's ,so i drink lot's of water . It's a mood stabilizer and work's well for me and you need regular blood test's so your Lithium levels are not too high .
Avatar m tn My doctor told me that if seroquel is not working take risperadal and if risperadal not working take seroquel. Whatever, small hard things are still alive which will never go until we won't die. And only god can stay till 20 years in hard condition like energy zero, sex zero, . may be after 20 years when there is no harmone means our hair will be white, skin will wrinkle, .
202665 tn?1248806733 i'm on a regiment of lithium, cymbalta, seroquel and lamagotrine. my meds and dose has been the same over the last year.over the last six months i've been havinf memory issues - forgetting where i am, forgetting names, if my wife says get the vacuum i bring a broom, i can't think of words, etc. doc has been doing lots of test to rule out physical issues. blood work and mri are fine. now finished some cognitive and emotional testing.
Avatar f tn Hey you guys, I am 27 weeks pregnant and type 2 bipolar. I was taking and pretty happy with seroquel (but I took the off brand version) till I found out I was expecting, I immediateky stopped taking it and my Dr. Refuses to treat me till after my pregnancy which is understandable. But however, I feel like I.am going NUTS. I havnt been able to sleep since I stopped taking it, and I know that sleeplessness also comes with pregnancy, but I get so irritated and mad.
1756969 tn?1332437163 I take lamotrigine - 200mg -- and it has worked well for me with no side effects. It is usually weight neutral meaning it doesn't affect your appetite. I have taken other mood stabilizers and didn't like the side effects - lithium, bad hand tremor, diarrhea, vomiting; depakote, hair loss, weight gain; seroquel, extreme sleepiness Do remember that this is my experience and yours may be different.
1895346 tn?1321305844 ve tried seroquel, geodone, ziprexa (although weight gain and cost are a factor) and abilify (cost may be a factor). There are also the mood stabilizers such as lamotrigine and depakote that may be useful. Lamotrigine is an easy one because it doesn't need blood tests. Make sure you titrate up slowly as it can cause a rash that can be fatal (although that is very very very rare) and titrating up seems to prevent that. I need a combination of medications.
Avatar f tn Finally I tried Abilify and it works great in combo with the lamotrigine. I feel like myself. Not depressed, not elevated, just me. I have different friends who have found different meds that work. I would seriously consider not taking any more Zoloft and calling your psychiatrist. You don't want to end up in the psyc ward. Be honest with her and tell her your concerns. Maybe she'll have some ideas. You may also want to consider a new pdoc.
Panda the medications I take lamotrigine, prazosin, naltrexone, Seroquel, zantac, pantroprazole, im taking zolfran for the nausea I vomited for the first time this morning everything upsets my tummy. some less some more. any help?
2080404 tn?1643113754 i've been diagnosed with Bipolar depression and Borderline Personality disorder with moods that shift daily, ranging from hypomania to severely depressed. about 10 years ago a doctor tried me on Lithium and it didn't seem to be having an effect so i was taken off it and that's the last medication i was taking until recently when my PCP put me on Trazodone for anxiety and insomnia.
Avatar f tn ve been given prescriptions for Zoloft and Celexa, tried neither. I was prescribed Seroquel and it was horrible. I was also prescribed Risperdal but was hesitant to try it due to the reaction I had with the Seroquel. I'd like to continue taking the Klonopin for my anxiety but I feel I need something else for my mood swings. I have vaso vagal syncopy which causes low blood pressure and a short pr interval that causes me to have an increased heart rate but neither are truly dangerous.
665370 tn?1237084366 Speaking from personal experience, and that of the professionals I sought consultation with, I would definitely AVOID pregnancy on these sorts of drugs. There are just not enough studies out there to determine the potential effects of these medications on the development of the fetus. The first six weeks of fetal organ production are extrememly important, and the teratogenicity of the drugs can have a major impact on that development.
1052851 tn?1307741160 Many bipolar people are on lamotrigine and seroquel. That is what my pdoc gives pretty much everyone. I was at my most suicidal while on seroquel so I refused to take it again. Probably not the seroquel that caused the suicidal thoughts - but why take any chances.
Avatar f tn I got a partial response from Geodone (called Zeldox where I live) and lamotrigine, but I started to lose weight rapidly (got down to a size 2) so they switched to Abilify and my life is sooo much better. I really can't believe the difference. Each person reacts differently to meds. I have one friend who felt horrid on Abilify and does wonderfully on Zeldox. I know my pdoc said his most common combination is Seroquel for sleep and lamotrigine to stabilize.
Avatar m tn I have looked into these types of Meds to counteract the weight gain and I am interested in seeing how it would help. I don't have any issue with taking another med, especially if it were to stop the weight gain.. it's a serious problem as for me the ones that don't make you gain weight are never effective! I am tall and used to be naturally slim, I could eat what I want but now I don't seem to eat much at all and have still put on weight, I exercise on a treadmill asawell.
Avatar n tn I've been on lamotrigine (lamictal) for years. I've taken many other medications for bp and not much has worked for whatever reasons. I did not find relief until I got on lamictal. It took several months to work the dose up a little at a time and some fine tuning to get the dose right. Now I'm on 300mg lamotrigine. I had some tremors and had some balance problems on the higher doses. I also take 450mg lithium carbonate and 60mg methylphenidate (this one's in the morning).
Avatar f tn Only a few interactions between lamotrigine and other drugs have been identified. Lamotrigine increases the plasma level of carbamazepine and its metabolites. Carbamazepine lowers the concentration of lamotrigine in the blood. Valproate doubles the plasma level of lamotrigine, and the level of valproate is decreased by about 25% in people taking lamotrigine. Phenobarbital and primidone lower the plasma level of lamotrigine by about 40%.
Avatar f tn Hey all, my name is Daniel and I'm 21 years young. In about 2011 or so (i was like 17 I wanna say) I was perscribed Lamotrigine for bipolar disorder. Taking that medication seems to have been the stupidest thing I've ever done in my life. Or, the most coincidental occurance I've ever heard of. Just a week after tapering daily to the regular dose, I began to feel what I called "crippling anxiety".
