Lamotrigine and gabapentin

Common Questions and Answers about Lamotrigine and gabapentin

lamictal

Avatar f tn yes you certainly can. I have been on gabapentin 1800mg (for neuropathic pain) for 5 years now and Lamictal 150mg (lowered from 300mg originally)..for abt 18 months this I take for mood stabilizing. I have noticed no side effects from either drug alone or combined, except possibly some short term memory problems that may or maynot be related to the lamictal.
Avatar f tn My long time meds are for blood pressure... Amlodipine 5mg and lisinopril/HCTZ 20/25mg. Oh and lamotrigine 50 mg for the last two weeks. I quit heavy drinking a about 8 days ago reneeding hospitalization fot 4 days due to extreme withdrawal. Anyway as of today I'm noticing definite noticeable hand tremors. I'm wondering if it's from my combination of meds?
2033870 tn?1329481339 Just do a google search on antidepressants and rapid cycling. I was ultra rapid cycling taking an antipsychotic, lamotrigine, and wellbutrin. I only started getting better when I did the research on antidepressants and insisted that I no longer take them. Very odd medication choices. I've taken neurontin but it was for pain related issues not mood. Have you been unable to take standard medication like lamotrigine, lithium, or diprovalex?
Avatar n tn I cut the Gabapentin to a lower dose and I think it was from another prescription Plavix and they changed it to Aggrenox I am doing fine now. Age is a bummer. I feel 30 but my body does not realize this! Smile.I appreciate your time and answer. Have a wonderful Summer.
1045086 tn?1332126422 In analyses adjusted for psychiatric and neurologic comorbidities, the risks for suicide attempt, completed suicide, and violent death were significantly higher with gabapentin, lamotrigine, oxcarbazepine, and tiagabine than with topiramate. The elevated risk was noted within 30 days of starting treatment. The authors call their analysis "exploratory," noting several study limitations — for example, there could have been residual confounding from patients' comorbidities.
Avatar f tn Only a few interactions between lamotrigine and other drugs have been identified. Lamotrigine increases the plasma level of carbamazepine and its metabolites. Carbamazepine lowers the concentration of lamotrigine in the blood. Valproate doubles the plasma level of lamotrigine, and the level of valproate is decreased by about 25% in people taking lamotrigine. Phenobarbital and primidone lower the plasma level of lamotrigine by about 40%.
Avatar f tn I really feel better mentally, no depression or pain, with lamotrigine, and I am so sad that I might have to give it up. I just saw my doctor yesterday and since it is February, she thinks that may be it is just a stomach virus... I need to live my life without having to pull over at gas station rest areas constantly! If this is caused by the lamotrigine, will I "adjust" and the diarrhea go away, or am I just really too sensitive to this medication?
Avatar m tn and asked for a MRI (LSS) and lab tests which are serum calcium and ESR and TSH and blood sugar and i did the MRI but the pain is getting more and i slightly don't feel my leg as it have became heavy but as i said slightly but noticeable and i actually cant wait till Saturday as i am using a crutch and using my hand and one leg to move my body as the left leg hurts when i move it and specially when i put pressure and it feels like a nerve not a muscle nor a bone as i have had pain in both (
Avatar f tn My son is 25 and has seizure disorder. This past Thanksgiving, he had a total of 5 seizures over 24 hours necessitating a hospital visit and stay. They put him on a third seizure medication (Lamotrigine). I spoke with a neurologist at USF who didn't like that a 3rd medication was added before his previous two were maxed out--he was already on Keppra (max dosage) and Depakote (sprinkles--very low dose), so she titrated him up on the Depakote so we could get rid of the Lamotrigine.
1756969 tn?1332437163 I take lamotrigine - 200mg -- and it has worked well for me with no side effects. It is usually weight neutral meaning it doesn't affect your appetite. I have taken other mood stabilizers and didn't like the side effects - lithium, bad hand tremor, diarrhea, vomiting; depakote, hair loss, weight gain; seroquel, extreme sleepiness Do remember that this is my experience and yours may be different.
Avatar f tn I was also on epilim and was taken off because of the weight gain, im now on lamotrigine, at the begining I found this to really lift my mood but then it wasnt enough so I was added some other medication, cant remember the name, I was ok for months but now for some reason I have started to cycle again.
1756969 tn?1332437163 ve been taking Lamotrigine for over a year. It caused no changes in my weight or appetite. And I swear by the medication.
Avatar f tn I find that the only thing that even comes close to helping me is either sitting on a very dark shower floor and having the water hit the top of my head, and then laying in a very dark, quiet room...laying on the side where the pain starts ( my left eye ). Other than that...I seriously hope we all find relief soon.
Avatar f tn The study found five cases of oral clefts in infants in a study of 564 pregnancies (that is one in 113 cases) where the mother was taking lamotrigine and no other antiepileptic drugs. This is higher than the worldwide incidence which is one in 700." Overall, there are reports for and against Lamotrigine in pregnancy. The treatment has to be individualized for each patient. You will need a regular monitoring of the fetal growth.

Avatar f tn I am currently taking Lamotrigine, Prazosin, and Quetiapine. I have also been diagnosed with H. Pylori, I was wondering if I could take Prevacid with these other medications? I have tried everything else and this would be a last resort.
Avatar m tn I asked my neurologist about sleep and he told me to take the Lamotrigine 250x2 1 time/day. From my personal experience I would try the medications and keep a log of good or ill effects, for the first 30 days to adjust for half life and discuss them with the prescribing DR. If there are ill effects notify your DR immediately.
Avatar f tn ll with flu like symptoms which left him with weak muscles severe constant head pain ( still) extreme fatigue and a series of other issues. It took months of running to gp and hospital to get answers - this was initially that he had signs of having a Tia then it was two tia's then we were contacted to go in to hosp for further tests as scan had shown vasculitis in brain - then this was ruled out . Back to TIA .
Avatar f tn Ugh i'm on Lamotrigine and I accidentally took a whole pill and not a half and the next-ish day I had this sore feeling in a part of my throat I couldn't pinpoint , it was weird. I have continuously felt like I was on the verge of getting sick...Hm. I've been really thirsty lately, too.
Avatar m tn I'm in the Uk and currently taking Quetiapine, Depakote and Lamotrigine. The Quetiapine for me was prescribed for rage and agitation, I don't feel any anti depressant properties from it, but it has saved my life. Lamotrigine was prescribed 7 weeks ago and I feel a lot better, I am doing things that I didn't think I'd ever feel I could do again. Nobody has ever specified what type of Bp I have, I have symptoms from across the spectrum, I have mixed episodes.
Avatar n tn These are anti-epilepsy drugs such as valproate, carbamazepine, lamotrigine, phenytoin, gabapentin, and pregabalin; muscle relaxants such as clonazepam and baclofen; tricyclic antidepressants such as carbamazepine, amitriptyline, and nortriptyline. The other option is surgery: Stereotactic radiosurgery, cutting or destroying part of nerve or removing blood vessel or tumor pressing it. If there is a tumor or blood vessel causing the symptoms then medical treatment will not help.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've had PNH for over 20 years and for the last 10 years or so the most effective dose was 400mg lamotrigine per day. But annoyingly it's got worse these past few months and I had to increase the dosage. I was discharged at Walton Centre in Liverpool several years ago but feel I'd like a new opinion. Does anyone know who or where new testing and research is taking place in the UK?
Avatar f tn I am now on 225 mg Effexor, 20 mg Prozac, 1 mg Rexulti, 200 mg Lamotrigine and 300 mg Gabapentin 3x a day. My anxiety is finally starting to ease. The only problem with my combo is how many serotonergic drugs I am on. Too many serotonergic substances can cause a potentially lethal condition called serotonin syndrome. I tolerate serotonergic drugs well though and have never had an issue with it. I would suggest to your doctor about maybe trying Effexor.
