So far I have not had any problems, but I am being very careful about checking myself for rashes and trying to notice any other possible side effects. I am on an orange starter pack and my psychiatrist asked to see me before he ups the dose next week. Do you have an apointment set up so you can be monitered while starting the medicine? Good luck! OK, now get you a calendar and put the amt to take on each day, even though starter pack say day#, The calendar helped me tremendously whan I started Lamictal. I crossed of each day on calendar when I took meds. Silly, But I rewarded myself with a small treat each time I completed a doseage amt for # of days, in the amt of time without stopping and starting. It is very important to do as MD for meds to be affective.
The specific reaction to Lamictal is called Stephen's Johnson syndrome and it is a rare and dangerous allergic reaction to it. When that happens if a psychiatrist or doctor diagnoses it they will stop the Lamictal. There are some other mood stabilizers and medications in general that can cause this reaction but many don't such as lithium and most others. That side effect is specific to Lamictal and that's why it has to be raised at a specific titrated rate as mandated by the FDA.
Been on about 3 months nownever had any problems with dizzy or clumsy ( no moe than normal) But the vision thing has been gradually getting worse, i just wrote it off to getting older, think i'llcheck with Doc now let yu know soon as i find out
i go to the pdoc friday ive got the stater pack for lamictal..have had it for 5 weeks from my gpdoc..i decided to just waite to see the pdoc he was waiting on my records to come in..now i go this friday..im taking the lamictal with me..if im just hypo manic and depressed this should help me..when i took lithiem it did great for me..so im the only one who knows what im going threw a pdoc these days are much, much difft then in the past 20 yrs or more..physiologist are the diagnoses..
ever since i've started taking lamacil, i've gained weight. i'm often hungry, and i'm often hungry, when i recognize, i shouldn't be. i've read posts that say it doesn't cause weight gain, but my weight gain started with taking lamactil, and i'm definitely searching for food at times that i shouldn't be.
So I was diagnosed with a form of bipolar(cyclothymia) and they put me on Lamictal. I’ve been on it for maybe 2 months and my mood has evened out completely. Before the Lamictal I wouldn’t be able to get out of bed I was so depressed but now I barely cry. But today I was going through my clothes and none of my shorts or pants fit me which are around size 4-6. This fit me fine a couple months ago.
t start at as high a dosage as you did - I started with the Lamictal starter pack 25 mg, then 50 mg, then 100, and stabilized on that (it took a month) then went to 200mg, where I really felt stable at 200mg. All together, it took me about 2 months, but began to feel the effects of being stable at about 3 weeks.
It affects everyone differently, and with you jumping right into 100mg, I can't say for sure. Honestly, I have been told that 200mg is the maximum dosage!
had the surgery to remove cyst removed. Doctor said he had to removel a little more then just a cyct that part of a tube? it's been a week now with ice pack my testical swelled to the size of a orange after a week it's still three times the size of the other one. won't see the doctor for 5 weeks. how long before this well get back to normal? any way to make the swelling go down?
s appointment I will be asking (for the second time) for topomax instead of the lithium and lamictal...or at least instead of the lithium....lamictal I am not sure about the weight with that.
I only lose my appetite if I am upset (which has always been my habit) but with these pills I have increased appetite. Risperdal was the worse for me....
I heard it was horrible too but to be honest it really wasn't bad just tasted like extra sugary koolaid. I had 3 minutes to drink it and I drank it in a minute lol!! I've only tried the orange.
I relapsed while on Lexapro and my doc started me on Effexor and Lamictal. The effexor was horrible for me, I felt awful and my blood pressure skyrocketed. The Lamictal is supposed to be a mood stabilizer. I am taking 200mg daily. My doc weaned me from Effexor and put me back on prozac 20mg (I stopped it several years back because it was making me extremely irritable). The prozac does not seem to be working like it did before.
