lamictal acne

i started on dilanton and now have been on keppra since about august 2007. i have had problem with acne in high school but i can tell that the meds are causing the bad acne. i have been dealingwith this for over a year now and am fed up with it.

Lamictal is a very successful drug for treating bipolar. Many people take it every day with no problems. But there are a few people that have problems in the form of a rash. Your doctor needs to research lamictal on the web because there is an extremely serious rash that can affect a person taking lamictal. Not saying you have the rash, but your doctor should know this. You need to see a psychiatrist that knows these drugs.

ok so im on lamictal and it just got upped. My neck and face and chest have small bumps....acne like bumps. Is this a side effect of the med. or are they talking about a WAY different kind of rash?

yeah lamictal for me - not acne but definite effect on my skin and i never had even a spot as a teenager! astonishing to have to deal with it at forty five!

Actually, flu like symptoms are some of the infrequent side effects of Lamictal. Between 1 and 5% of folks have that kind of reaction to it.I kicked up my dose of Lamictal last week and had the chills for two days, but it went away. I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless you get a rash. It a rash appears, then you need to be concerned. If this does happen, get a hold of you doctor right away..

Yaz--Generic (Both prescribed together for oil/acne control), Ambien (As needed for sleeping), Clonazepam--1/2 tab (Anxiety Med, also used for seizures but not out on that for any seizure symptoms).** Her bloodwork came back saying her sodium was low, but the CT was normal. I am BP and I try to convince my pdoc to try lamictal. He put me on tegretol instead which I couldn't bare. I read good things about lamictal. Why pdocs prefer AC as MS because more effective and longlasting than AP. Although I am on seroquel which is OK, I believe the best 2 meds invented so far though not tried neither is lamotrigine (lamictal) and abilify.

Lithium will destroy your thyroid.Please keep a check on your thyroid. I really wish doctors would quit prescibing lithium. There are so many better meds for bi polar than on ethat cn be toxic and kil body parts.

In June I went on Wellbutrin and Lamictal. My grandmother who I was best friends with died rather suddenly. I am so emotionally exhausted and my life feels like it's falling apart. I could go on and on. I do have female pattern baldness, but all of a sudden, since July, my hair has been falling out in huge clumps. I relapsed while on Lexapro and my doc started me on Effexor and Lamictal. The effexor was horrible for me, I felt awful and my blood pressure skyrocketed. The Lamictal is supposed to be a mood stabilizer. I am taking 200mg daily. My doc weaned me from Effexor and put me back on prozac 20mg (I stopped it several years back because it was making me extremely irritable). The prozac does not seem to be working like it did before.

I am on Lamictal and have no major side effects. The scary thing about it is you can get steven johnsons syndrom from it when you first start it. I have anxiety too and that scared the crap out of me and took me two days of trying to take it to build up the courage to do it. It is suppose to be a rare possible side effect though.

Everyone has to increase the dosage of lamictal (lamotrigine) slowly starting at 25mg. I have been on as high as 400mg but had to drop back down to 200mg because it is an antiseizure med and I am having ECT and 400mg would interfere with that. I have been on it for years and didn't see any difference in weight with it. Other drugs I am taking are not so weight friendly. I am now exercising and trying to diet but little success. How did you lose your weight?

Hi. This really isn't a question, but I wanted to pass this on to you...You might already be aware, I'm not sure....but I just called my pharmacy to refill my lamictal. I do the mail order thing and get a 3 month's supply. Lamictal didn't always have a generic....not that I'm aware of...anyway...it was costing me a whopping co-pay of nearly 180 bucks. Well, there IS a generic....I know most people don't like the generics, but they have always worked for me.

I'm 19 and have been epileptic for 6 years, I have tried a variety of medications including keppra (giving me suicidal tendencies) and a couple of others which didn't control seizures. The depressive episodes are kind of new to me; when I was cycling a lot, it was always towards the agitated mania side of the disorder. She's been pushing Lithium off and on over the oast few months; everytime I have a down swing. But, with every increase in Lamictal, my mood stabilizes more and more. If the Lamictal isn't effective as higher doses, then so be it, I'll work with the Lithium.

How long does it take for an increased level of Lamictal work? My doctor upped my mgs from 125 for 1 week, then 150. I've felt more restless and have a hard time comprehending things when my husband asks me a simple question, such as where is something. I don't like this feeling, but I'm holding out that this will help me, along with my current meds (Depakote, Cymbalta, Geodon). At this point, I just don't know what's working and what isn't.

I bet it isn't the lamictal, it's your worries and depression. living on the edge of a cliff all the time and feeling insecure makes the person concentrate less, have volatile memory especially the short one. This happens to all of us. I believe you should do something regarding your depression. Whereas it says that antidepressants worsen mania causing rapid cycling and mixed states, but most BP pts take them to be able to function.
