Common Questions and Answers about Knee surgery get well

knee

Avatar m tn Every knee and every individual differs and if you had a complication-free total knee replacement surgery and no post operative complications such as infections then you can improve your range of movement further by physiotherapy. I would suggest you to take NSAIDs and also to take a break for a day every 7-10 days and apply ice packs regularly and continue physiotherapy.
Avatar m tn I don't know how long I've been off now but I think close to a week and a half. I'm feeling great. My knee is fabulous. Infection is gone and zero pain. I am grateful I had surgery. Thank you everyone. I am heartbroken to hear of the passing of IBK. I am off to Bora Bora at the end of the month. Feels good to be off these meds.
Avatar n tn i had total knee surgery 2 months ago,i am still having pain,my knee is still swollen and i can not sleep at night is this normal, when will i start to feel better,i am still on pain med,but only twice a day.
5987839 tn?1381922502 I have spasticity in my legs - I take Baclofen in the morning, and before bed to keep it under control. My right knee is about to get an MRI, but I know there is at the least a torn meniscus and I am facing surgery. My MS is NOT happy with that leg! The spasticity has gotten so bad in that leg ... it feels like there is a grip on my leg from above my knee, to halfway down my calf, making it difficult to walk .... in addition to the pain and mobility issues in my knee.
Avatar f tn hi everyone, my knee is healing really well, i went to the doctors on monday and he said im healing really good, my scar looks pretty nasty though. Its HUGE :(. Also my hip has been getting worst and same thing with my back, and i know sitting around isnt helping but im in alot of pain and for a teenager to sit around and just hurt i know for sure its not normal.
6473455 tn?1381627629 So, in my opinion, you must discuss the risks and then first go ahead with aneurysm surgery and then with the knee surgery. Depending on the location, risk of hemorrhage, risk of rupture, family history, etc, your surgeon will estimate the risk. Also ask your ortho specialist whether there are other options for you except knee replacement surgery. Then if your neuro-surgeon feels you can wait for a year or more and have MRI in between to monitor progress, then you can wait this time.
Avatar m tn and was given a few strecthes and leg strengthening exercises to help with my knee problems. Well, after a solid two weeks of performing these exercises, my knee feels strong and well. But whenever i have to stretch and put my left knee into my buttox the entire knee feels an incredible amount of pain. Also, whenever I try and sit on my ankles, I am in HUGE amounts of pain just in the left knee.
Avatar m tn i had a knee surgery a year ago and now my knee is full of arthritis it still pops and ackes driving down the road i need the heat on the floor and little cool air makes it throb and acke is there anything i can do to get sum relief
Avatar n tn Please get treated for sinus infection before knee surgery. If no improvement they might want to postpone.
Avatar m tn I did have ACL reconstruction using allograft surgery on my left knee in 2001 as well as lateral and medial meniscus repair. All of this was revealed to both the doctor and PT both verbally and on the entrance paperwork. So my question is how am I supposed to recover from an ankle injury if there is an accompanying knee injury. Why was this never checked?? I understand that two surgeries at one time cannot be done, but it is just now being explored because of the instability.
Avatar f tn hi everyone its bee a while sense i posted anything, i just had knee surgery last thursday on june 30th and it was the worst pain in my life :(, but im healing and im hoping this will be my last surgery on my knees. the only problem is that from limping my hip has been getting worst and its hard to walk around because the pain shoots up my spine :(. so hopfully after my knee heals my hip will be next.
Avatar n tn 22 days clean and no knee surgery needed so I will not have to face a hurdle that I was expecting!!! MRI results were strong and the doc said a few more weeks of taking it easy and I can start running again but in a more responsible way... Anyway my road to recovery continues but I'm feeling great and about 85% back to normal (from detox and my old self) -- thank you all for your support!
Avatar f tn Well because of my feet and the numbness and all I have fallen several times and I have been lucky as not to really hurt myself, but about 3 months ago I feel and hurt my right knee which hurt like the devel but had to work since the other two in the office were off, next day I went into work still hurting and I feel again trying to save my right knee I tried to fall leaning towards the left, well long story short, I ripped a tendon or cartridge in the back of the knee which cannot be fixed no
Avatar f tn I have moderate knee pain most of the time, especially when I sit. The knee is swollen and looks as if it has a lot of fluid in it. My orthopedic surgeon has said that I will definetly have to have a total knee replacement but the time to do it is up to me. I am 67 years old and don't know if it would be better to do it before I get older. Any input will be greatly appreciated.
457721 tn?1256640798 I had this surgery done following an injury on my right knee approximately 2 years ago. Apparently I have a congenital defect that causes my kneecaps to dislocate easily...so just stepping off a curb has caused dislocation. I wait tables and a week ago I dislocated my left knee. (our floors are uneven...and I just happened to step on it wrong) This is a WHOLE other issue because I am having to file workers comp...and my employer is being a real *** about the situation.
Avatar f tn Well, about a year ago I had torn my meniscus and had surgery on it and had some of it removed. A month after that surgery, I started marching band and only iced during music rehearsals. Later in the year, my knee had started to hurt again while doing things. I also did a lot on the wii fit one day and that made my knee hurt a bunch as well. This summer though, I have been swimming a lot and there would be nights I would get home and my knee would ache for more than 30 minutes.
159619 tn?1707018272 Thanks for the feedback, it helps considerably. I'm going to ask the insurance company to reconsider and see if I can get the Orthopedic involved as well. I also think I'll just do one knee at a time, don't like the idea of both being done at once, seems it would make rehab more difficult. Also, I agree, the 7.5 mg of Hydrocodone is certainly a potent narcotic, I was not trying to downplay that fact.
Avatar m tn The anatomy of knee or knee joint configuration would have changed after the knee fusion surgery to do any sort of surgery after that. Yes I think an orthopedic surgeon experienced in knee replacement after knee fusion could possibly with difficulty could have done it. Keep me informed if you have any queries. Bye.
Avatar f tn The symptoms are not specifically indicative of a meniscal tear which if present would have been appreciated on a physical examination and the MRI. Well, the surgery is an arthroscopy to look directly into the joint through small incisions. It may run some risk of infection, inflammation etc but may occasionally be worthwhile to come to a conclusive diagnosis. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar n tn Left leg had an ankle fusion and know knee is hyperextended and causing more problems. Worried if I get knee replaced the fused ankle will do the same thing to the new knee.
Avatar m tn I take one ten ml in the morning and 1 to a half before bed to help me sleep. Well i have knee surgery monday and i am very afraid to tell my doctor. He is a knee doctor and never has prescribed me pain meds. I thought of telling just the anesthesiologist but am afraid of not having a prescription in my name. I think I should tell him so I dont have complications from the surgery but dont know the legal issues and basically really dont want them to judge me. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn It also showed some arthritis under the knee cap. The surgery included a scraping and shaping under the knee cap. After surgery there was still sensitivity on the medial side of knee. Surgeon said it was because of the way the knee was held open during surgery and it would fade. It did for a time and now it is back. If I move my left leg from left to right and have some resistance against the foot there will be a sharp pain in the medial meniscus.
Avatar f tn Hi Chickamin, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am glad that you found us but sorry to hear about your knee pain. It is difficult to speculate as to your prognosis. After three years you should be well past the healing and rehab stage of your surgery, Unfortunately I think, "what you see is what you get." "Bad knee" run in the females on my mothers side. Both aunts, grandmother, mother, two first cousins have required knee replacements from 40 and up.
280234 tn?1532986249 Anyone else here have knee surgery with an A1C that high?? Should we get a 2nd opinion where doctor was willing to operate on her knee with an A1C of 7.4?? Thanks, and information is appreciated!
