Avatar n tn Thanks a lot for the help, it was very informative. The idea of dashboard knees actually makes a whole lot of sense, after some thought I realized that during cycling I've nailed my bad knee on the cup holder a few times and the pain started after that. The pain had been getting worse almost daily so I think I'm going to set an appointment with an orthopedist. Thanks for the help!

587778 tn?1261397118 Well, in the last week, the are between my patella and thigh began to hurt badly, along the outside of my knee hurts all the way up into my thigh, on the inside the tenderness has progressed, also on the inside of my knee midway up my inner thigh I have a severe line of pain that I can also palpate. My knee and thigh are noticeably larger than the other other one. I am in so much pain.
Avatar m tn I was out running and the pain manifested at first at the back of my knee. It has variously been diagnosed as a knee sprain, torn meniscus, patella tendonitis. and we just don't know. Hopefully you'll get a more definitive diagnosis than I have. But you have to see the right professional to find out. You will probably be sent for X-rays and an MRI. Hope it works out.
Avatar f tn I developed frontal thigh pain in both legs after I had a knee replacement in the right knee. I have had an EMG and it showed that the pain was not coming from my spine. The pain is relieved when I am sitting but upon standing or walking, the pain is so severe that I cannot walk. I am only 62 years old and too young to be wheel chair bound. I take meds for fibromyalgia without success and strong pain relievers are not effective.
Avatar n tn Start with your feet hip-width apart, and perform lunges in three different directions on each leg, bending the knee to a 90-degree angle in the front and side directions, and slightly less than 90 degrees to the rear. Start by lunging forward with the left leg, then return to starting position. Then lunge to the left and back, returning to starting position between each direction. Repeat the series on the right leg to complete one full repetition, Try doing 15-20 repetitions.
Avatar f tn It felt as if the joint pain was moving, started in right elbow with a deep sharp pain and next was in left knee then left ankle tendon. Both calves hurt as if by vigorous exercise and were tender to the touch. By the weekend of March 10th it was in right ankle and shin bone-then right knee. Joints and muscles remain weakened and mildly achy even after the sharp pain subsides.
Avatar m tn I've had abdominal pain for over six months now and have had numerous tests that include; colonscope, endescope, CT scan, Hydascan, Blood Tests, Brain Scan, etc... With no results. In addition, to the abdominal pain I have sharp pains in my knees, ankles, elbows, feet, head and at the numerous nodules on my body. I've been to an Internist, Gastrologist, Surgeon and Chiropractor with no results.
Avatar f tn This post should be posted in the exercise forum. I will let them know to move it. You need to get the most out of each workout. Each exercise should work many different muscles for overall body toning. Exercises should produce results, be easy enough that you can do them and hard enough that you won't get bored. You can do four such exercises them at home or the gym with a set of dumbbells. Do three sets of 12 to 15 repetitions each every other day.

Avatar m tn Pain in the front portion of the knee can be caused by bursitis (inflammation of the lining of the joint, possible due to injury while playing), arthritis, or injury to the patella cartilage (front portion of the knee). Pain on either sides of the knee is usually related to meniscal tears, injuries to the collateral ligaments, and even to arthritis. You will need X-rays and MRIs of the knee to find the exact. Treatment will follow correct diagnosis.
Avatar m tn Is the pain under your knee cap or tendon? From what you are saying it sounds like your saying under your knee cap. You could have patellofemoral syndrome; very common for cyclists (read your bio). Try this website. http://www.med.umich.edu/1libr/sma/sma_patellod_sma.
Avatar m tn Hello! It's been four months now that my right knee is slightly swollen. The swelling is visible on the knee itself and the bottom part of my quadricep. It is not much but it's visible especially when compared with my other knee. I don't feel pain, only minor discomfort which gets a bit worse and spreads to a larger area (the discomfort, not the swelling) when I stand up or sit down for too long.
Avatar n tn Now unable to put full weight on Lt leg.No swelling behind knee/light swelling above front of knee cap.Pain when bending knee /more pain when bending with Lt toes pointed toward the outside. The snap seemed to come from behind and to the left end of the joint.Soreness/tightness remain. What could be happening?
Avatar f tn This term usually applies to pain in the front of the leg, occurring anywhere between the ankle and the knee. However, it can also refer to pain in the inner side of the lower leg. The pain in both of these areas is usually initiated by walking, running, or jumping. In extreme cases one can have pain in these areas while just standing still. My sister and her husband are long time avid cyclists and participate in events and races frequently.
Avatar m tn once i run, the knee gets warmed up n its ok, but later it starts paining, especially on inner side of knee and back. once i fold the knee, and then open leg, i have to press back of knee to straighten it up, wonder what has gone wrong?once i rest 2 days or so, it improves but recurs after every running session. what should i do?take up swimming or cycling, less susceptible to injuries?any suggestions, less going to doctor again please???
Avatar f tn but at almost 68yo, something had to give). One subject that kept surfacing on the Searches was an old time remedy of Castor Oil. I’m not in terrible pain, but it is a 24/7 aggravation, as anyone who has similar discomforts can attest to. I decided to give it a try; I purchased a package of ladies’ cosmetic, cleansing pads (~3”x4”) and a small bottle of Castor Oil (CO), I placed a pad on a saucer, saturated the pad with CO (not dripping) and popped it into the microwave for about 35 secs.
Avatar f tn I have a painful growth on the front of my knee. In 2012 I had a lipoma removed from the area. Within 2-3 years a new type of lump developed that was very different. It’s jelly like to the touch, very soft and painful to press on and it jiggles when I walk/run. It hurts worse at night and causes pain with some activity. I have a hard lump just beside it that feels like a knob on my bone. I’ve had an MRI and an Ultrasound on the area and the doctors state they do not see anything on the scans.
Avatar m tn The outside of my left knee (the left side) clicks whenever I'm bearing weight on it and I bend it more than about 45 degrees. When I touch it, what feels like a bone just above and to the left of the kneecap pops out a little bit. My right knee (which is fine) does something similar but much more subtle and I can't feel it unless I'm actually touching it.
Avatar f tn The location of the knee pain can be a useful guide to the cause of pain. Pain in the front portion of the knee can be caused by bursitis (inflammation of the lining of the joint, possible due to injury while playing), arthritis, or injury to the patella cartilage (front portion of the knee). Pain on either sides of the knee is usually related to meniscal tears, injuries to the collateral ligaments, and even to arthritis.
Avatar f tn However, she continues to have intense knee pain (7-8 on the 1 to 10 scale) on a constant basis when weight bearing. Her knee frequently gives out -- she falls a lot -- especially when bumped from the side. Her orthopedist has said probably patello-femoral syndrome (growth plates still marginally open) but acknowledges that the knee instability isn't consistent with that diagnoses (nor is the intensity of the pain).
Avatar n tn i was getting an awful pain in my knee when getting up from knelling down, also climbing stairs with the pain ,i could hear it creak.that was about three years ago.it comes back only when i go a few days without drinking goats milk.its too strong in tea first thing in morning.i have a glass for my dinner every day and in cornflakes once or twice a week. works for me .
Avatar f tn Hello. Last week I felt a pain in my right knee when walking downstairs. That happens sometimes and usually goes away the next day but this time it didn't and has been going on for over a week now. The pain is dull and not very strong. I noticed it happens when I shift more weight to the right leg- mostly when walking up and down stairs or when squatting and then standing up. It does not hurt when: I stand (even for a long time) or walk.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if posterior knee pain related to tight muscles? Front of knee is okay. It is causing me a great deal of discomfort.
