Avatar m tn Grade 1 tear in the anterior horn of the Lateral Meniscus and grade 2 tear in the posterior horn of the Lateral Meniscus noted ~Medial Meniscus: Grade 1 tear in the anterior horn of the Medial Meniscus and grade 2 tear in the posterior horn of the Medial Meniscus noted ~No significant joint effusion ~REST: NAD. The above is only for the right knee but I am pretty sure that the left knee is equally as bad if not worse.
1587585 tn?1309432260 I can straighten my leg all the way (but its sore) When I bend my knee back it really hurts. The pain seems to be coming from behind my knee. What do you think is causing the pain?
Avatar f tn The MCL is intact. LATERAL COMPARTMENT: Allowing for motion artifact, there is fraying to the lateral meniscal posterior horn free edge, and the posterior root is diminutive. Superficial chondral fibrillation is present at the posterior meniscal surface of the tibial plateau without subchondral remodeling. Intact lateral collateral ligament complex and structures of the posterolateral corner. INTERCONDYLAR NOTCH: The anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments are intact.
Avatar f tn a bakers cyst is a fluid filled sac in the back of the knee. inside your knee, providing padding on top of your tibia, there are two "pads" called menisci (medial and lateral) and by the report, it sounds like you have a tear to the lateral meniscus. a grade 3 tear is usually the worst. (grade 1, 2 and 3) truncated means 'short' so a short/small meniscus? (that would be my best guess:) i really dont know about the staying off the legs. and surgery...
Avatar n tn Rule out meniscus injury. TECHNIQUE: MRI of the knee was performed using the following sequences: axial, sagittal, and coronal proton density weighted with fat saturation; sagittal proton density weighted; sagittal 3D GRE. 284 images were presented for interpretation. Comparison(s): Right knee radiograph, 12/7/15 FINDINGS: Menisci: Medial meniscus: Horizontal tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus with extension into the body.
Avatar n tn Thanks a lot for the help, it was very informative. The idea of dashboard knees actually makes a whole lot of sense, after some thought I realized that during cycling I've nailed my bad knee on the cup holder a few times and the pain started after that. The pain had been getting worse almost daily so I think I'm going to set an appointment with an orthopedist. Thanks for the help!
Avatar f tn I did competitive gymnastics for over 11 years, and I always had some kind of knee pain. I never adressed it, because I figured that it was just from overuse. Now I am a rower in college, and I am having a lot of trouble with my knees. It started in January, so i went to see the athletic trainer at my college. After doing pt and stim and ice with her for over a month, i did not see any results.

Avatar f tn When i press lump there is irritability and pain. It hurts to straighten knee. I had an x-ray that shows a minor lateral patella tracking but my knee cap does not hurt. I have had this for a year, what can I do to fix this and go back to sport?

Avatar f tn the pain is at the right side of my right knee, its situated near the fibula, not indicating that my bone is the one hurting, the pain is distinctive as it only hurts in a manner or form of a thread, the pain doesn't take up all of the right part of my knee, its just a thread shape pain that seems to extend from the femur down to the fibula.
Avatar m tn Dear Dr Junig. I started with pain above my right knee (lateral side) 18 months ago, which then quickly translated into pain the whole length of my IT band. I had several months of physio, stretching strengthening exercises. I have had knee, hip and back x-rays, MRI scans on my back and hip, two knee operations for mild CMP and a lateral release. I have also seen a chiropracter and had a bio-mechanical assessment (othotics req'd).
Avatar n tn Not until I woke up from terrible pain several hours later did I know I had done something wrong. The pain was definitely located where the clicking/popping seems to be most prominent, the outside lateral posterior of the knee. The pain slowly subsided until Saturday when it was gone, but the instability I experienced prior to the re-injury returned. I have had medical attention on it. I had an MRI on it just last Friday morning. The MRI only found a strained patellar tendon.
Avatar f tn Hi my name is Ursula, I am 17 years old and when I was younger I had fallen off of a pyramid in cheerleading, as I got older I had consent intense pain in my right knee. Finally in October the doctor offered a Lateral Release as solution to my knee cap creating a new groove in my bone. The day after the surgery I was already feeling relief from the 10 years of constant pain. I am 2 months post- op and moving around better than I ever have.
Avatar n tn I had a bad fall about a year ago where I landed full force onto my knee which resulted in swelling and bruising that went from my knee down to my foot. I had pain on certain movements from then on. When I would get up sometimes my knee felt like it gave out. Also since then I have not been able to kneel down without pain in the kneecap.
Avatar m tn I experience many different kinds of pain in many different areas of the knee, everything from the type of pain that accompanies a bruise to pinching, burning, and stinging. It does not matter if my knee is bent, straigthened, or whether I am walking or resting. I would really appreciate some suggestions to help alleviate the pain.
Avatar f tn A little background.... I'm a 46yo fem skier symptoms of joint line pain and stiffness in the right knee. No locking or serious instability although the knee has given a couple of times. 18years prior I had a broken tibial plateau that required bone graft (freeze dried cadaver bone) with 2 screws and meniscus repair on the lateral side. Screws were taken out and the plateau had to be reshaped on both the lateral and medial sides to due excess bone growth from the repair.
Avatar f tn over the last 3 weeks I have been having alot of pain to the lateral side of my left knee. Mainly when I am standing from being in a squatted position. The pain is so bad I have to hold on to something and slowly straighten up. I can walk just fine. It hurts when I bend my calf to my thigh when I am shaving. Avatar n tn My problem started 2 yr back as sharp pricking pain along lateral aspect of the right knee with numbness(5 to 15%) when compared to other adjacent area. After some 3 to 4 months later in the same area there is tinigling sensation develop, this tingling slowly progressive towards thigh region 1 yr back pain in the lateral aspect of the left popliteal fossa develop which is sharp and burning nature and radiating towards calf muscles.
Avatar f tn Lateral lunges, front lunges, half squats, leg press, lateral step ups, knee extension (90-40 degrees), hamstring curls, hip adduction and abduction, hip flexion and extension, toe raises, try all of these under an instructor. I would suggest you to apply ice packs regularly to decrease the pain and inflammation and take intermittent pain killers and go for an MRI and also a second opinion. Take care!
Avatar n tn The pain is on the distal end of the femur on the lateral part of the bone. Almost a year ago the physician and I agreed to having a total knee replacement done thinking that the pain would subside. That was a joke! The pain is still just as bad as day one. I go back to the doctor in April and it doesn't look like it will be good news for him. Now I will have to have surgery on the Left knee joint. I will wait for that though.
