Avatar f tn So he came up with the diagnoses of skin lupus due to blood work. My knee was still swollen at a year post surgery so I scheduled an appointment with my knee surgeon. My knee surgeon comes up with the diagnoses that I am have a reaction to the graft used in my knee. He took some fluid from my knee and put me on some anti-inflammatory medication. The anti-inflammatory medication did help some but the swelling never went completely down.
Avatar n tn Hello I had an accident where I fractured a part of the tibial plateau. In one knee. It's a simple fracture from what I gather, 4-5 ? inches long, but the x-ray wasn't precise enough for the Ortho. who requested an MRI with a 3-D reconstucted image. She said that if there's too much distance between the bones, too much loss of alignment, surgery will be necessary. Haven't sought a second opinion yet, but I'm wondering if there aren't alternatives to surgery?
Avatar m tn sounds so to me my aunt keep getting operations on her knees one after the other as soon as they replce her knee thngs were alot better she said she ws in less pain an was wlking pretty much the next day
Avatar f tn t walk on my knee, it is swollen to double the size of my other knee, even my foot is swollen. The entire leg aches, but the knee hurts bad! It gets flashes of shooting pains, and it burns. It is extremely red (although I'm still on antibiotics) and it's hot (not any worse than before, though). I am SICK of this, they don't have a clue what is wrong, so they expect me to walk (or lack of) around like this, stoned on dilaudid, and being totally miserable.
Avatar m tn Also when I have my knee bent for a long time it’s very hard to straighten it. Sometimes when I walk the wrong way I drop to the ground suddenly because the pain is so bad. The only thing is is that it is not persistent. It’s not a constant pain. If anyone could tell me what is wrong that would help greatly. Thank you.

Avatar m tn Then he sent me for a blood test, no gout/uric acid, was a staph infection. 29 hours after the injection, I was in emergency and had 3 operations over 10 days to stop the raging, steroid infused staph infection. It's still a total mess, discoloration, constant pain and swelling in ankle and foot, deformity (big toe has turned sideways and is under the next two toes), and it's only getting worse. Do I have legal recourse?
Avatar n tn three operations-2 on r/knee with removal and 1-on left knee-pined togeather.
Avatar f tn Patients with a loose total knee joint limp. The pain is usually felt in the whole knee area, predominantly in the front, along with increasing stiffness and effusion in the knee joint. With advancing time patient will not be able to put weight and diminished motion in the joint. Diagnosis can be made with the help of X-rays. Revision operation can be considered if there is unbearable pain, progression of osteolysis and loss of function.

Avatar m tn I'm not taking any meds, none that were perscribed for me worked. The tests I can remember were a tilt table test,an MRI,bloodwork for ataxia(I think I spelled it right)hearing check(the doctor said I have "excellent" hearing)X-rays.I called the neurologist, and asked for copies of everything he perscribed, and results of the different tests he suggested.Emory is in Atlanta,I live in south Georgia,so it would be an almost 500 mile round trip.
Avatar m tn I have had knee, hip and back x-rays, MRI scans on my back and hip, two knee operations for mild CMP and a lateral release. I have also seen a chiropracter and had a bio-mechanical assessment (othotics req'd). Nothing was found, joint spacing etc fine except for some fraying of the cartilage on the posterior lateral aspect of my patella. The lateral release was to see if it could alieviate the pain and give the IT band some laxity.
647391 tn?1275016633 This is because of damage to the knee and missing cartilage. What is your thoughts as to someone my age having knee replacement surgery. Also, what is the quickest recovery you have seen for someone with knee replacement surgery?
497951 tn?1209829733 I have knee problems and will most likely need a knee replacement on my right knee eventually. Also, I have heard the excuse about *scar tissue.* I had carpal tunnel surgery on my right wrist in Oct. 2007, and it still bothers me and the doctor blamed it on scar tissue. I don't know. I'll be honest, I don't really know what to tell you. I have a lot of joint and muscle pain and other problems with blood pressure, cholesterol, etc.
Avatar m tn im 44 6 ft 5 325, Ive had 7 operations on my left knee. ACL repaired and both cartlidges removed. I cannot stand more than a couple of hours because of the pain. I cannot straighten it nor bend it more than 45 degrees. Would a knee replacement be my best alternative to getting my lie back?
Avatar f tn Please HELP!!!! My 78 yr old mother has been experiencing continous painful sores/blisters in her mouth with pain in jaw up to temple area. She has been to two dentists, two primary care physicians, alerists, ENT, urgent care & emergency room twice, no one has been able to diagnose the problem & have put her on anitibiotics approx. 10 times now. The antibiotics do begin to help but within in 2-3 days after stopping the antibiotics the problem is back.
Avatar f tn Hi, this was happening to me and last year i was took in hospital had an ultra sound and they said everything was normal but my periods were really heavy and lasting weeks, then they tried to tell me i had IBS!!? I then got took in again with abdominal pain and heavy bleeding again which i was told was a grumbling appendix!!
Avatar m tn Hello, current surgical techniques such as arthroscopies and current post operative regimens, such as early mobilization have made most knee operations more patient friendly. Doctors are also more attuned to pain and are more eager than ever before to find ways to minimize it. Persistent pain following surgery can be due to a hematoma. Admittedly, there are times where persistent pain does not have an obvious cause. MRI can help in finding some lesion which might be causing pain.
Avatar n tn if any one else has experienced something like this plz help me to understand this.moreover doctor has suggested for her an operation for the knee replacement but she doesn't have strenght enough to undergo this surgery as she had already two operations i.e uterus removal ang gall bladder removal.. plz give me some information if anybody has this kind of experience. i'll be so grateful.
Avatar f tn I have had a gait disorder for two and a half years now, the neurologists cant find out what is wrong, I initially had an emg with results of myopathy, the neuros now want to say it is a conversion disorder, I am sure it is not and my right side is worse than my left and my walking unfortunately is getting worse, when I walk my feet slap on the groung, my right foot drags, and my thigh muscles are turning in, any ideas?
Avatar n tn And to add to the above, linament is usually warming, and your problem may be inflammation, which requires ice, not warming. All depends on what's wrong with the knee.
