I had a knee replacement a year ago and am having pain. I was curious . . . how did they know the glue was deteriorating? Did they do an MRI? I just had and MRI and have been told it could be "mild loosening, bone stress reaction, or stress response". My Dr.'s onlt response was, if it's bad enough redo the knee replacement surgery. How long ago was your replacement surgery?

I had to have total knee replacement on my knee in 2003 now after 3 operations I am left with a partial bent knee and missing out on life. Is there any hope for me?

Hello I had an accident where I fractured a part of the tibial plateau. In one knee. It's a simple fracture from what I gather, 4-5 ? inches long, but the x-ray wasn't precise enough for the Ortho. who requested an MRI with a 3-D reconstucted image. She said that if there's too much distance between the bones, too much loss of alignment, surgery will be necessary. Haven't sought a second opinion yet, but I'm wondering if there aren't alternatives to surgery?

Anyone able to comment on how long it is practical to hold off on knee replacements? Have severe arthritis of knee caps and all compounded with fall on knees. Pain varies every day. Fear the complications of knee replacements though told I will know when to have the needed surgery. In my golden years and carrying out exercise and pain management. Any comments appreciated.

I was involved in an accident where the MRI states I have moderate cartilage loss around patella, joint effusion and a marginal flap on patella ridge. This has cased popping, grinding painful sensations in the knee. Its very hard for me to walk as I'm always limping ect......Is sergury recommended for this?

where as the specialist we seen at another hospital advised us that there is nothing more that they can do for his eye! I am not trying to put the blame onto anyone...but after reading online that if a retina is detached for more than a week the vision part of it can be lost all together...so my question to the ppl involved is...why wait near a week to operate if they were aware of this?

Everything came back normal but one thing is bothering me. The MRI report said: with note of mild myxoid degeneration in the posterior medial meniscal horn. Can someone help me understand??

So, is there any coverage for you insurance wise to see a physical therapist? they can show you stretches and exercises to do to help strengthen the knee. And Ibuprofen is good for reducing swelling/immflamation and pain. My pt has told me to take 4 200 mg tabs of ibuprofen. I was reluctant but they felt it would help. Another thing I use is arnica cream bought at the drug store. It's holistic and hey, why not? It always seems to help. I like the icy hot type patches too.

im 44 6 ft 5 325, Ive had 7 operations on my left knee. ACL repaired and both cartlidges removed. I cannot stand more than a couple of hours because of the pain. I cannot straighten it nor bend it more than 45 degrees. Would a knee replacement be my best alternative to getting my lie back?

Honestly I don't know... There are so many "treatments" out there with the intent of curing. If such treatments work I'm not sure if I'd go for it. There are things that could stand to be improved with training or treatment, like being face-blind and having very little sense of timing (for me my rhythem is almost always off in conversation...thus I tend to interrupt when I think the person is pausing...

hi Laura, My last TSH, T3, T4 showed a slightly below norms being used now in all three. I take Tarka for blood pressure, tylenol plus codeine for pain (two knee replacements) ambien to sleep. My new script provider switched me to generic syntroid and I think I feel the difference. I will talk about all of this to doc in two weeks. Will live through the mornings until then . I'm going to ask him to add anything to my blood work that could affect anxiety, like estrogen, cortisol,etc.

Hi my left tibia is somewhat dislocated and causes me pain when I walk and do squats (weight training). When I walk I get pain in the shin (tibia), calf, and Achilles tendon, and when I squat I get pain in my knee and sometimes tibia. I can also feel the top of my tibia moving when I walk sometimes. I have had knee, hip and back x-rays, MRI scans on my back and hip, two knee operations for mild CMP and a lateral release. I have also seen a chiropracter and had a bio-mechanical assessment (othotics req'd). Nothing was found, joint spacing etc fine except for some fraying of the cartilage on the posterior lateral aspect of my patella. The lateral release was to see if it could alieviate the pain and give the IT band some laxity.
