operation

Avatar m tn i have recently had a knee operation to fix the cartilage. on investigating they found that my femor and knee cap was in a bad way and worn and in time i will need a knee cap replacement, however thankfully not at the present time. Iam a fit person who teaches amrtial arts. My problem is that it has been weeks since my operation but the knee is still badly swollen and sore and i am still struggling to straighten it and bend it behonf 40 degrees..
Avatar m tn Hello, I have had 3 arthroscopies on my left knee to repair my lateral horn meniscus in September 2009, January 2014 and March 2015. Each time after the operation and recovery my knee begins to feel good and strong again. After 1 and a half year since my last operation my knee has felt great, however 5 days ago I squatted down (asian squat toilet), and instantly knew I had torn the cartilage again. Since this moment my left knee has a constant ache/throb.
Avatar m tn i went to doctor then for MRI on his advice the MRI says FINDINGS ARE SUGGESTIVE OF GRADE 1 INTERAMENISCAL TEAR IN THE POSTERIOR HORN OF THE MEDIAL MINISCUS AND MILD SYNOVIAL EFFUSION apart from this everything was fineLATERAL MENISCUS was NORMAL.BOTH ACL &PCL ARE NORMAL.THE MEDIAL AND LATERAL MENISCI ARE NORMAL.
Avatar f tn My dog had two knee surgeries this year. One was a TTA to repair her ccl. Then while healing from that they discovered her patellar tendon was torn so we repaired that. Now her knee is fine but at vet yesterday they found that the wire used to repair is exposed on outside of her knee. There is no infection or even sore skin. It’s just slowly becoming more and more exposed. How can this be fixed? Our appt with surgeon is in one week. Is this an emergency?
Avatar m tn At 7 days post operation should I no longer be elevating my knee? Should I be sleeping with my knee elevated? I’ve read some places it slows down healing when you elevate your operated upon leg after the 48-72 hour mark after the surgery. Also I read some places icing your knee after the 72 hour mark after surgery can slow healing as well. Can anyone confirm or deny either?? Thanks!
647391 tn?1275016633 What is your thoughts as to someone my age having knee replacement surgery. Also, what is the quickest recovery you have seen for someone with knee replacement surgery?

Avatar f tn The orthopedic surgeon has said that he thinks he can save my ACL ligament via an operation without the use of a graft. He said by doing this type of operation it will be much better in terms of healing ect. I have to do this operation within 8 weeks of the injury occurring or he said it isn't possible and I would have to have a different operation. I have been trying to research this style of operation but I can only find the option where it talks about using a graft from other body parts.
Avatar m tn My mom was operated of right parietal meningioma on December 14 2009. She has problems with: -getting dressed and personal heygen -orientation (she cant tell left from right) -short term memory (sometimes she things an event that happened today, happened 2 weeks ago) -math problems -lethargy -iritability -no phisical problems Her mengioma was 5 cm.Also there is some blod left after the operation but I've been told it doesnt press on the brain.
Avatar n tn Thus, ACL prevents the tibia from sliding too far forward and also contributes stability to other movements at the joint including the angulation, rotation at the knee joint. When an ACL injury occurs, the knee becomes less stable and there is a sensation that the knee will 'give out' from under them. Consequently, there would be difficulty in doing high demand work beyond the activities of daily living.
Avatar n tn I think she was feeling a pinched nerve type sensation. When the nerves get irritated, they'll tend to tingle and feel numb...with RLS people, it's a neuromuscular problem, you can see the muscle fibers ripple when it gets bad and the nerves are misfiring all over the place, and some describe it as ants crawling on their legs, so that's what I think was going on. It's just the way she's wired.
Avatar n tn What is the recovery period after knee surgery for full thickness articular cartilage defect
Avatar m tn Hi, ‘bowing’ leads to increased load on the inner side of the knee causing further wear and tear. In this entire process, the outer side of the knee joint is virtually intact. Osteotomy is now available for patients who have not reached the last stages of arthritis. This involves realigning i.e. straightening the bowed knee the knee in such a manner that the load on the inner side of the knee is transferred to the outer side of the knee.
Avatar f tn In your previously posted question (10/14/15) I said that this operation is unusual and recovery is not as fast or predictable as the standard cataract removal insertion of IOL done in an adult. The complication you have is not rare. The white stuff is usuallyy as Soemmering's Ring dislocation see link below. http://bjo.bmj.com/content/35/4/226.full.pdf This is not a minor operation. This will reset the clock to day one again.
Avatar n tn Below are the findings of my knee MRI please suggest in this case should i go ahead with the arthoscopy or shall take a treatment..
Avatar f tn t think I can wait and see and hope that if it does get worse they will cover an operation several years later. Wondering if surgery really is necessary, not sure if it is in the red-red zone or red-white zone. If I do surgery what is realistic for recovery time?
Avatar f tn I have a chronic pain condition that I learned to live with out taking pain meds all the time until I injured my knee 6 months ago. So for the last 5 months, I have been taking vicodin and or Norco. I guess you could say that I have become somewhat an addict. I've tried to detox off of them 3 times coldturkey and it is not easy to say the least. The withdrawal synptoms are horrible. I didn't think taking 4-6 tabs a day was that much but I guess it is.
Avatar m tn The anatomy of knee or knee joint configuration would have changed after the knee fusion surgery to do any sort of surgery after that. Yes I think an orthopedic surgeon experienced in knee replacement after knee fusion could possibly with difficulty could have done it. Keep me informed if you have any queries. Bye.
Avatar f tn I had the titanium rod and plate removed from my leg and ankle after several months and made a full recovery. My ankle was also freed up during the removal operation and my mobility increased as I had a pinched nerve in my leg from the rod so it was quite a relief. I then responded much more positively to physio and exercise. I still have some nerve sensitivity in my ankle and down my leg but it is not intolerable.

Avatar n tn I have had two abalatons done in 2008 and a electrocardioversion done in 2011 all unsuccessful. Is the recovery time about a month? thanks for your help, I'm a little anxious.
Avatar n tn I have a fair amount of pain on the inside of the injured knee, and find it difficult to weight bear specifically on that leg (can't even get started on a single leg squat). The OS said the knee was pretty badly damaged, and he had to repair the meniscus by shaving it and also removed a piece of the torn cartilage. Just wondering if i'm way behind on the recovery, or should i do more exercises?
Avatar m tn ve ulnar Nerve palsy and wasting of hand muscle and doctor says I will need operation to fix it. It is painful news and says even operation will not result full recovery - ... Doctor says many reasons causing it. I believe it must be due to diabetes condition causing nerve damage and finally palsy.... I've been reading websites to see possible non-surgery alternatives. Perhaps, I'm dreaming...... Thanks .
