Avatar m tn Hello, I have had 3 arthroscopies on my left knee to repair my lateral horn meniscus in September 2009, January 2014 and March 2015. Each time after the operation and recovery my knee begins to feel good and strong again. After 1 and a half year since my last operation my knee has felt great, however 5 days ago I squatted down (asian squat toilet), and instantly knew I had torn the cartilage again. Since this moment my left knee has a constant ache/throb.
Avatar f tn I had a vitrectomy to repair a macular hole 9 months ago and have been told that it is likely that i will develop a cataract. I have to go for a check up next week and i was wondering that if i do have a cataract how long is the recovery time,i am retired so i don't have to work ,but i do look after my 8 month old grandson while my daughter works. I have heard that you can't do any bending and lifting after a cataract operation, but not sure for how long.
Avatar m tn There is variance in recovery times. Some patients were back at work in five weeks others several months. Your current health status may put you in the several weeks category. For some insight, right after the surgery, you will be kept in ICU unit and closely monitored for around 24 hours to 48 hours. . If there are no complications, you will leave the ICU and be placed in a normal hospital room where you can recover.
Avatar m tn At 7 days post operation should I no longer be elevating my knee? Should I be sleeping with my knee elevated? I’ve read some places it slows down healing when you elevate your operated upon leg after the 48-72 hour mark after the surgery. Also I read some places icing your knee after the 72 hour mark after surgery can slow healing as well. Can anyone confirm or deny either?? Thanks!
647391 tn?1275016633 What is your thoughts as to someone my age having knee replacement surgery. Also, what is the quickest recovery you have seen for someone with knee replacement surgery?
Avatar f tn My dog had two knee surgeries this year. One was a TTA to repair her ccl. Then while healing from that they discovered her patellar tendon was torn so we repaired that. Now her knee is fine but at vet yesterday they found that the wire used to repair is exposed on outside of her knee. There is no infection or even sore skin. It’s just slowly becoming more and more exposed. How can this be fixed? Our appt with surgeon is in one week. Is this an emergency?
Avatar n tn It seems to me that at this point in time (after the operation) that the results would/should be somewhat better than before the operation.

Avatar n tn What is the recovery period after knee surgery for full thickness articular cartilage defect
Avatar n tn I think she was feeling a pinched nerve type sensation. When the nerves get irritated, they'll tend to tingle and feel numb...with RLS people, it's a neuromuscular problem, you can see the muscle fibers ripple when it gets bad and the nerves are misfiring all over the place, and some describe it as ants crawling on their legs, so that's what I think was going on. It's just the way she's wired.
Avatar f tn Hi there! Well, without a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to comment on if surgery would be required at this stage or would be the best option. While minor tears are usually managed conservatively, surgery may be required in a few cases. You may consider seeking a second opinion with another orthopedician at this time, to be certain of the appropriate management plan. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn In your previously posted question (10/14/15) I said that this operation is unusual and recovery is not as fast or predictable as the standard cataract removal insertion of IOL done in an adult. The complication you have is not rare. The white stuff is usuallyy as Soemmering's Ring dislocation see link below. http://bjo.bmj.com/content/35/4/226.full.pdf This is not a minor operation. This will reset the clock to day one again.
Avatar f tn I fractured my tibia and fibula in December and it felt like I would never get better even after they put a rod, plate and screws in there. I had the screws that held the rod in place taken out because I had some pain walking and that really helped. The incision above my knee to put the rod in the tibia bothered me for a long time and the knee hurt all the time which I didn't expect. I do think it has gotten better and it has been 9 months since surgery.
Avatar m tn hi did u have fusion i had right knee fusion 5 months ago and im really struggling thanks
Avatar m tn Hi, ‘bowing’ leads to increased load on the inner side of the knee causing further wear and tear. In this entire process, the outer side of the knee joint is virtually intact. Osteotomy is now available for patients who have not reached the last stages of arthritis. This involves realigning i.e. straightening the bowed knee the knee in such a manner that the load on the inner side of the knee is transferred to the outer side of the knee.

Avatar n tn I can tell you that the more work you put into your recovery, the more you will get in return. Although I spent A LOT of time and energy on my knee rehab, I have never been able to get back to the way a was before. I think part of this is psychological. After spending so much time favoring your bad leg, I think you are always a bit weary to go full force on it. Did you have a allo or autograft? If auto, was it a hamstring graft? That also makes a difference in your recovery time.
