1280753 tn?1367757932 so the questions is can you take antibiotics while in treatment? i have no allergies to antibiotics. i go for my 2 week labs this friday and i have an appointment with my NP next friday.....sidenote: i feel like i have an infection.
250701 tn?1320974765 I took antibiotics quite a bit while on treatment but not because I was sick, I don't actually recall being sick on treatment. I was on antibiotics to keep me from getting sick when my white counts dropped, first it was run of the mill antibiotics and eventually heavy duty ones that ran about $750 for about a 200ml bottle. So...yes, you can take antibiotics while on treatment and some docs will put you on them as a preventative measure depending on your individual circumstances.
Avatar n tn For the last two and a half years I have been on Ketek ( twice a day ) , ceftin ( twice a day), diflucan( once a day), plaquenil(twice a day) and pantoloc. I also take ton of acidophilus. I wennt off all of them the first of July this summer. I am quite a bit better but still suffer from extreme fatigue, and muscle twitching. I am wondering if you think I should try some other antibiotics?
1094370 tn?1317134825 Saw my LLMD in San Francisco on Friday and he said that my Erlichoisis is cleared but wants me to stay on my meds (Ketek & Cipro) for another 30 days. My testing for lyme is still coming up positive and there were more positive bands and stronger ones than my last test three months ago. He said that the meds I'm currently are on do not treat lyme. After this course of meds, I am switching to Amox & Biaxin to begin treating the lyme. My CD57 shot up from like 20 to 87 though!

Avatar f tn Below is copied from Dr Burrascano's treatment guidelines for Lyme (posted on the ILADS website), including an entry on doxycycline [aka doxy] dosage: "Adults: 200 mg bid [meaning twice a day] with food; doses of up to 600 mg daily are often needed, as doxycycline is only effective at high blood levels." So perhaps your doc's doses are on the light side -- I'd ask him, but sometimes docs get huffy. I'd ask him anyway. It's your health we're talking about.
428506 tn?1296557399 5+ months into treatment. I pulse mino, zith, and bactrim for Lyme and Bartonella. I have possible Babesia, but my LLMD is unsure. I've had an obvious response to treatment, including worsening of symptoms followed by periods of improvement. But I am not be able to maintain any of these gains overtime. I also have some symptoms that are unresolved, even worsened, since starting treatment.

Avatar f tn Do most people start treatment right away or do you wait if you are not symptomatic? I keep having these moment where I need to know all the answer and all the next steps. And then for a moment I'm ok. Is it better to get my body in shape before undergoing treatment (kind of like preparing for battle). I all ready have aches and pains and am over-weight. Would treatment intensify this?
4549134 tn?1363193215 For persons with either genotype 2 or 3 HCV, the high SVR rates coupled with the shorter duration of treatment has prompted many experts to proceed with treatment without obtaining a liver biopsy" http://depts.washington.edu/hepstudy/hepC/mgmt/hcvtxit/discussion.html 3. Discuss your treatment options as well as the implications of each choice (some options would be to treat with dual, wait for all orals, do nothing).
Avatar f tn well my husband starts treatment tuesday night. what should we expect? the dr. said to take a couple of tylenol before we come in. for what? and should it be tylenol pm so he can come home and just sleep? i hope thats not a dumb question.
Avatar n tn after you post your last blood work up here - and it seems that you should be having treatment - wave bye-bye to this doctor and get a good one!
Avatar f tn After I found out I had HepC, I got tested again, had the liver biopsy and was offered to start treatment. But, my viral load is only 160,000, and my liver showed only slight cell inflamation. The nurse said I should start while I feel good. I wonder if the viral load was low becasue before having the biopsy and viral load count, I spent a year taking high doses of milk thistle and basil, and plenty of vitamins. I think my viral load count is relatively low.
