Avatar f tn Complex partial seizures can develop into larger seizures (generalized seizures) and cause you to go unconscious. Again, I hope you can see your doctor soon. Try posting your question on the epilepsy forum. You will probably have better luck getting your questions answered.
Avatar n tn Seizures continued for months until one day after having multiple seizures and calling the neuro office and being told that he would out grow it, I took him to his regular pediatrician....and just in time too I might add. As we walked in the door he had a tonic clonic seizure, stopped breathing and was immediately admitted to the hospital and started on phenobarbital..another eeg was done....NORMAL RESULTS AGAIN!!..No seizures during the eeg, so.......
Avatar m tn 04/12 changed him to Dilatan and keppra more seizures. 05/12 put back on keppra only 3,500 mg. 06/12 seizures moved to keppra 4,000 mg a day! He has had only 1 seizures since been on 4,000, but this is a very high dosage. He is going to see an seizures specialist. Hoping he can get this dosage down.
Avatar n tn Hello, I wish to have kids in a near future, currently I am taking Keppra (3,000 mg a day), it has completly control my seizures and I feel fortunately for this. However, I will like to know if this is a safe medicine to get pregnant with. I know it is still consider as new medicine for epilepsy, and there might be risks for birth defects. I just want to make sure if there has been new research about this medicine and pregnancy, I will like my future children to be healthy.
Avatar m tn My name is Joy and in 2000 I had a very large frontaltemporal meningioma removed by surgery I was lucky that I had a lot of medical training was an emt for 12 years and I recognized I was seriously ill and thought it was a brain tumor long story short I had a dr who kept telling me it was only job stress. At the time I was working at a medium security mens prison. Not stressful for me at all its just how you deal with life. Being a take c harge person I fired the quack dr.
Avatar m tn As my DD is in Keppra, and has previously been on other seizure meds, the Keppra, by far has had the least amount of side-effects. You could ask if some of her mood changes, memory loss, etc. are from the stroke vs. the Keppra. Please do not wean her off the medication without a Dr's directive... that could cause withdrawal seizures. My thoughts are with you that your mother gets well soon.
Avatar f tn This past Thanksgiving, he had a total of 5 seizures over 24 hours necessitating a hospital visit and stay. They put him on a third seizure medication (Lamotrigine). I spoke with a neurologist at USF who didn't like that a 3rd medication was added before his previous two were maxed out--he was already on Keppra (max dosage) and Depakote (sprinkles--very low dose), so she titrated him up on the Depakote so we could get rid of the Lamotrigine. Well, that worked.
452529 tn?1361847855 Sorry about the typos...I forgot to mention. I have grand mal seizures and myoclonic seizures.
Avatar f tn Anyone else on Keppra to prevent myoclonic jerks (JME diagnosed)? I am, and have been on Keppra for almost 5 years. Started at age 23 and I am now 28. At the beginning they made me very sluggish, but after about 2 months I felt wonderful (since it was the first time in my life I wasn't having seizures!!
Avatar f tn So after staying overnight and at the vet the next day he came home and has been on Keppra and phenobarbital. 500mg 2x a day Keppra and 60mg 2x a day pheno. He has the side effects which are lessening but hasn't been as bad as I read could be. He is very responsive and is pretty much himself besides the side effects(weak legs, tired). It's been 6 days and no seizures so far. Will be going to vet in a week for check up and blood test again. I am so on edge..
Avatar n tn same thing here I was on 3000 mg of keppra/day and kept haveing 25-30 partial seizures a month and every 3 months I would have a short term memory loss, I would feel funny then confused i would ask my wife questions and we would realize i could not remember anything short term like the entire morning or previous evening.
16199931 tn?1446049201 My Boston Terrier is 15 y.o and has been having seizures for the past 18 months. She has also been pacing and barking every few hours throughout the night for the past 18 months. Since she has been on PB she has a seizure every 6 weeks, but the pacing and barking are exhausting us all. She gets Valium twice a day to reduce the barking and pacing, but I really don't know that it helps. I started using Bach's Pet Rescue Remedy for her pacing/"dementia" symptoms.
Avatar m tn Without any hesitation, I was allowed to continue playing football for the rest of my high school career. Since my seizures, I have been put on Keppra and have been completely seizure free. My question is whether or not it would be alright for me to compete in amateur boxing; more specifically, is there any evidence that blows to the head/concussions could aggravate my disorder or make it worse?
Avatar f tn Hello I have been taking Keppra for migraines. It doesn't seem to be helping much and I don't want to put up with the side effects. In my research I see that people take it mainly for seizures and taper off of it very slowly due to the risk of their seizures returning. My question is since I don't have seizures and was taking it for migraines is there any need to taper? Thanks for any info!
Avatar f tn I to have been taking Keppra and told can't drive for six months, yesterday my Oncologist informed me that only a Neurologist can authorize driving and I will need to probably get off keppra to get permission to drive. Was also informed that you can not just stop this drug.
479255 tn?1208116148 Regarding Keppra, if you are on the maximum dosage and still getting seizures, you may need to add a 2nd medication. My son continued to have seizures with the max Keppra and now is on Keppra and Depakote.
Avatar f tn Hello Kylie you have been struggling for a long time with tramadol. Not sure if the keppra would prevent seizures from the tramadol. How do you plan to taper and get off the tramadol? Have you been to counseling?
559697 tn?1243286385 My son was on Keppra, (750mg 2X day) his doctor changed him to KeppraXR same dosag because he was having more seizures. Since he has been on Keppra XR, still seizures and constant jerking movements in hands and very unsteady when standing. Not getting enough sleep @ night. Took him to ER last night, increase dosage to 2000mg per day. His hands jerk from about 11am to about 7pm or 8pm, then he has a seizure. Sleeps about a hour & half. Have anyone had these problems taking Keppra XR?
Avatar f tn Also, what is Valproate? Is it for seizures? I have read that Keppra interferes with memory and learning new material. Have you any opinion on this? 3. Also, she developed ringworm rash while on Lamictal. Do you think it's related? She is now beginning Keppra. Thanks!
