Avatar f tn I was orginally on Depo-Provera for 1 1/2 years (never had a period), switched to Seasonale (major nausea), then switched to Tri-Sprintec (my chest got huge on this pill), and then to Kariva (was great!). I was on Kariva for 10 months. I never took the placebo week, so I never had a 'period'. However, if and when I missed a pill or took it a little late, I always had spotting for a day or two.
Avatar f tn Hi- I am a 17 year old girl and I have been on birth control pills for a little over a year and a half now. I was originally prescribed Ortho-Tricyclen Lo but was switched to Kariva in May of this year because it was said to be the "less expensive generic brand" of Tricyclen Lo. I always felt a little more irritable and noticed my skin got a little more sensitive when I originally started taking the pill, but nothing too bad.
Avatar f tn Last Wednesday I got my period, and I began taking Kariva Birth Control. On friday, My boyfriend and I decided to have sex, which was dumb, but we used a condom with spermicide on it and in it. After a little bit, the condom popped and he pulled out immediately without ejaculating at all. Then we were finished. I know that people say that girls can get pregnant on their periods, however, i was only on the 3rd day of my cycle and i highly doubt that i could have ovulated so early...
Avatar f tn In Aug 2007 I started taking Kariva 28 day and stayed on it until Aug 2009. A few months before this, I began having issues with my cycle. I wasn’t getting my period, I got my period early plus the full week I was supposed to, and then I was spotting several days a month. I then found out I had Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and started treatment hoping that would help. I didn't. I went on Portia 28 for 5 months, Junel 1.5 30 tab for 3 months and now I’m on Junel 1/20.
Avatar m tn I am on Kariva birth control. I missed 2 or 3 pills the week that i had sex. We used protection everytime except penetration once for like 30 but he did not ejaculate. I took plan b (the one pill version) between th 48 and 72 hour mark. It has been 2 weeks since and my period has been a couple days late and very very light (dark brown). I know that the plan b causes disruptions in menstrating and so does missing pills but id like to lnow if im just overly paranoid.
1063764 tn?1272821064 I am also on the birth control pill Kariva. I was told that they would not interfere with each other, however something is not right and I was just wondering if anyone out there could help me out. I can't get back to the endocrinologist for another 4 months for my next test, so I did not want to stop the medication. Does anyone know how long it stays in your body...I was considering not taking it for a few weeks just to see if this cleared up.
Avatar f tn i know all birth controls are different, but they have a lot of similar side effects. i was on yasmin, seasonique, kariva, and now sprintec. the first two that i mentioned: i had my period for about a month. sometimes it just takes a while for your body to adjust. for me it eventually regulated.
Avatar f tn ve been on birth control for about 3 years and this month I only took two weeks of the pill and started right to my placebo pills this week after we had sex. I'm wondering if because I skipped to my placebo pills a week early will that cause me too ovulate and get pregnant? I'm kind of freaking out. I couldn't afford my next week of pills so I only had my placebo pills left and took them so that I didn't have to skip any until I can buy them.
11728532 tn?1451774466 Hi there, I'm an 18 y/o female and I have taken birth control ( Kariva -- to be specific) since I was 15 to treat PCOS. About a month ago, I had intercourse and afterwards I bled heavily and had cramps for a week. I should not have gotten my period for another two weeks according to my pills. When I took the pills that started my period, It was very light and ended two days early. We used a condom but I'm scared.
Avatar m tn m a 21 year old who just stopped the pill after 5 years of being on it consistently. In October I was switched from Azzurette to Kariva, just a generic brand switch. I hated it and decided to go natural and stop the pill all-together around November 13. I got my "withdrawal period" right after.
Avatar f tn orthotrycyclinn made me have two cycles a month but every pill they gave me did that instead of makeing my periouds lighter it made me have more and heavier ones, plus i lost a lot of weight on birth control i was on kariva, low loesestrin fe, abri, orthottycyclin, and two other ones all of them did the same thing they helped witht he cramps but i had more cycles than i was suppposed to.
Avatar n tn Well she did get her withdrawal bleed during the placebo week. But why would she get those ovarian pains before th placebo week (few days before). I would think those pains would come during the placebo week because she is no longer getting the active ingredient and therefore her withdrawal bleed and those pains. But why would those pain come during the active week? In the past she always got the ovarian pains during the placebo week?
Avatar f tn I checked and the levoxly is not a generic and I do not take any other drugs (except Kariva at night). I would not know why my hair is falling out or what to ask the doctor to check. I am so worried that I will be the only bald one in my family.
Avatar n tn The placebo is actually to keep you on track with taking them and you can get pregnant even taking the birth control active pills it is not 100%. I got pregnant on BC being on it for 2 years and didn't miss a pill.
Avatar f tn OK...a little bit of background. 2 mos ago, I had a missed pill. Followed the in-pack instructions and took the missed pill the following morning and my pill that evening as usual. This has thrown my cycles off like crazy. My last "period" during placebo week was the pill pack prior to the missed pill. I am now having the typical placebo week bleeding between the 2nd and 3rd weeks of the active pills, with not even as much as spotting during the placebo week.
Avatar f tn I've been on yaz for about 5 months now and its fine anyway I skipped my placebo pills last week and started out with a new pack but I noticed very slight pinkish discharge only when i swipe yesterday. Is this normal or could it be implantation bleeding? Has anyone experienced this?
Avatar f tn I was just wondering since 30% of drugs are suppose to be placebo. If you ask you doctor if he/she is prescribing one, by law do they have to tell you the truth???? Just curious... Nauty............
Avatar f tn Is this even possible or is just a placebo effect? I had a ridiculously hard drug issue for 6 years and understand when I feel a bit high and I'm struggling to understand why I feel like this from a drug that should not take effect until 14-28 days.
Avatar f tn I've been taking sprintec birth control for about 2 years now. I usually skip the placebos to delay bleeding/period, so have withdrawal bleeding every three months or so. When breakthrough bleeding begins, I'll take placebo pills and stop taking the active pills (recommended by doctor) for the few bleeding days and then return to active pills when bleeding stops. However, I started withdrawal bleeding last Monday but kept taking active pills because I was distracted.
Avatar n tn So, most doctors do like us to have a period periodically. You need to built that into the plan. but in general, you can skip your placebo week if you so desire to not have any bleeding/spotting at all. When you decide to take the placebo week, I'd just do it like a regular pack. You finish a pack and it starts with placebo, so start the new pack with placebo (or where it falls into the packaging).
Avatar f tn Hi guys. I am a 16-year old student and one of my homeworks in science class is placebo effect. Can anyone tell me what it means please? I have been searching about it in the net and there are so many things that came out. I don’t know what it really means now. I would really appreciate your answers. Thank you so much.
1110049 tn?1409402144 I feel that we should take the placebO only if we do not know we are taking the placebo as we can trick ourselves into thinking that we are taking the actual antidepressant and therefore think we are getting better and so start to feel better because we are convinced the "antidepressant" is working. However, I feel we should not take the placebo if we know about it as we know it is not the real drug and therefore do not trick ourselves into thinking that we are getting any better.
190673 tn?1259203266 Ryan's post is correct, but yes, you could be entering withdrawal. Better to know beforehand what you might face, then you won't be in the position of those Ryan attributes to hysteria but can't be since most of them, like me, didn't know anything about withdrawal in the first place and therefore couldn't be suffering some hypothetical mass hysteria. On the other hand, it might not be withdrawal.
1253197 tn?1331209110 So although they suggest you do not try and predict if you are on the placebo or not...I feel reasonably confident that I was on the drug as I do not think "the placebo effect" could have caused the physical changes I experienced..but maybe I will be proved wrong.
Avatar f tn If you are on placebo, you stop placebo at week 12 and continue other meds until week 48, plus visits until week 72. If you are on placebo the first time you are on the study, you are guaranteed the real drug next time at no cost. Since it's a double blind study, no one knows what you are on until week 24. So far there have been excellent results, like cakes8267 said, read previous posts, this is very promising! Good luck.
Avatar f tn If you're pregnant, you are not going to have a period (even if it's during the placebo pills). If you are really worried about being pregnant, I suggest you take a pregnancy test before starting a new pack.
572651 tn?1530999357 More than once I have raised the idea that the placebo effect has been documented as very strong in people with MS. The strong prevalence of placebo effect is one of the reasons that the red flag gets raised on all these treatments, diets and even surgical procedures that have not been proven through rigid controlled studies but still have many people sure that it will be beneficial because of the anecdotal evidence.
