Avatar f tn I was orginally on Depo-Provera for 1 1/2 years (never had a period), switched to Seasonale (major nausea), then switched to Tri-Sprintec (my chest got huge on this pill), and then to Kariva (was great!). I was on Kariva for 10 months. I never took the placebo week, so I never had a 'period'. However, if and when I missed a pill or took it a little late, I always had spotting for a day or two.
Avatar f tn Hi- I am a 17 year old girl and I have been on birth control pills for a little over a year and a half now. I was originally prescribed Ortho-Tricyclen Lo but was switched to Kariva in May of this year because it was said to be the "less expensive generic brand" of Tricyclen Lo. I always felt a little more irritable and noticed my skin got a little more sensitive when I originally started taking the pill, but nothing too bad.
Avatar f tn Last Wednesday I got my period, and I began taking Kariva Birth Control. On friday, My boyfriend and I decided to have sex, which was dumb, but we used a condom with spermicide on it and in it. After a little bit, the condom popped and he pulled out immediately without ejaculating at all. Then we were finished. I know that people say that girls can get pregnant on their periods, however, i was only on the 3rd day of my cycle and i highly doubt that i could have ovulated so early...

Avatar f tn My period began on Sunday evening and I took my first oral contraceptive pill that evening (it was my first time taking a contraceptive pill). My period lasted two days, today is Tuesday and my period has stopped completely. Is it normal for the pill to interrupt my period? Or should I be concerned?
2144876 tn?1341432818 This combination results in increased metabolism of the estrogenic component of the oral contraceptive. The people taking this combination need to be informed that it can result in decrease in efficacy of the birth control pill. Such women need to use an additional contraceptive method as topiramate taken along with along with Loestrin, may reduce its effectiveness and result in unwanted pregnancy. I hope you find this information useful. Do keep us posted. Good luck!
Avatar m tn If you want to lower your level, one way to do that would be to prevent ovulation--the best way to do that is with oral contraceptive pills. I hope this helps!
Avatar n tn Hi... I am 21 years old. Last month I had oral sex with my boyfriend on the 17th of April.. I got really scared so I ended up taking an emergency contraceptive. I was supposed to get my periods on the 11th of may but still havent got them. I have taken several pregnancy tests but all have been negative. Yesterday I went to see a doctor who prescribed meprate tablet... Is this safe? Could I still be pregnant?
Avatar f tn If you were my patient, the best advice I could give you is to start an oral contraceptive to regulate your cycles and to prevent pregnancy while you are taking Curacne. The medication can produce severe birth defects and therefore it is imperative to prevent pregnancy while your a using the product. Oral contraceptive pils would also regulate your periods. Good luck!
Avatar n tn If i take Primolut Nor for about 5 or 6 days to delay my period and have protected sex during that time, and once i get my withdrawal bleed after stopping Primolut nor, can i start an oral contraceptive like Yasmine from day one of the withdrawal bleed? This will be my first time ever taking a monthly oral contraceptive.
Avatar f tn Which is used after intercourse? Or is it a normal oral contraceptive which is used for a period of a month? Regards, John.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you might benefit from a regular contraceptive method such as oral contraceptives or an IUD. Good luck!
Avatar n tn How old are you? And are you taking an oral contraceptive?
Avatar f tn s) are safe however should not be substituted with regular oral contraceptive pills cause they tend to fluctuate hormone levels to prevent pregnancy.. The symptoms you are facing are side effects of the pill itself but i don"t think they should last long neither should there be any future carrying on of the effects. It might be a temporary hormonal disturbance.. Try not to worry yourself..
Avatar f tn If you have normal acne, I would consider starting you on oral contraceptive pills or spironolactone + oral contraceptive pills. This combination is a good one for normal acne. It sounds as though you may have a condition called hidradentis however, and that will not respond to these medications. Probably the best thing to do is to have both your gynecologist and your dermatologist consult with each other to help you. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Breakthrough bleeding is most common when a woman first begins taking oral contraceptives, or changes from one particular oral contraceptive to another. Headaches, weight gain and dizziness are other related side effects. Usually these symptoms cease after two or three cycles, but if they persist then you have to shift the birth control pills to some other brand or use a different method of contraception like condoms.
Avatar f tn I m a 16 year old girl.I had unprotected oral sex and mutual masturbation with 2 guys on 5th November.I had my periods from 6th to 10th November. Then I had unprotected sex on 11th November with another guy.I took an emergency contraceptive pill immediately.I experienced light vaginal bleeding after 5 days. Then I had unprotected sex on 21st November with yet another guy.Immediately I administered an emergency contraceptive pill.Again I experienced light vaginal bleeding after 5 days.
Avatar m tn Also kindly suggest me any other contraceptive pills which are 100% effective. We dont want to use condoms. After marriage, we consult a doctor and take details about regular contraceptive methods. Thanks for all in advance.
Avatar f tn All of the symptoms that you mentioned can be caused by the ring. Unfortunately, they can also be caused by oral contraceptive pills. The pills can also have the side effect of nausea and potentially constipation (the "fe" stands for iron in Loestrin fe). With any hormonal contraceptive, you are going to have some side effects, so the way to go about choosing which to use, is to choose the one the is the best trade off for you (eg. the side effects for the contraceptive benefit).
Avatar f tn Hi. A lot of women use it and have 'some' side effects similar to those of ANY oral contraceptive. The issue with the injectable is that if you have a side effect --- it will last until the shot wears off rather than if you take the pill--- and it is gone as the pill washes out of your system, so much faster. Literature does not show infertility following injected contraceptives but it does take a couple of months for your period to become regular again, which helps with conceiving.
