Avatar n tn Hi all, It seems that I'm not the norm when it comes to diabetes as I have problems gaining weight. I'm a 37 y/o male and weigh 145lbs. Besides working out, do you have any Idea how I can gain weight? All the foods that most people use to bulk up are what I'm supposed to avoid. Thanks in advance!
Avatar n tn hi i am presently living in the Philippines and i have run out of my janumet 50mg/500mg tablets and they are not available here in Philippines the only diabetic tablets available where i live are Metformin 500 tablets, can i substitute these for the janumet ?
Avatar f tn Well, victoza will start off making you have nausea, vomiting sometime. You will get past this, it can take up to three months. After that I just kind of never felt right but thought I was just going to have to deal with this the rest of my life! Than about at 10 to 12 months I started to have severe stomach pain which I thought was my gall bladder. I was probably having pancreatic attacks, but never went to the hospital to have blood work; very stupid idea by the way.
Avatar n tn He didn't try weight loss just happened weight loss fast two years ago . He feels that weight loss is more slow. He never eat diet food. That s strange . I can't understand why dr didn't pay attention his weight and thought that weight loss is very good for him but it s something wrong with him. I read and research rapid weight loss from diabetic . Avatar n tn My husband was recently diagnosed with type II diabetes. His doctor has prescibed janumet. In reading about the drug I've found info stating that "one should not consume excessive alcohol" and also "one should avoid alcohol". My husband drinks at least one glass of wine/beer a day with more on weekends. I'm confused as to what excesive means or if he is suppose to avoid alcohol totally. Any information would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn I went on metformin 1g, no change after three months. went up to two grams and was so nauseus for weeks, changed to janumet 1g. My sugars are still up around 15 every day, and my hand still hasnt stopped twitching. I get it all over my body randomly, but always in my hand. It doesn't hurt but is irritating and my hand is sore from overworking. My dr said this was a diabetes issue but I have never heard of it before among other sufferers, and he just brushes it away when I mention it.
Avatar n tn This is done by controlling your glucose levels with proper nutrition, moderate exercise, and weight control. Read my posts in the threads from Darkestlight and Gus on this forum.
1192309 tn?1264801232 I understand your weight loss might be from other illness but if you are average weight (and losing), if you were very sick at diagnosis and especially if you have another autoimmune disease such as thyroid, you might want to get your antibodies checked to make sure you are in fact type 2. Many of us were misdiagnosed type 2 purely by age and are in fact LADA/Type 1.5 which is a form of Type 1 with a slower onset. Worth getting tested for so you know how to treat correctly.
Avatar n tn Hi There, I'm a recently turned 40year old male, living in Malaysia. I have a history of neck issues (cervical spondylitis)? Sometime later Sept - Oct 09, stiffness of the neck and head getting heavy had me run to my GP for advise. He checked my blood sugar and it was 22 Mmol. I also have had elevated blood sugar problems when I had a boil somewhere on the body or the neck getting stiff, after a while it went away.
541196 tn?1293552936 My endocrinolgist ordered a MRI with Contrast on my brain for the possiblity of a prolactin secreeting pituitary tumor or something similar. I am type II diabetic and take Janumet. I think I remember reading in the side effects, warnings and uses pamphlet that there were some tests, proceedures and surgeries which you shouldn't have while on the medication. How long should I be off the medication before and after the MRI? Are there any other things I should consider before the test?
Avatar n tn I take my bolld sugars of a morning fasting and they are like 167-191, I take 1000 mg of janumet and 18 units of lantus before bed, of a morning I take 20 Units of lantus, 45 mg actos why am I having problems regulating my blood sugars, I also take 7 units of novalog after every meal??? Do you have any other sugustions??
1441125 tn?1284071885 What is important, though, is to make sure in addition to taking the Metformin, you lower your carb intake, lose weight if needed, and get regular exercise. Those things will help your blood sugar a lot more than cinnamon!
Avatar n tn Plus you could discuss changing meds. BTW There is a combination pill Janumet that c ombines Metformin and Januvia. This may be helpful to you as well.
Avatar f tn I thought I had to vomit, but when I intentionally tried to vomit, nothing happened. I have type 2 diabetes and currently take Janumet twice a day. Could this have been low blood sugar, or high blood sugar?
Avatar f tn he is on an oral medication for the type 2 the med is Janumet. His blood sugar is controlled and his doctor said hes doing good on it my question is could this problem lessen his chances for svr? any info is appreciated. Wishing you all on treatment SVR!!!
194838 tn?1303428544 I have had stomach pains and upset stomach since being on them, the plus side is that I have lost weight so am very happy about that but wondered if anyone else has experienced the stomach pain and if so how long did it take for it to subside. If anyone has any advice etc I would be so grateful.
Avatar m tn fast weight loss is most of the time lost water and muscles. Fat takes ages to go away. Third: Think of a diet as something permanent. Crash diets just help you gain weight faster once they are over. So, pick some simple rules of a balanced and healthy diet, and follow them. Don't sweat it if you crave for something "bad", to a balanced diet belongs the bad side, too. If you give in now to a small piece of chocolate, it is much better than to eat two whole packages later.
Avatar f tn Yes please talk to your dr, there are many things that could cause rapid or excessive weight loss and some of them can be serious. In addition to Thyroid and GI testing maybe ask about diabetes. It seems odd, but it can cause weight loss.
Avatar f tn I promise you your completely fine. I'm 19 weeks haven't gained any weight. Lost weight and the baby is perfect. It didn't matter how tall or how much you weight as long as baby measures up during ultrasound it's perfectly fine.
