Avatar f tn Okay where do I start...i have had tinea versicolor for over 3 years now, it covers 100% of my chest and patches travel all down my abdomen into my groin, also down my arms and on my kneck and under my armpits. I feel like a giant walking yeast infection, and nothing I have used has even remotley weakened it at all, it seems to be immune to everything I have tried.
Avatar n tn Hello, This rash looks like tinea versicolor. Tinea versicolor is caused by a fungus that lives in the skin of almost all adults. Factors that can cause the fungus to become more visible include high humidity and immune or hormone abnormalities. Treatment involves topical and oral antifungal medicines. Please get the diagnosis confirmed from a dermatologist.
Avatar f tn I’m a 20 year old female, and I have been dealing with tinea versicolor for going on 7 months. I’ve tried the shampoos and my doctor has prescribed me multiple rounds of fluconazole (spaced out between rounds) the rash went away after awhile, but I was not using the shampoo (I was using a natural soap on Amazon for tinea versicolor). Sadly, the rash came back after a month or so. I never stopped using that exact same soap, and I would shower normally 2-3 times a day (because I work out).
Avatar n tn The symptoms are suggestive of pityriasis versicolor. Pityriasis versicolor (Tinea veriscolor) is a fungal infection caused by commensal yeasts in hot and humid conditions. They may be reddish brown, slightly scaly patches or ugly, depigmented areas that will not tan, especially in suntanned skin. Selenium sulphide lotion can be applied for around 10-15 minutes, rinsed off and re-applied daily for about a week.
Avatar m tn I found out a rash on parts of my chest and abdomen is tinea versicolor (spelling?). The dermatologist prescribed Ketoconazole cream. Anyone know if that is safe to use with Lyme Disease.? I looked online but found only mentions of the pill.
Avatar f tn What is the connection between itraconazole and hemmorhagic stroke in an otherwise healthy male with no pre-existing conditions to cause a stroke?
Avatar f tn Thats correct and you are eating the wrong way
Avatar f tn Then i tried itraconazole 200mg a day for a month as suggested by another friend. It cured my itch but again came back after 10 days . Then a dermatologist suggested me terbinafine and fluconazole, but it dint give much result. I tried ketoconazole soap and oitment also and it got worse. Then again I tried itraconazole 100mg twice for a month, i was cured within 10 days. But again this recurrent jock itch keeps on coming back.
Avatar n tn However, if the patient remains symptomatic after 4 weeks, therapy with itraconazole, 200 mg daily for 6 to 12 weeks, can be given. Patients who have severe outbreak-associated histoplasmosis and all immunosuppressed patients should be treated. Initial therapy with amphotericin B, 0.7 to 1 mg/kg daily, can be followed by oral itraconazole after a favorable response is noted. Antifungal therapy should be given to all patients with chronic pulmonary histoplasmosis.
Avatar f tn I am on week four, this diet is making me miserable, and I am now taking Itraconazole. I only wanted to breathe, and I only used the inhaler 6 times total. This seems ridiculous to still have this infection, and I only want to know how to be rid of it. Can anyone please advise?
Avatar n tn if a patient is allergic to itraconazole, is i safe for her to take voriconazole?
Avatar m tn The effect had begun at day 13-14 and until 6 weeks after the end of the treatement. After, they gave me itraconazole 200 (Sporanox) during 1 week and it worked very well. So my dermatologist conclued it was atypic pityriasis versicolor. Unfortunately, now he is retired. And I am in trouble because others dermatologists say it is eczema (clinical). They dont't understand why Triflucan works with me. They never treated me until the rash completely disappear.
Avatar m tn Does antifungals agents (like flukonazole, itraconazole etc.) taken in pills works in the digestive tract? Can these drugs destroy adrenal?
Avatar m tn I saw a dermatologist last week who gave me 200mg Itraconazole and lotriderm cream (clotrimazole), he told me everything would be cleared up in one week but after 5 days I haven't seen any real improvement. Is this definitely fungal? If so, why hasn't it responded to treatment? I've used daktarin powder and cream in the past and still my inner thighs felt rough. This is really affecting my quality of life and getting me down.
Avatar m tn I am a 24 year old male, generally healthy. About 6 months ago I noticed that 1 of my fingernails started to yellow in the corners at the distal part of my nail, at the site of yellowing the nail also got hardened. With time, the same happened in some of my other fingernails ( but stayed well demarcated at the corners. Also, both my toenails show a slow regression in the line where the nail is attached to the nail bed.
Avatar m tn I have had tinea for at least 5 weeks. Tried Athlete's Foot cream / medicine (capsules I cannot remember name of - but 1 per day for 14 days), using Diprosone ointment for +2 weeks, Selenium Sulphide shampoo for 2 weeks (covered affected areas, allowed to dry for 1 hr and then showered off before putting on the Diprosone ointment). It is still there - mainly two areas on my chest on which I am now using Betadine. Is this time span normal.
Avatar f tn My article Tinea Versicolor reviews the treatments that work well for this condition. And no, tinea versicolor therapy does not cause fading of the tattoo.
