When it affects the scalp, it is called tinea capitis. It is all the same. Only, the ringworm that infects the scalp lives inside the hair shafts and can't be treated topically. For the feet and pubic region, the best product is topical Lamisil.
Avatar n tn She prescribed an ointment and a powder for yeast. Have been using this for two weeks with no sign of improvement. She recommended a dermatologist and I have an apt. Jul 13th. I'm not sure I can stand this for a month! I plan to call as many dermatologists in the morning as I can to try to obtain an apt. sooner. Any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks in advance!

Avatar n tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be due to tinea cruris which is a fungal infection of the groins. Keep the area dry and after washing also dry thoroughly by pat drying, not rubbing. A hairdryer is useful if you have hairy groins. The damp groin is an ideal site for fungi to multiply. Also wear cotton underwear and change them twice a day and do not share other people’s towels.
Avatar m tn It is less messy and preferably easy to use than the Selsun and Ketoconazole shampoos which needs to applied on the patches of affected skin after an evening bath, left to dry the whole night and washed off the next morning. For widespread or stubborn infections, itraconazole tablets have shown good results in curative aspects. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn I've had Tinea Vesicolor for about 7 years now. I'm 22 years old now, male and weigh 193 lbs. When I first discovered the rash, my mom took me to the hospital and the doctor gave me a prescription for Ketokonazole SHampoo 2%. After a few days this cleared up the rash which was located on my chest and left upper arm.

Avatar m tn ve went to the doctor twice and was diagnosed with tinea cruris and psoriasis. Neither ointments provided for those conditions have helped. I have an appointment with another dermatologist next week, but I wanted to reach out here and see if anybody has experienced something similar. My rash does not itch. I am just curious as to what it can be, thanks.
Avatar f tn A couple days later my scrodum became very red and inflamed. I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with “Tinea cruris “ Recently I’ve felt a tingling/mild burning feeling followed by a couple red small pimple like bumps that have popped up around my frenulum/underneath urethra and penis hole. I’m not sure if they’ve already been there or not. It’s not painful just uncomfortable. And it doesn’t always tingle or burn unless it rubs against my underwear or I mess with it.

Avatar f tn Okay where do I start...i have had tinea versicolor for over 3 years now, it covers 100% of my chest and patches travel all down my abdomen into my groin, also down my arms and on my kneck and under my armpits. I feel like a giant walking yeast infection, and nothing I have used has even remotley weakened it at all, it seems to be immune to everything I have tried.
Avatar f tn You must get an allergy test done, either a skin test or RAST, to know what you are allergic to. Fungal infections like tinea corporis and tinea cruris too cause whole body itching along with genital itching. Liver problems too can cause generalized itching. Worms are another cause of both anal and body itch. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
