Common Questions and Answers about Itchy skin yeast infections

Avatar f tn In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph) but it can be infected with yeast infections and fungi also. Pityrosporum ovale is the most common yeast to cause folliculitis. It is an itchy acne-like infection that is referred to as pityrosporum folliculitus. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
139064 tn?1262096233 For the past 8 years, at the beginning of menopause, I have been PLAGUED by yeast infections and vaginal wall thinness. (Before menopause I never had yeast infections.) My vaginal wall is so thin that sex is now impossible. Even Pap smears are a big deal. About 3 years ago, I began losing my hair and now am bald. At the same time, I got uveitis in one eye making my vision 20/400 in that eye. A year later, I got uveitis in the other eye.
Avatar f tn A yeast infection does not have blisters. I'm sorry to say it sounds like an std, possibly genital warts, they show up pretty quick. Go in as soon as possible cause you won't know without a diagnosis. Most stds they can treat quickly. I unknowingly had chlamydia til I found out I was pregnant and that I had it. Only took a week to cure. If it is an std and you don't get it cured it will most likely pass on to your baby. Get it taken care of ASAP! Good luck.
Avatar n tn Yeast infections are usually caused by diet, sweat, or sexual intercourse. Wear loose clothing, and make sure that area is dry. You can put baby powder or gold bond in your undies or directly on the infected area. I wouldn't recommend silk underwear, it's known to rub badly against the skin. Stick with cotton. You can take a vinegar bath to help kill the yeast. Dillute the vinager with a little bit of water, and sit in it for twenty minutes. Vinegar is known to kill yeast.
Avatar f tn Hey guys, for th past 5 or so days I have had itching down the side of my penis, and what seems to look like tissue paper around the base of the penile head and under the skin, I'm quite certain this isn't a STD, but would like to know some sort of feedback before I see a GP.
Avatar n tn I was researching it and came across information regarding skin yeast infections. I am a chronic sufferer of vaginal yeast infections, could this be related?
Avatar f tn Yes yeast infections can cause cuts as I have chronic yeast infections for over 20 yrs. Cutting out gluten and Dairy helped with that for the most part. It is possible that it could be bacterial vaginosis did she do a swab for that again to see if it went away or not? If it is BV then you would need another antibiotic. So to me it sounds like the skin is sensitive right now and because it is itchy its causing the cuts. Do you have over the counter dufflican?
1151771 tn?1262028720 My daughter is going to be 2 in March and she has been suffering from yeast infections that never go away for almost her entire life. Started out when she was a baby as thrush that lasted almost a month and a half then everything went away for a few months then thrush came back and didn't go away for another couple months. Then we really didn't see anything again for about 6 months when it started in her private area.
Avatar n tn YES, yeast infections can indeed cause you to have little tears in the skin and labia area. The tears may start to itch before they 'develop' and then you have what looks to be a little fleshy cut. There is such a thing as chronic yeast infection on the external areas- ie: the labia/vulva area. I'm just learning about it myself.
Avatar n tn I've had yeast infections before, and this has some of the symptoms, but the dry skin throws me. I'm probably not making it any better by stressing non stop about it, but I can't help it.
Avatar f tn She was producing too much yeast and was overgrown with yeast on her skin (itchy flaky areas) it was getting infected and vets were treating it with antibiotics which cause a yeast infection and round and round we go. So I searched about it and stopped all foods that have wheat, starch, sugars, carrots, oatmeal, potatoes. Basically I cook her foods and she mostly sets ground turkey with kale and cauliflower. I bath her with sulphate soap and a vinegar rinse( 1 cup: 1 gallon water.
Avatar f tn Now, in the beggining of Sept, i noticed that i started to itch again, and this time, i would get weird plaques of skin and my skin was really dry and flakey. This went on, until a couple days ago, when I started my period again. Well, now i shaved again, and i have HORRIBLE itchy red bumps. they itch so bad, it disrupts my daily life. ALSO, i have little white looking zits too, scattered. they are around the red bumpy areas, but they are NOT in or on a hair follicle.
Avatar n tn I have brown to skin coloured wart looking skin growths, that variey from half a centre metre to smaller than a grain of sand on one side of my outer labia. Some are attached to each other and some are on their own, they are not ichy but i do get a fairly smelly vagina. I have never been involved in any sexual activity so i am unsure what this is, how i got it and how to treat it. Can anyone help?
Avatar f tn I know what a yeast infection is supposed to feel like but what does it look like? I'm thinking I probably have one, the itchy/dry/soreness has gotten worse within the past 2 days and sometimes it hurts to walk. When I try to look at it in tve mirror, I can see that there's white stuff (not discharge; it's on the skin); a few days ago it was just two areas on the insides of the labia manora, but now I can also see it farther in, near/on the vagina. Is this normal for a yeast infection?
Avatar f tn Before I became prego at age 22 I had only had maybe one ot two yeast infections which all cleared up with basic store medicine. While being prego with my son I had a yeast infection(YI) every month and he is a year old no and I am now plagued with chronic yeast infections.
Avatar m tn I looked up symptons for yeast infections and I have no burning, the white discharge is scarce I don't know whats going on. I've never had any std's, yeast infections or anything. I don't take any medicines, have no conditions or diseases. This is the first time something has ever been wrong with me besides getting a cold in the winter. Please helpp!
Avatar n tn is an alternative medicine concept that has nothing to do with what medical doctors mean by yeast infections that affect the skin, for instance. My own feeling is that some or all of your symptoms reflect anxiety that you have something wrong inside you. My advice therefore is to chill. And the next time you get a skin change, check to make sure that it really is yeast and not something completely unrelated. I have never seen a male with repeated skin yeast infections.est. Dr.
Avatar n tn From time to time it burns when I go to the bathroom, but that comes and goes. So for those of you who know or have had yeast infections, does this sound like one? If it is one, can I just go to a drug store and buy an OTC medication or should I see my doctor for medication? Also, can I use a medication while on my period? Lastly, should I just wait until my cycle is over before starting medication? If it sounds like something different please tell me.
Avatar n tn From what I understand its common to have itchy skin with yeast/fungal infections? If that's the case then I'm not sure if I have one as there's almost no itching at all. I cant see too much redness as well. I did have something like that around 2-3 years ago and didn't take any medication tho. It did clear out by its self but now I'm not sure if the itching stopped and the problem persists or no..
Avatar f tn My vagina has been very itchy for at least a week. At first I assumed it was a yeast infection but now I'm getting concerned. Previous yeast infections I've had went away when I started my period, but not this time. It has developed red itchy bumps that seem to be spreading. Also, I noticed my skin is peeling. Could this be an STD?
Avatar n tn I'm not a doctor, so I really can say what it is. The crater looking things might be scars, but fungal / yeast infections don't always form large red patches. It is best that you get checked out by your doctor. But there would be no harm if you tried a jock itch cream or something used for dermatitis - like a cream used for eczema.
Avatar f tn Hello, There are many causes of anal itching like yeast infections, hamorrhoids, pinworms, anal fissures, skin tags, psoriasis etc. It is important to clean and dry the anus thoroughly and avoid leaving soap in the anal area. A complete history and clinical examination is essential for correct diagnosis and management. See a doctor. Treatment will depend on the cause. Best luck and regards!

Avatar f tn So it turns out that my Yeast results are -ve and no signs of BV either. What is it then? Its very itchy and as I mentioned before, its aggravated by foods that have sugar. How could it be nothing but just in my head? Please help me. I have been denied an appointment with a new doc here because the senior Doc over ride it saying its in my head and its not. Its not legal for them to deny me health care rights.
Avatar m tn Yeast infections do appear in men too because we all have yeast in our bodies When your skin is irritated on the outside and you use topical ointments for relief, then it comes back, it is your body trying to tell you that it's imbalanced. There is relief for you. Go to the health food store and buy these things; Pure Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Oatmeal lotion, and "refrigerated" Acidophilus. I will explain why. The Coconut Oil will help fight the infiction on the outside.
Avatar n tn including bacteria, protozoans, and yeast. Vaginal yeast infection, which is the most common form of vaginitis, is often referred to as vaginal Candidiasis.
