Avatar f tn Nobody had anything good to say about Slim-Fast. In the early 90's I went on my first diet. I don't like excersize so my diet was to cut down on my food and cut out the fries, other fried food, chocolate, ice cream, etc. I was between marriages at the time and had a contest instigated by my girl friend - no sex till we lost 7lbs. I was pretty motivated and lost my 7 pretty quickly, however I don't think she ever did.

Any meal replacement diet is never going to give you all the nutrients your body needs (despite how much and many nutrients the shake might be 'fortified' with). Although you've probably heard it a million times before, there is no quick miracle fix, you've got to eat less, eat healthier and exercise more.
Avatar f tn Is it ok to drink slim fast while pregnant? I have gained too much weight so far. I started out tiny and now my mid section is huge! I'm not looking to lose weight but eating hurts. My lower back is in excruciating pain and I know it's from the weight gain and due to my belly sticking so far out. I'm only 25 weeks pregnant and I feel the only option is to eat tiny meals to keep up my energy because after I eat my stomach feels so tight b it just hurts.

There are a few recipes on his website. Right now I am using the Ultimate Breakfast Smoothie. It tastes awesome and it actually keeps me full for over 6 hours. I have zero cravings for food and sweets. I've cut back my dinner portion.

Since cholesterol is a computation from all my numbers, can you explain why the cholesterol is high yet everything else is reasonably low? What am I missing? I am misunderstanding one of the numbers to be good while it is not? I'm slim, work out, eat healthy meals, am vegetarian.

In addition, walking would be where you could begin but you should certainly watch out for any tightness in your chest, throat or asthma-like symptoms. Swimming is also a possibility, if approved by your doctor, and you should do so with someone else in attendance should you have any difficulty.

I agree with kimmit that you need a variety of foods - there's a reason for the food pyramids, etc. We really do need all of that stuff. Protein is important to a healthy diet, but you must have the proper vitamins/enzymes to break it down. Fad diets are rarely good for you, and once you go off them, the chance of regaining the weight is so great; many people end up gaining even more.

Personally, I couldn't go without some carbohydrates in my diet. Maybe you are stronger than me though. I have seen it work but usually the person breaks and goes back to carbohydrates and gains all the weight back. Some carbohydrates can be good for you.

Avatar f tn I kept at it but nothing was happening. You need to eat more then once a day. I start the day with a slim fast. Small lunch and good dinner before 10. You just need to come up with a schedule and keep eating at the same time during the day. I hope that helps a little.
