Is skelaxin like vicodin

Common Questions and Answers about Is skelaxin like vicodin

skelaxin

Avatar f tn The only side effect with Skelexin, as with any other muscle relaxant, is that it can cause drowsiness. Luckily, Skelaxin is one of the LEAST sedating of the muscle relaxants.
Avatar m tn I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin. My lower back tightens up and I just need some relief. I have been taking it a bit more often than I did say 6 months ago.
Avatar f tn Different drugs entirely. Vicodin is Lortab is Norco is Hydrocodone is. Codeine is entirely different. The reason you can switch between those and for that matter, any opiate, is because they are cross-tolerant. They are substitutable, but the dosages wouldn't be the same for the same effect. A look at an opiate milliequivalency scale would be needed or people experiment.
Avatar m tn Skelaxin 3600 mg daily Gabapentin 1800 mg daily Vicodin (as needed) Maxsalt (as needed) The pain in my neck is constant/achy and worsens with left to right movement, and up and down movement. My headaches are daily and are manageable for about 90% of the time, the other 10% is debilitating and takes me out of work. Any help or recommendations are appreciated.
684012 tn?1227990456 I have been seeing this neruro dr for about 5 months now she did diagnoise me with fibromyalgia, cfs, & neuropathy. We are trying to find ways to control the pain. When I take the Ultram, it makes my face break out with little bumps on my checks. Has this happenned to anyone else? My current meds are really not working, I have to go between Ultram & Vicodin, and Skelaxin for a muscle relaxer. I use Lyrica but is causes my ankles and hands to swell.
Avatar m tn Skelaxin I got prescribed when I got in a car accident for a muscle relaxer, It didnt really do much of anything but make me feel like gumby, drunk and out of it. Its not for chronic or severe pain BUT it is for MUSCLE pain, like muscle spasms. From being a former EMT (Paramedic) I know it works in the brain to help with the relaxation of muscle pain, its also used for physical therapy with people with back problems.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure if its normal for everybody, but I did have a lot of pain and tightness through my neck and shoulders while I was detoxing. The skelaxin is a very mild muscle relaxer and non-narcotic (I'm pretty sure), so shouldn't be a problem. May even help. Having DDD in the neck is going to leave you with some pain that may be exagerated in the first few weeks. give it just a little time to level out before you try to judge what your "normal" pain will be.
Avatar f tn t take during the day,as I have small kids and it made me VERY sleepy!) Then I was put on Skelaxin and I feel like that does nothing( 800mg. 3x day) I could take 2 at one time and still...nothing? I think I'm going to ask to go back on Flexeril(for bed time) to reduce my pain and spasms) Thanks!
Avatar m tn t taken a soma like I said I got skelaxin which I take rarely only if my back is howling in pain cuz it knocks me out into last Tuesday. I Ben doing tons of stretching and I tolerate a little discomfort. I'd rather have a little discomfort than deal with a soma habit. Not saying if u take soma your a junkie or anything lol I just know myself well enough not to touch it. Prayers for everyone,.
Avatar m tn The muscle relaxer the dr gave me is Skelaxin. Anybody else ever try this. I read on drug ******* the reviews and some people said it really helped without making them dizzy like most of them do. Man I sure hope it helps so I can keep weening off the hydros.
450140 tn?1317947304 This limboland is really taking its toll on me and my family. Have not worked since Jan. that is putting a strain on us finacially. Not to mention, all the worry about my health. My husband, and my girls are almost as fustrated as I am. Like I tell my hubby when he starts ranting,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I KNOW .......I'M LIVING IT!! I have an appt. with a Neuro Physic. next month. My neuro insisted I see them, because he does not want me getting more depressed because of being in constant pain.
Avatar n tn Hello Shirio and welcome to the Pain Forum: First let me tell you that I'm sorry for the discomfort. The meds you have are not meds that can help you type of pain. You need a stronger Muscle Relaxer like Flexeril or Soma. These will work much better than Skelaxin which in my opinion is the "Baby" of the Muscle relaxer meds. It is wise to stay on an anit-inflammatory like Motrin but you might want to try 800mg Ibuphropen (sp) Also.
Avatar f tn anything we use each night for sleep can back fire on use/even benadryl/ as ur body will feel it needs it for sleep...soma is addictive so it is good u r quitting...melatonin works for many...valerian root works best for me...everyone is different...there are lots of sleep meds/supps on the market so i doubt u r alone in the sleep issue thing....amitryptilline in small doses helps me sleep if i just take it here and there...not habit forming but if u take it every night u get kinda used to it...
1182133 tn?1266851531 My feet keep wanting to be moving because they feel asleep. My back is BURNING... my stomach is BURNING and bubbling like a volcano! This is the tri-fecta (sp?). I am ready to go out my damn mind!!!!!! Ugh! Now I think I need to stop the vicodin. Yest I went over 13 hrs no vicodin. Then tried to sleep and the RLS kicked in, so I took a vicodin and thought that'd help. The RLS went away but still didn't sleep.... Somebody rescue me from this HELL!!!!
402205 tn?1230481005 I will try to avoid them right now tho because they make me sluggish and I am already fatigued with my cut in dose of hydrocodne..anything can be abused...skelaxin is a fairly safe muscle relaxer.....
Avatar n tn I took Soma which is like Skelaxin to help the first two days with that. I know you said the Skelaxin did not help you much with that. Maybe you could try taking some Tylenol PM at night to help you sleep?? If you do decide to do this, don't take the Tylenol PM with any other sedatives you might have such as the muscle relaxer. This can depress your respiratory system too much and that would not be good. Sorry, I know I am rambling on!!! The nurse part of me is coming out!!!
Avatar m tn Felt bump and determined was musculoskeletal. Prescribed anti-inflammatory (Naproxen) and muscle relaxer (Skelaxin). Told me to take as needed (didn’t have to take the full bottle). Took prescriptions for 4 days, Skelaxin caused stomach cramping even when taken as directed. Urine test came back cloudy with high white blood cell count. Concluded was very dehydrated and sent off for tests to determine if infection was present. Also had me go in for blood tests.
747493 tn?1249589956 It sounds like you are having a severe flareup. Your lack of restorative sleep is not helping your body at all. If over the counter meds. aren't helping, you should contact your physician so that he/she can prescribe something that will help you rest. We all realize how important the role of good sleep is to these illnesses....without it we hurt so much worse. Maybe your doc.
Avatar m tn Over the past 7-8 days I have lost almost all taste and my mouth is super dry (wierd to explain), I have a tingling feeling in my bottom lip and there feels like pressure (almost like someone is squeezing) my arms off and on-- could have nothing to do with any of this. My question after is.. any idea what I can do next for the headache and what the heck is causing the loss of taste. I was wondering if one of the meds I was on could cause it? I have been off Prednisone for 7 days.
Avatar f tn But absolutely wonderful mentally. Finally feel like me.. just sick me! Day 5 free from all.
