Is flaxseed meal the same as ground flaxseed

Common Questions and Answers about Is flaxseed meal the same as ground flaxseed

flax-seed

Avatar f tn Is the "flaxseed meal" you speak of come already ground up? I have read that flaxseed does no good unless it's ground up.
Avatar f tn From what I understand, the levels of the various fractions of both the bad and the good cholesterol a person has makes a difference in how concerned one should be about the numbers.
Avatar f tn I do alright using flaxseed meal rather than the psyllium based fibers that you mentioned. I can use just a little in water, like the fiber drinks, or just sprinkle a little on my food. It's an actual food product and it has nutritional benefits, like omega 3. I buy the Bob's Red Mill that is available at Trader Joe's, because it's more affordable. It's already ground flaxseed meal. I haven't heard of the Heather's Tummy Fibers, so I'll have to look for that.
Avatar f tn The healthful components of the flaxseeds become available to us once the seeds are cracked or ground, but the process also increases the susceptibility to oxidation. This is why ground flaxseed should be stored in airtight containers and kept in the refrigerator once opened. One other aspect that relates to toxicity is the fact that flaxseed contains cyanogenic (cyanide producing) compounds.
Avatar f tn s products, which exceeds $300 per pound, is so high as compared to other sources of the same nutrients that it is apparent that these products are not intended to be used as a food. At the 1986 trial, the defendants argued that because other algal products are sold as foods or food supplements, they too should be allowed to sell blue-green algae as food-changing the packaging, trade name, and distribution system if necessary.
Avatar n tn As I mentioned in response to your other question. . . . . flaxseed is recommended for eye problems and specifically for dry eye. I buy the liquid gels and also grind whole flaxseed and mix it into a healthy smoothie drink. (Obviously, the flaxseed is to be taken orally--never directly to the eye!
Avatar f tn Just to note, smoothies aren't a supplement, it's just another way to eat. And probably not the best way to eat. bodybuilders do this sort of thing, but then, they do a whole lot of things. I would say your workout probably isn't the right one for you and your diet is probably not the right one for you, which is why you're not seeing results.
Avatar n tn for about 10 days I have been light headed from 10:30-1:30 everyday. I eat the same breakfast, lunch and dinner, nothing in that area has changed, but the lightheadness seem to be lasting longer by 10 mintues. First it ws for 45 min, now its seem to be getting longer.
Avatar f tn With flaxseed meal, you can even add just a small portion of the amount you will be using for the whole day with each meal, so that you're also not eating it all at once, which might be helpful when you have such a sensitive system. Don't forget that you must drink plenty of water with any kind of fiber and with gastro problems, for that matter.
Avatar f tn I can relate to some of this, because I have the same kind of IBS that you do. I don't know if I have FMS (I have the symptoms to indicate the strong possibility), but I do have CFS and MCS, so I can relate. We have a special problem, since we have many food sensitivities and allergies. I am sure you are already aware of the gluten intolerance and lactose intolerance issues, since they go with the territory. I was hospitalized with renal failure not too long ago myself.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if drizzling flaxseed oil onto salad, orange juice and other foods is OK for people with MS? I heard that flaxseed oil is supposed to help patients with MS a lot. It contains Omega 3 fatty acids.
Avatar f tn also make sure you demand feed, that means every time bub is hungry so not to a schedule, sometimes its as often as every 1 1/2 hrs to start with, the more bub feeds the more milk your body produces, and also keep your water intake up, everytime you put bub to breast you should drink at least one full glass of water, also fennel tea.....
Avatar m tn This description, however, is an oversimplification. The immune system is extraordinarily complicated and, as yet, incompletely understood. At the current level of scientific understanding it is not possible to characterize the effects of beta-glucan more specifically than to say that it has "immunomodulatory" actions, or that it is a "biological response modifier.
408496 tn?1269603350 I will be 25 weeks pregnant tomorrow and lately I have had horrible leg pain at night and when I am in the car going somewhere. It is like the pain radiates from the bone and just throbs. I have had to use a heating pad on my leg at night sometimes b/c the pain isn't unbearable, but it is causing me to not get sleep and I am afraid that I am keeping DH up. I have heard that RLS is common in pregnancy and that if you have it pregnancy , that you are more than likely to have it as you age.
974298 tn?1324833193 I am taking both EPO and Flaxseed Oil at the same time, is it harmful to take both at the same time? I am trying to work on my fertile CM but it doesn't seem to be working at all. I first started taking EPO alone in June and it worked but it hasn't worked again since then. Would appreciate ur response.
Avatar f tn Ooh..you are answering all of my questions today! Thanks! I think I'm going to do the baby aspirin and probably continue to do the flaxseed but maybe just less of it. My DH and I don't get to eat a lot of fish so I know my diet could use the fatty acids. I had a major surgery this past January and I was told to stop taking fish oil before the surgery because it is a blood thinner. So that's why I was wondering if the flaxseed is a thinner as well!
689528 tn?1364135841 Ugh, okay, so I continued my search (sorry for all the posts- I hope they are helpful!). And according to the Mayo Clinic: "The use of flaxseed or flaxseed oil during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended. Animal studies show possible harmful effects, and there is little information in humans. Flaxseed may stimulate menstruation or have other hormonal effects and could be harmful to pregnancy.
Avatar m tn I think taking the fiber supplement is correct, because this sounds like the colon spasming. There is a gentler fiber that I have found to be less irritating to the gut. This is flaxseed meal. I read of a woman who said that she used it much like one uses Metamucil and drinks it down first thing in the morning and last thing at night and has done so for years. Taking psyllium fiber (the main ingredient in Metamucil) wasn't helpful for her bowel troubles, but the flaxseed meal was.
Avatar m tn Okay, I can't comment on the prostatitis very well, since I'm female. But, I can certainly appreciate the IBS problems you're talking about. The colonoscopy is the best test I know about for testing for cancerous polyps, so I'm sure you're on the right track with the test. You're probably going to be very hungry when you're finished with the test(s).
Avatar f tn I hope it's normal bcuz Im in the same boat, but only 24weeks. I feel like I eat a meal & soon as I take my last bite Im looking for my next meal. I hve a crazy pattern of sleep bcuz I need 2 wake up & feed my belly. I thnk ur fine!
7584600 tn?1392261434 I HAVE read so many conflicting things..Is flaxseed oil bad for the liver or not!
974298 tn?1324833193 um I am not sure about the flaxseed... I have no info on it!!! but it won't hurt just to try it for one cycle and see how you do!!!
Avatar n tn I live on smoothies..every morning!! Strawberries, bananas, blueberries, ground flaxseed, greens and oatmeal! Keeps me full throughout the morning, it's the only thing I could stand to eat the first 2 months.
Avatar n tn I was the same way. I drink lots of water before and after every meal. It's helps alot.
Avatar f tn Did your doctor run you through a series of tests to confirm this is IBS and not something else, such as the colonoscopy? If not, you should insist on it. Have you looked into food sensitivities? Something similar used to happen to me when I first learned that I had IBS. It wasn't until years later that anyone told me about the connection to food sensitivities. Try researching information about the food elimination challenge diet.
