Avatar f tn the current recommended daily intake of protein is 46 grams for women aged 19–70 Any excess protein consumed is turned into energy by the body, and it is controversial whether this excess protein causes a strain on the liver. A deficiency in protein leads to muscle atrophy, and impaired functioning of the human body in general. low sodium Parmesan cheese provides the most protein with 41.
Avatar m tn The biggest fear often expressed about whey protein intake is that too much protein isbad for the kidneys.” Research though has shown this is not true at all in healthy individuals. For those with known kidney disease, high protein diets can exacerbate pre-existing conditions. Healthy individuals, without any underlying or unknown kidney disease have nothing to worry about with higher intakes of protein.
Avatar n tn additional information: as for your redistribution of these macronutrients, you have to be very careful in doing so. Since any amount that go over or go beyond the normal range causes certain adverse reactions inside our body. for example: you wanted to consume more fats and less protein, that action will lead to ketosis (due to excessive intake of fats) and weakened immune system (due to low intake of protein since protein is a major component of our body's defenses).
Avatar f tn Has anyone found out what is recommended for reduced protein for Hep C/Cirrhosis patients?
Avatar f tn Milk, peanut butter, beans, also broccoli is all great because you still need your protein and iron
Avatar f tn No problem. This article is specifically for toning the glutes (butt) even if you have bad knees. https://www.shape.com/fitness/videos/best-glute-exercises-if-you-have-bad-knees. I've probably done every single one of these at one time or another and all are pretty easy to do. Of course, check with your doctor if you need to and go slow.

Avatar n tn Protein is perfectly safe, and is very good for adding muscle, if not used in excess. Simply taking a few shakes a day to help get in your required protein will not harm you, but will be beneficial. But its better for you to take your doctors advice before you start taking your supplements.
Avatar m tn What are you trying to accomplish? Get some exercise, or look a certain way? Unless you're a professional bodybuilder who will make a ton of money doing this, it's a bad idea for your health. Of course you're free to do what you want with your body, but as this is a nutrition forum, it's unlikely any of us will encourage you to overdo anything. Now, what are these downsides?
10351533 tn?1409568134 Yeah it's deff not a good thing, a lot of babies come prematurely because of it. Hope your test comes back negative!!
Avatar f tn They will possibly want to check your urine for protein and your blood pressure. So, please let them know about this. Otherwise, it's the usual--- sit with your feet up and drink extra water. But DO call your doctor to make sure this is unrelated to blood pressure. I had this and DID have hypertension. My good friend had this and it was NOT related to blood pressure. we both had to wear our husband's shoes! (such a good look) So, check in and get checked out.
1527017 tn?1291671470 This is what I know about protein urine testing. Urine protein testing is used to help evaluate and monitor kidney function, and to help detect and diagnose early kidney damage and disease. If the level is high, the doctor may order a secondary test to determine which proteins are being excreted and in what quantities. Greater than 1200 appears high. However, rereading your post I am unsure if you are mixing the tests urine protein against urine keytones?
Avatar m tn t account for natural fluctuations. If you eat a well-balanced diet, get your veggies, get your protein, avoid the bad stuff, and you feel good, you're probably fine. If you feel bad, eat badly, then you're probably not fine. An example: you always hear about people saying they need to burn off the holiday excess after the winter holidays, but this is not true -- one binge does not alter basic metabolism, and if you do not alter basic metabolism you will stay the same.
Avatar f tn Yes thats normal in the second trimester. It is usually caused by blood pressure etc but since yours is fine then theres nothing to be concerned about. Im 30 weeks with my second and have started seeing the stars aswell. But mine at the moment is caused by my blood pressure and sugar because I was really sick and have struggled to put on weight and keep any food down. With my son I saw them around 20 weeks due to my excess weight gain. When getting up, don't go quick. Just pase yourself.
Avatar n tn The concern is when you have TOO MUCH protein in your urine. This is a symptom known as proteinuria. How can you tell when you have too much protein in your urine? One of the tell-tale signs of too much is when your urine is very foamy, frothy or bubbly. Another way to diagnose proteinuria would be through a urinalysis. What is most likely happening is your body is not breaking down certain proteins properly, or you have been ingesting too much protein for your body to absorb and utilize.
5889951 tn?1380316047 I had the same problem about a month ago. The cause for concern is that high levels of protein in urine is an indication of preeclampsia . However if it is low, like yours measured they will just monitor your blood pressure and any swelling you get.
Avatar n tn Hello, Keratosis pilaris occurs when the human body produces excess keratin, a natural protein in the skin. The excess keratin, which is cream colored, surrounds and entraps the hair follicles in the pore. This causes the formation of hard plugs (process known as hyperkeratinization). I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Apparently urine smell in the sweat is caused by too much protein - sounds like you should try reducing your protein intake and increasing your carbohydrates. Here's an article that might help. http://health.howstuffworks.com/skin-care/information/nutrition/ammonia-sweat-smell.
Avatar n tn protein drinks and whey protein drinks aren't bad for growing boys. protein is the fastest way to spur muscle growth. i don't know what part of the world you live in, but you can find both of those products at Trader Joe's if that market is availible to you. If not you can find them at pretty much any health food store, major supermarket, or vitamin shop. some gyms like equinox sell those products also.
269786 tn?1243793707 PMoon- protein is hard for me to consume, too. I started buying Luna bars (I buy Carmel Chocolate Brownie, yum!) but I'm trying SpecialK bars this week because they have an extra gram of protein compared to Luna. Example of an entire day: Boiled eggs or egg whites on toast for breakfast, yogurt for a snack, some walnuts or almonds or chicken on a salad for lunch, and a nice chicken breast with steamed veggies for dinner.
