Common Questions and Answers about Excess protein excreted

protein

1527017 tn?1291671470 This is what I know about protein urine testing. Urine protein testing is used to help evaluate and monitor kidney function, and to help detect and diagnose early kidney damage and disease. If the level is high, the doctor may order a secondary test to determine which proteins are being excreted and in what quantities. Greater than 1200 appears high. However, rereading your post I am unsure if you are mixing the tests urine protein against urine keytones?
Avatar n tn ll most always have some protein in your urine, as trace amounts of protein are excreted in your urine as part of normal urine production. The concern is when you have TOO MUCH protein in your urine. This is a symptom known as proteinuria. How can you tell when you have too much protein in your urine? One of the tell-tale signs of too much is when your urine is very foamy, frothy or bubbly. Another way to diagnose proteinuria would be through a urinalysis.
187666 tn?1331173345 Avastin can cause protein to be excreted through your kidneys...I'm on Avastin now and have to have my urine checked before every visit for excess protein. Other than that, I don't know that it can impair kidney function... I suppose though, that any chemo could potentially damage your kidneys. I don't remember seeing that listed as a side effect though... Hope this helps..
1472747 tn?1286894720 This means that while taking the drug excess water is excreted as urine. However, the body will retain potassium, which is often excreted in larger volumes using other types of diuretics such as Furosemide which is a loop diuretic. By not taking these meds your body is retaining excess water and gravity is allowing it to pool in the extremities of your body. Did you stop taking this drug at your discretion or was it a recommendation by your GP.
1778927 tn?1381878747 B complex vitamins are water soluble and when in excess are easily excreted by the kidneys. So, the raised levels may not be due to a single kidney, its more likely to be due to consuming excess. You could cut down on the supplements and repeat the test. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I hope your dipsticks are showing negative protein now. What was the protein level anyway?
Avatar f tn Some carbohydrates start to break down in our mouth with our saliva, then the stomach starts protein break-down. The food makes it way to the small intestines where fats, and protein break down are completed, and all, including carbohydrates, are absorbed into our bodies. Whatever is not broken down, passes into the large intestine and excreted.
Avatar f tn This can be the result of chronic conditions such as kidney failure (when excess fluid cannot be efficiently excreted) and congestive heart failure, in which excess fluid accumulates in the body. Sometimes been referred to as "water intoxication," especially when it is due to the consumption of excess water, for example during strenuous exercise, without adequate replacement of sodium.
1145347 tn?1315798419 Copper plays a key role in the development of healthy nerves, bones, collagen and the skin pigment melanin. Normally, copper is absorbed from your food, and any excess is excreted through bile — a substance produced in your liver. But in people with Wilson's disease, copper isn't eliminated properly and instead accumulates, possibly to a life-threatening level. Left untreated, Wilson's disease is fatal.
Avatar n tn Around the same time I first started noticing that my urine was quite frothy but only in the morning. Doctor did a random Urine test - 1 sample in the afternoon, this showed no protein. Blood urea and Blood Creatinine were smack in the middle of the normal range. Kidney ultrasound showed proper kidney size. One week later I still see frothy urine every morning. I intend to get a 24 hour albumin and creatinine filtration check and also a BUN and plasma urea, creatinine test done.
Avatar f tn When kidneys are damaged protein / albumin is excreted. The higher the protein in mg the faster the progression to End stage renal failure in some Kindey disease. Some Kidney diseases do not excrete protein but still continune to end stage renal failure. You would need a biopsy to see if you carry a kidney disease that is not related to diabetes or high blood pressure. Some of these are FSGS, MCD and PKD. There are many support group forums for Kidney disease.
Avatar m tn does excess protein intake (like eating excess tuna fish) increase liver enzymes ast and alt?
Avatar f tn It's ketones, and is protein excreted in the urine and has to do with poor nutrition, low carb diets, and low blood sugar. It's more of a signal that you need to get more nutrients to yourself and the baby rather than the ketones themself being dangerous. It's really quite common in pregnant women who are really sick with nausea and vomiting.
Avatar m tn The technique has been around for two thousand years. Many medications, especially antibiotics are excreted virtually unchanged, and urine drinking is a survival technique when there is a short supply of antibiotics. You are taking far too much ibuprufin, which may result in eventual liver damage. Try to reduce your intake to no more than 800 mg a day. Pain medications are also excreted to varying degrees and drinking urine increases the blood levels.
Avatar f tn An excess of folic acid ingested is flushed out or excreted in the urine, without any health problems. But taking high doses over a long period of time can result in some problems.
Avatar n tn Doxicycline is a drug that can accumulate in bile and tissues (liver, bones, spleen,,,) and is mostly excreted in urine, you had an allergic reaction (vomitting) and for some reason may be your having sensitive reaction to sunlight because of it's accumulation, (usually not yellow but burn skin...., so it's strange too), it looks like excess of bilirubin in blood, did you test for direct and indirect bilirubin and for bile duct obstruction? and about bilirubin in urine???
Avatar f tn the current recommended daily intake of protein is 46 grams for women aged 19–70 Any excess protein consumed is turned into energy by the body, and it is controversial whether this excess protein causes a strain on the liver. A deficiency in protein leads to muscle atrophy, and impaired functioning of the human body in general. low sodium Parmesan cheese provides the most protein with 41.
583196 tn?1429221155 However, like Latrice said, try taking them at night ...they might not be absorbing fully into your body and the excess being excreted is causing the smell. I switched to taking mine at night, but mostly to help prevent being nauseous during the day.
468408 tn?1208433009 Being an amino acid, the main problem with excess would be the same as the over ingestion of any protein (amino acids are the end result of the metabolism of protein, it's how your body absorbs protein).
Avatar n tn I was thinking of starting working out again after a long time and I was wondering weather using Protein shakes could have any adverse affects on my acid reflux? If so Is there any special one i could take that would not bother my acid reflux. And btw the manuka honey is working for me better than any of the medications has ever done. Thank you for your time.
Avatar n tn Protein is perfectly safe, and is very good for adding muscle, if not used in excess. Simply taking a few shakes a day to help get in your required protein will not harm you, but will be beneficial. But its better for you to take your doctors advice before you start taking your supplements.
Avatar m tn Albumin and total protein. Levels of albumin — a protein made by the liver — and total protein show how well your liver is making proteins that your body needs to fight infections and perform other functions. Lower than normal levels may indicate liver damage or disease. Bilirubin. Bilirubin results from the breakdown of red blood cells. Normally, bilirubin passes through the liver and is excreted in your stool.
Avatar f tn It has become a huge deal in my relationship b/c every time my boyfriend goes down on me he is disgusted by the smell. Every single day i have a white discharge as well not alot but enough to make it come out on my underwear. How do i get rid of this urine smell? I keep around that area shaved so the bacteria won't get attached to my hair and that doesn't work either.
Avatar f tn Hi Trm, My opinion on your Question would be that your body will tell you if you have a over% of vitamins in your body. The side effects are normally nausea, diarrhea and stomach cramps.
Avatar f tn Many people with chronic liver disease are malnourished and require adequate protein to maintain a stable body weight. A diet with adequate protein and energy is therefore recommended. I have decompensated cirrhosis and HE and know many people who are very ill and waiting for a liver transplant. When you very ill and have end-stage liver disease patients have difficulty eating and suffer from muscle wasting because they don't get enough protein.
