Avatar f tn Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 15 to 30 minutes twice a day. Children under 15 years – do 10 to 15 minutes twice a day. Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.
Avatar m tn Typically sugar is not seen in the urine until blood sugars reach 200+ mg/dL. As a diabetic you are at risk for diabetic nephropathy, a kidney disease which is a complication of having persistantly high blood sugar levels. Docors ususally test for this by measuring microalbumin (which is a protein) in the urine.
Avatar n tn After months of intrusive tests following multiple infections, my daughter was diagnosed with mild nephropathy a few years ago at the age of about 8 or 9, and then diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes a few months ago (at the age of 13). After the "mild nephropathy" diagnosis, she went to a specialist every year for a few years to check on the kidney damage, and it didn't change (ie didn't get worse), so they said she didn't need to keep going back.
575214 tn?1218040360 Hi, Thin basement membrane disease (TBMD, also known as benign familial hematuria and thin basement membrane nephropathy) is, along with IgA nephropathy, the most common cause of asymptomatic hematuria. The only abnormal finding in this disease is a thinning of the basement membrane of the glomeruli in the kidneys. Its importance lies in the fact that it has a benign prognosis, with patients maintaining a normal kidney function throughout their lives.

Avatar m tn I am a diabetic and have peripheral neuropathy in my feet and legs .I was told it also might low testosterone. I am seventy. Do I need a specialist or general doctor to access the problem?
Avatar m tn The hyperglycemia produces increased matrix production and thickening of the of the glomerular basement membrane (GBM). This causes the nephropathy. This in turn causes systemic hypertension. To prevent further damage, he will have to take medications regularly and check his blood sugars to ensure it is in the normal range of 80-120mg/dl. Strict adherence to a diabetic diet and regular exercise will further help to reduce blood sugars. He will need regular follow up with his nephrologist.
903476 tn?1242237037 I have a 10 year old Miniature American Eskimo she's a diabetic on 12 units of insulin twice a day and she has some major eye problems. She was diagnosed with cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic nephropathy or whatever it's called(blind from the diabetes) and the retina has ruptured in one of her eyes. She's on Voltarin eye drops and Tramadol for the pain but recently I've notice her whole eye ball even her eye socket is shrinking it's like half the size it was a month ago.
Avatar n tn m currently taking Irbesartan every morning and is now controlled well. I enjoy traveling in hot conditions, some days can be up to 39 degrees. Can my blood pressure medication stand such heat if I was to say just put it in my wallet? I'm always traveling to different places and don't always have access to a fridge or ice to take on hand. If not, are there any other heat resistance BP medication i can try?

Avatar m tn His fast sugar and post prandial seem to be in the normal range for a diabetic. However, recently in the past couple of months he has started complaining of breathlessness after walking a short distance (less than 10 feet) and has to sit down to catch his breath. Also, he gets fatigued easily after doing daily chores (like taking a bath). Recently, he has started complaining about pain in his lower back (above tail bone but below the chest rib cage).
Avatar m tn Most commonly protein in urine appears with kidney diseases like nephropathy and damage to the kidney. If the quantity is more you certainly need a nephrologist's opinion at your earliest convenience. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Microalbuminuria (persistent albumin in the urine) has been shown to be the earliest stage of diabetic nephropathy (kidney disease) in Type 1 diabetes and a marker for development of nephropathy in Type 2 diabetes. Microalbuminuria is also a marker of increased cardiovascular disease. An annual test for the presence of microalbumin should be done. Talk to your diabetes educator/doctor about gaining weight.
Avatar m tn My brother's doctor told him his level was hovering just over 30 recently. He also mentioned that he'd probably need to have a port put in sometime next year. That concerns me considering some of the things I've read. If I'm not mistaken, 30 is still stage 3 and it won't be stage 4 until it's under 30. Also I hadn't thought that a port would be necessary until it's much lower than that.

Avatar f tn Chronic kidney or chronic renal disease, is a progressive loss of renal function over a period of months or years through five stages. The most common causes of CKD are diabetic nephropathy, hypertension, and glomerulonephritis. Initially it is without specific symptoms and can only be detected as an increase in serum creatinine or protein in the urine. Abdominal ultrasound is commonly performed, wherein kidneys with CKD are usually smaller than normal kidneys.
Avatar m tn Immunoglobulin A (IgA) is an antibody that plays a key role in your immune system by attacking invading pathogens. But in IgA nephropathy, this antibody collects in the glomeruli, affecting their filtering ability. Researchers don't know exactly what causes IgA deposits in the kidneys, although IgA nephropathy appears to have a genetic component in some people.
Avatar m tn During this same period, his chronic viral hepatitis B was controlled by entecavir. To our knowledge, this is the first case in which membranous nephropathy developed during pegylated interferon ?-2a therapy for chronic hepatitis B. The autoimmune modulation induced by interferon is the most likely mechanism for this complication. Clin Nephrol. 2012 Jun;77(6):496-500.
