I was surprised when I got an email notification from our school district. They planned ahead for yesterday's walk out. Kids were allowed to do it but were to go to a designated spot in their school for roughly 14 minutes. lol My sons' middle school allowed kids to go. Wondering if my sons participated? Neither did. One said he was in the middle of something in class and the other said that he was working on something that was 3 points of extra credit and he wanted those points.

What did your psychiatrist say the problem was? Did he show signs of withdrawal in middle school. And its always possible that some of this could be drug related. Does he have a close group of outside friends that he sees? And, yes, getting a second opinion might be a good idea.

m not sure if this is the right posting place but it seems to be about the closest to what I had in mind. I have two boys and nerf guns are very popular. Air soft is popular too for slightly older, middle school age boys. Shooting strategy games are common video game material. When I was a kid, I like the arcade game -Area 51- (shooting game which probably dates me that this was my favorite arcade game growing up) But knowing real life from fake is important. Knowing real danger of weapons is essential. And this is a big area I'd make clear to him and discuss thoroughly.

No this is normal. You are a teenager. I used to feel that way quite a bit too, especially at school in really boring classes my mind would wander and I would feel aroused. It is incredibly frustrating especially in the middle of a boring mathematics class.

If you can push through it I say go. Definitely talk with your counselor about a5 min pass for the safety of the baby not being hit or pushed.

My daughter who is gifted and went thru elem school with straight As. Started middle school at a gifted magnet school and still make all As except in math where she got Bs. Halfway through 6th grade she either refused to go to or would call me right after being dropped off. Made it thru that yr but 7th started badly and I withdrew her and had her put in hospital/homebound where a teacher comes to our home twice a week. She received all As in homebound.

Your son is not anxious - he is suffering from anxiety. The difference is in "function" and your son is unable to totally "function" in perceived, unsafe environments (i.e. school) - inability to eat is one example. As it appears that your son is able to socialize and learn at school, it does seem as though his anxiety is not severe. By the way, not putting any pressure on him is a wise method to handling anxiety.

I've posted a photo of the letter we received from the district outlining the changes to be put in place following the Sandy Hook tragedy. I apologize if it's hard to read, plus I edited out names for privacy purposes. I am actually shocked the district was so quick to implement these changes, and I'm pleased. I don't think the gun debate should have anything to do with what each school district decides to implement for their children's safety.

Absolutely agree with Sandman, children don't at the best of times like to ask to go, they would sit and wet themselves first ,ask teacher to be discreet in the reminder .The bullying would have made it worse ,I hope you got that ironed' out with the school .

Hi, I am a Junior in High School and I have had stomach issues for a while. I had GERD and Acid Reflux two years ago, but it was mostly vomiting after eating. This past year I have had really bad abdominal pain and diarrhea, which has caused me to miss a lot of school. My doctor is still doing tests to figure out what the problem is, but I am not intolerant to gluten. I have been diagnosed with constipation and am taking Miralax for that.

Once she is confident that you are always within reach, even if you are out of sight, she will begin to gain the confidence in her classmates and teacher for the support she needs until she does see you return for her. It will take a while but she needs to know you want her to be happy with school because you know how much fun it can be. But the most important thing is to make sure this child has not had to deal with anything that has caused her anxiety.

DO u also have copies of the brain MRI report as well as the MRI itself?
