429700 tn?1308007823 I too am on Propanolol. Alongside this I am also on Buspar. I haven't had any side effects at all such as weight gain and it doesn't make me feel like i am on drugs such as lexapro and xanax did. Have you tried buspar before?
Avatar f tn On January 18, 2011, my doctor put me on Inderal LA 60 mg because a stupid doctor upped my thyroid medicine too much and my heart rate and BP went off the chart. I have not taken any thyroid hormone since January 18th. While the Inderal has helped lower the BP and heart rate, I am having significant side effects from it and just wondered if others had experienced the same thing. I am quite fatigued but the most disturbing thing is I'm having very vivid and scary dreams.
957923 tn?1246732553 I take Inderal LA 120mg 1x a day and I also take bcp (Yasmin) and Metformin 500mg 2x for weight loss. My doctor knew I was on Inderal LA and said it was fine. Talk to your doctor about getting on Metformin. It works great and with that I've lost 60 + lbs with it. I have all the symptoms that you have too, except I don't have high blood pressure. I wouldn't consider the lap band surgery (only as a last resort).
Avatar n tn I just started taking Inderal for my tremors and it seems to me that my head is shaking more than it was before I started taking it. I am only taking 10 mgs once a day. Is it possible for this drug to have that kind of adverse effect? Would taking 20 mgs work?
Avatar n tn He is having severe memory problems. Is it due to Geodon? He has schizoaffective disorder. He was also put on cogentin and inderal.
Avatar n tn i have been taking these capsules called inderal la for my depression and anxiety and they are not helping at all with my condition and i wanted to know if anybody else was taking the same medication and if it has helped them.
Avatar f tn My GP prescribed Inderal LA 60 mg, which I took for two days and then stopped b/c I felt very lethargic. The cardiologist wants to wait until after the holter test to give me anything b/c he doesn't want to suppress the "events" as he calls them. Obviously I can't wait to suppress the events! So at least I know if anything gets really bad I have the Inderal temporarily.
Avatar f tn Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day. For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
Avatar n tn They have been using different meds to try to help with the headaches and now she is on Inderal LA 80 once a day. It helps some but what do we need to do? Do we need to go through with the TEE or what?
Avatar m tn Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.
Avatar f tn Hi I have many different heart arrhythmias and I take Inderal la 60 , my heart rate is most of the time in the 50's I am having a Colonoscopy and my Dr. wants me to do Magnesium-Dulcolax prep . I feel that it would be dangerous to take it since that would probably increase my slow heart rate. What is a safe prep for people with heart condition like that?
Avatar f tn Thanks for the reply.....I agree the hardest part is taking propafenone 3x's aday. Dr.had me stop the Propafenone( I don't really know why) and go on 80 mg.of Inderal LA....wow....I went to pieces as far as my AF....stayed on the propafenone for 7 days....got worse everyday. With Drs' ok I went back to propafenone 325 x 3 and Inderal 10mg x 2 aday...maybe they will formulate a LA form of propafenone soon.
Avatar f tn Well that's very great news. Some of us are on medications that don't cause weight gain and it is much better. But some of us still are and the medications still work and don't cause other problems. For myself, the mood stabilizer I take Clonidine causes weight gain. I bought some chocolates today and I had already eaten dessert. I was going to snack on them anyway but I told myself not to or the weight gain would start so I didn't.
1268921 tn?1288919056 ve tried Inderal and Topamax and both of them made me extremely sleepy and depressed. Thanks for your help!! I greatly appreciate it!!!
Avatar m tn Im on propanolol 10 mgs 1 to 3 times a day maximum 90mgs but only take 60mgs and on inderal la 60 mgs.. I feel too tired on this junk I know its because it also goes to the head but so far its the only meds that have helped somewhat. I tryed Atenenol and metropolol those made them worse.. Im looking to experiment with something that might help without having to take it 3 or 4 times a day thats a pain in the a**....
233622 tn?1279334905 I still have not had any trouble with weight gain when it comes to the anti depressants I haveheard about. Very thankful for that!
1395903 tn?1280350875 i desperately want to lose some weight and hope that that will make me feel better. i dont think weight gain is causing the anxiety and i'm going today for some fasting tests such as cholesterol and all of them and thyroid levels again and he said he has some other tests he is doing too but i dont know what they are...i will ask today then i have to go back in two weeks to find out results.. at this point i almost hope they find something wrong with me to attest to this anxiety.
Avatar f tn Glad to see you in good hands. But one thing doctors don't pay too much attention is weight gain. usually people take RAI gain weight 10-15 pounds in the first 6 months. So if weight is one of your problems, control your eating the first few months. since once you gained the weight, it is very hard to get rid of it. So better to watch it at the beginning. And watch your eye too. (go read Dr. Lupo's other post about RAI) Good luck.
Avatar m tn I became about 15kgs overweight this year though because my mother was diagnosed with cancer. Could the weight gain be a contributing factor? Am I having an angina? I am on Inderal 40mg for anxiety. I don 't want to put my family through another emergency room visit that turns out to be anxiety.
Avatar n tn My throat has been sore for weeks. I have had no weight loss (darn the luck) and weight gain instead. I shake all the time and look like I am an alcoholic coming off the sauce. I have acne for the first time in my life. I am sensitive to the light. I feel drained and have insomnia at times. I am on inderal and methimazole to help control things. I started about 1 month ago. I had a blood test to determine if I follow in mom's footsteps with Graves, but results aren't in yet.
Avatar f tn After taking Celexa, I graduated to a new and better version called Lexapro. This was about 2 years ago. Recently, with my AFib issues, both my cardiologist and family doctor have taken issue with it. I'm unclear why and will ask them after I get my cardiovesion, but I think it is a "mood elevator" and with my heart thumping all the time anyway, the last thing I need is to take something that makes it go faster. I will have a more definitive answer for you soon.
