Avatar f tn Eithne01, The treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) has changed significantly since the late 1990s, with the development and subsequent approval by the Food and Drug Administration of imatinib (in 2001), the first of a class of medications called tyrosine kinase inhibitors, which target the specific abnormality that causes CML. Before that time, patients were treated with other therapy, including interferon and bone marrow transplant, and had very poor outcomes.
Avatar n tn It is possible that the white blood cell count would normalize after 2 weeks of taking Imatinib (Gleevec). Most responses to Imatinib are rapid since it targets the molecular pathogenetic event in CML. You may seek a second opinion if that will give you a peace of mind. Good luck.
1530342 tn?1405016490 Another shock came in January 2013, when the price of imatinib, which had cost around $25,000 a year, suddenly shot up to $90,000 per year. This is despite the fact that the development costs were recouped years ago, and that new indications have since been approved for the drug, increasing sales volume, Dr. Kantarjian reported. There was a huge outcry from both patients and doctors at this price hike, but to no avail. It was these 2 events that sparked the idea for the paper, Dr.
1004138 tn?1316251113 lots of people die all the time because they reject traditional treatments and go with 'natural' things instead I would think of using alternatives along with regular treatments, but not in place of them. Some alternative things might have some benefit. Isn't homeopathy the approach where you dilute some substance down to one part per billion or so, and then expect it to actually have some curing power?
Avatar n tn Are you currently on any medication like imatinib? The neutropenia can be due to your current medication. You can ask your hematologist for G-CSF injection if you have persistent neutropenia. Patients with CML are immunocompromised and can easily acquire infections. Neutropenia also puts a patient in an immunocompromised state. For now, it is very important to prevent acquiring any infection. You should avoid crowded places and persons with ongoing infection. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Hi. Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) is a blood disorder caused by an acquired genetic defect in the pleripotent stem cell. It has several phases: indolent chronic or stable phase, aggressive or advanced phase, and accelerated and blastic phase. The transition between phases may take years (on the average, 4 to 6 years from the stable phase to aggressive phase).
Avatar m tn I went to an EarNoseThroat doctor who took an X-ray which confirmed mucous in the maxillary sinus. He prescribed FACTIVE gemifloxacin-mesylate 320mg tablets which I took one per day for 5 days. I didnĀ“t notice any impovement. I suspected the tooth with the root canal was still the cause of the problem because it also fractured vertically into the gum. Finally I had this tooth extracted hoping it would solve the sinus problem.
Avatar f tn Average survival rates are generalizations, not applicable to a particular patient. The prognosis is relatively good. Newer techniques are being tried, including imatinib and stem cell transplantation. All the best, and God Bless!
Avatar m tn s normal breakdown of several drugs, allowing them to build up to potentially excessive levels in the blood. 2 Saquinavir mesylate as well as other protease inhibitors may be affected http://www.empowher.
645390 tn?1338555377 Do you think that maybe she misunderstood you? I'm on Copaxone and it cost about the same price. My copay is $15.00/month, my insurance covers the rest. I would call your insurance company and ask them how much it will be. If your insurance doesn't deal with shared solutions try calling Pression RX.
Avatar f tn TY for the reply. Yes I was told and am thinking that its parasitc or allergy. I went to aruba in June but that wouldn't have an affect on me now, would it?
Avatar m tn I have a pituitary tumor (prolactinoma) that I am on bromocriptin mesylate for and I have anxiety problems and panic attacks that I never had before. I think it is the tumor and not the meds because I was experiencing it before they started treating with meds. The endo says it is not related to the tumor but I am certain that it must be. I have found many other people online who say the same thing.
Avatar m tn Please, anyone could give a hint how to get ENTACAVIR at a good price? This medicine has been very effective to me and I'll have to take it "ad aeternum", BUT it is very expensive. Is there any program or any cooperative group buyer to reach and get some discount? I appreciate any info whoch could help me. Thanks a lot.

649848 tn?1534633700 Just thought I'd let everyone know -- I picked up my refill for Tirosint this morning and the price has doubled, from what I've been paying. I've been paying $85.44 for 3 months; that jumped to $170.88 for 3 months. My insurance doesn't cover it, though it does save me a few bucks ($55 on this refill). I've contacted Akrimax, but don't know if they will respond or not.
Avatar m tn No, I'm not blame them for everything. But some of them could charge a price less abusive, after all are the same corporations that are profiting here in my country charging the amount I told you ($33). Why do you have to pay 5 times more?
Avatar f tn hi..please can anybody tell me how much is the price of baraclude 500 mcg in india?and also tenofovir..thank you very much for your help..
620048 tn?1358018235 Last time I ordered my three month supply the base price went up about $800. My co-pay stayed the same at $150 for the 90 day supply. I've been interested to see what insurance is charged when I refill again the first week of September.
796506 tn?1370188305 Well I called tricare and the reason that I had to pay full price is because the doc didn't call the right number for pre authorization. I called my doc and they are going to fix all of it for me so I should be receiving a refund. Thank you so much for the fill in.
Avatar m tn I received my new script today and noticed the price listed this month was $33,600 In past scripts it showed $28,000 I was under the impression that there was pressure to lower the cost. Thank god for the help of the foundation.
649848 tn?1534633700 m just wondering if everyone else is experiencing continuous price increases, as I am or if my pharmacy is taking me for a ride. I'd been paying $85 and change (all out of pocket) for my 3 month supply (actually 84 gelcaps) for quite a while (3-4 yrs, at least), but back in the fall, the price doubled, as I think most thyroid meds did, or at least they jumped up. I'd thought $85 was "enough", but wasn't horrible, so I didn't complain.
