Weight has nothing to do with, if your diabetic or not. As for you Hgb(iron count), 20 is way too high. Normal range of Hgb for women: 13-16mg/dl. I don´t know what type of physician your seeing, but you do have some diabetic symptoms and this "physician" is not capable of observing symptoms nor does he have medical criteria.
Recomendation: Buy a personal blood glucose unit and monitor your results.
Under normal circumstances, the liver releases emergency sugars when a person's glucose levels drop below the normal ranges. Although some studies tend to indicate that some type 1 diabetics do not release these emergency sugars quite as well as non-diabetics, there is still a store of emergency sugars to help. I was also prescribed Lexapro, Lamictal, and Welbutrin for dystymia and anxiety. I recently taperd off the Lexapro. I now have all the symptoms of hypoglycemia: tingling in lips (its constant, no break) and dizziness at just the slightest turn of the head, heart rate that is averaging 100 beats per minute (this has been constant not in little bursts for about three days now), and tightness in the chest/lung area, slight muscular type pain during deep breathing (also for about 5 days now).

Yes, your symptoms do sound like those of hypoglycemia, but an infection can also cause drenching sweats. When your body is battling an infection, stress hormones are released, and it is possible, I suppose, that your body is just not functioning at its best right now. Whether you have had mild hypoglycemia before or not, of course, we can't tell.
These are vague symptoms for hypoglycemia. I would see an Endocrinologist and have some bloodwork done.

I have read that in the years leading up to a diagnosis of diabetes, some individuals experience the condition of hypoglycemia. Some folks have chronic hypoglycemia, in which their bodies respond to glucose with an oversupply of insulin. In others, this condition seems to be present for a while before diabetes develops. I visualize that as a time period in which the beta cells are under duress and are spurting & sputtering along, a bit out of whack.

t intend to read the articles, glucagon kits are used to treat severe hypoglycemia. Glucagon is injected, and it causes the liver to release emergency stores of sugar. It will only work if the liver HAS emergency stores of sugar, and then will not work again until the liver replenishes the sugar. So it is not a substitute for drinking juice or eating some carbohydrates, but is used to help the severely hypoglycemic person until he or she can eat or drink something.

I am taking methadone for pain management. i was told by a doctor in the emergency room that my low blood sugar levels could be due to my taking the methadone. is there any truth to this? My father has type 1 diabetes for most of his life. He is on an insulin pump now and for the last 2 years he is having a hard time controlling it, even with the pump. His blood sugar levels are continuously low and he doesn't feel any symptoms. My mom has found him unconscious several times and has had to EMTs come to bring him to the hospital. Is there anything he could wear that will sound an alarm when his sugar levels go below a certain level?
That sounds like Reactive Hypoglycemia, which is a condition where people's blood sugar drops after eating a meal high in carbs. You could try eating less carbs and see if it improves or you could visit your doctor.
In the past if I delay eating I will get the classic symptoms of hypoglycemia, nervousness, weakness, jittery, and nausea. Recently I have noticed at times I have had what I will call discomfort and weakness in my left arm with a headache and numbness in the lower part of my hand from the wrist to my little finger (which doesn’t completely go away. Your husband could be suffering from postural or orthostatic hypotension in which the blood pressure falls on standing up. Other than this it can be hypoglycemia or vasovagal attack.

I would see your doctor about this very soon, as folks with hypoglycemia may develop diabetes later on. You may have pre-diabetes, and need to go on a diabetic diet. Meanwhile, make sure you have both protein and carbohydrates with all meals, and with all snacks, which you seem to be doing. You also might need to get a dietary consult and/or see an endocrinologist, for both are specially trained in working with people with blood sugar problems.
We have heard of a few other situations like this with small children, and I know it must be terrifying for the parents. From what I have read about hypoglycemia, different people seem to have different types of hypoglycemia, meaning that different things bring on episodes. For some people, hypoglycemia happens if they don't eat enough carbs at one meal or if they skip a meal.
Do you have any of these symptoms...shaking, sweating, confusion, weakness?? If so, experiment with Orange juice or grape juice or whatever juice you prefer...drink 4 ounces and wait 10-15 minutes and check your count again...depending on which lab you have your blood work done, the normal range is either 70-110 or 80-120...if you are not having a hypoglycemic event, sweating, shaking etc. it's possible that your count is fine...
Hello, I've had both extreme symptoms of hypoglycemia (chills, intense hunger, rapid heartbeat, etc) and type 2 diabetes (frequent urination, thirst, rashes, fatigue) and have had several blood tests done but haven't been diagnosed with either. You don't say if you have type 1 diabetes. How low does your blood sugar drop at how long after eating. Then how high does it spike? Are you on medication or insulin?
I started having symptoms of fatigue, lightheadedness, early heartbeats, occasionally tachycardia and breathlessness in my sleep. feelings like hypoglycemia but with normal sugar levels. something that sort of mimicks hg because eating brings some improvement. I had many heart tests including cardiac CT, echo, stress test, thyroid, CBC, CMP, liver panel...BNP, SED rate is 0.
