Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia symptoms not diabetic

hypoglycemia

Avatar n tn That sounds like Reactive Hypoglycemia, which is a condition where people's blood sugar drops after eating a meal high in carbs. You could try eating less carbs and see if it improves or you could visit your doctor.
Avatar n tn blood tests indicate that I am not diabetic, however, as I previously stated I know my symptoms are those of hypoglycemia. If all tests are negative, I will follow with the cartiologist/stress test.
Avatar f tn I have been having problems with LOW BLOOD SUGAR. I am NOT a diabetic. Example: this morning i was dizzy, glucose was 115. I had a cup of yogurt, 30 mins later my level dropped to 95. After eating breakfast { 1 egg, 2 pcs whole wheat toast and 1 Tbsp peanut butter it dropped to 78. I can not seem to maintain my level and have been dizzy, nausuous and all the other symptons. It is hard to eat 6 meals a day as I work. I try to eat whole grains, and don't use sugar.
Avatar n tn I'm a 32-year-old female. I've been sick with strep, mono, yeast infections, bladder infections, more strep and more yeast infections for the past 8 months. I've been tired and just feel bad over-all. My vision has changed, my toe has fungus and I seem to have all of the symptoms of diabetes. I was tested for hypoglycemia about three years ago and it was 117. I saw my doctor last week for a follow up strep appointment and mentioned diabetes to him.
Avatar m tn Intensive treatment to control diabetes by certain drugs leads to hypoglycemia which may not be recognised by the body. These hypoglycemic episodes are the cause of weakness and loss of energy.
1770925 tn?1365618522 I have hypoglycemia for years and I don't eat sugary foods or fried foods. I eat small meals 6 times a day. Fruit and vegetables and soy products. Just fish etc. I am just saying that small meals often is the way to go with hypoglycemia. This eating regime helps my sugar stay level and not low, but if I stress the sugar drops and ginger helps me. I am not on any medication. See your Dr for advice.
Avatar f tn Weight has nothing to do with, if your diabetic or not. As for you Hgb(iron count), 20 is way too high. Normal range of Hgb for women: 13-16mg/dl. I donĀ“t know what type of physician your seeing, but you do have some diabetic symptoms and this "physician" is not capable of observing symptoms nor does he have medical criteria. Recomendation: Buy a personal blood glucose unit and monitor your results.
Avatar n tn Hello guitarsam, I apologize for the delayed response. First I need to tell you that I am not a medical professional, so my input/advice is not in place of advice from a physician. I am simply giving you input based on my own knowledge and personal experiences. My son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 3...he is now 9-1/2 years old. My ister was diagnosed 8 yrs. ago at the age of 24. I want to make sure I completely understand.
Avatar n tn I have read that in the years leading up to a diagnosis of diabetes, some individuals experience the condition of hypoglycemia. Some folks have chronic hypoglycemia, in which their bodies respond to glucose with an oversupply of insulin. In others, this condition seems to be present for a while before diabetes develops. I visualize that as a time period in which the beta cells are under duress and are spurting & sputtering along, a bit out of whack.
Avatar m tn I'm 13 almost 14 in may. I have the same EXACT symptoms. I'm dizzy all day everyday. I don't feel well after sugary snacks and such. I had an OGTT (oral glucose tolerance test) which is a 4-5 hour blood sugar test. I was diagnosednwith hypoglycemia. I'm not diabetic, I have the opposite of what diabetics have. I too have anxiety because of the loss of my sister (stillborn about 8 months ago) and don't know what anxiety does with low blood sugr. I hope this helped.
1523917 tn?1302215871 Ok. I just recently found out that I'm hypoglycemic. I have a pretty good primary Doctor. But I want a second opinion. She said that with my hypoglycemia, I have the symptoms, but don't need medicine for it, I just need to eat every 2 to 3 hours. So, is that right? Do some hypoglycemics not need medicine to control it? Also, I'm terrified that I will go into a coma or have seizures...
Avatar m tn The more you do this, your symptoms will go away. Stop thinking of being pre diabetic and think of health foods and balancing, and stay away of simple sugars, potatoes, honey or regular rice and pastas. Have whole grains or even pasta made from brown rice or beans. Beans is also a great protein. let me know if you have any more questions.
885280 tn?1289562555 Hypoglycemia can lead to diabetes if not watched. I was told by my doctor that we are going to have to watch me for diabetes as I am hypoglycemic. Because there is a history of diabetes in my family.
Avatar f tn I had another question I meant to add to my last post. I was put on Metformin when found out I had Insulin resistant Reactive Hypoglycemia. I took for a month & noticed there was no refill. I called nurse & was told they wanted to make sure I was not Diabetic. My question.......what symptoms would I have on Metformin that would be a sign of that & not Hypoglycemia. When I did my glucose test .....think I was tested 5 times....first was 166 and last 44.
Avatar n tn This type of hypoglycemia does not lead to diabetes.
1055725 tn?1265869375 m just going to speak to the symptoms you are experiencing and the possibility of hypoglycemia or diabetes. Hypoglycemia is one of the symptoms of diabetes and just means low blood sugar. Some people however, have a diagnosis of just hypoglycemia, without the diabetes. That is very different. Your symptoms might relate to either one, or they might not. Some other symptoms of diabetes are increased hunger and thirst. Some people however are diabetic without experiencing any symptoms at all.
Avatar f tn since that time my urine has never been rechecked during a glucose tolerance test and i have been controlling my hypoglycemia with dietary changes. a few years ago i started not feeling well after eating and no concern was shown for this. recently i have been perscribed steroids for a different issue and am essentially unable to eat. i become tired, ill feeling, weak, sometimes disoriented, and fall asleep often after eating, etc . I have lost 20pounds.
Avatar f tn Due to your sugar not actually being hypoglycemic (this is below 70) it's not likely reactive hypoglycemia. Reactive hypoglycemia is your sugar dropping within 4 hours after too many carbs eaten in non-diabetics. Based on your having dumping syndrome, it's likely that it's what is causing your symptoms. It's called late dumping. It might be something you could check into. A late dumping phase may happen about 1 to 3 hours after eating.
Avatar n tn tell you what the diabetic forum has some good folks who will know the answer to this..
Avatar n tn Your blood glucose reading at the doctor's of 7.7 (138 in the U.S. scale) taken at 45 minutes after lunch is not necessarily ok. Many of us don't reach our peak post prandial until 2 hours after eating in which case you could have peaked at significantly higher which is NOT normal for a non-diabetic. Mysteria's answer is the classic experience of a Type 1 but not of a Type 2. Type 2's in fact can have little or no symptoms and be diabetic.
Avatar f tn His symptoms do sound suspiciously like hypoglycemia. All of the things you mentioned are symptoms that can appear when glucose is low. The test that we recommend in the United States to check for hypoglycemia is a glucose tolerance test. I suspect from some of the foods you are listing that you do not live in the United States, so I don't know what this test would be called in your country.
Avatar f tn t understand the reason people get hypoglycemia. I read online is when diabetic people are taking their medications their sugar level go very low sometimes it can cause Hypoglycemia episodes. Is there any other reason why I would have hypoglycemia if I don't have diabetes? Also is there a high chance that hypoglycemia can turn to diabetes?
605252 tn?1220112165 That being said, you need an evaluation NOT at a diabetic clinic but at a stroke specialty center. The symptoms you describe are clearly neurological in nature.
