hypoglycemia

Avatar f tn The neonatal side effects of beta blockers used late in pregnancy are mainly the ones you listed: hypoglycemia, lower heart rates, and respiratory distress. The majority of babies born to mothers on beta blockers do not require treatment for any of these side effects. Treatment is sometimes required for hypoglycemia, and much less frequently for respiratory distress or low heart rate/low blood pressure.
Avatar f tn Are you pregnant? Macrobid is pregnancy category B--- used in pregnancy. Cipro, the gold standard is pregnancy category C--- not the best choice for someone who is pregnant. Amoxicillin isn't the best choice at all for a UTI based on the common bacteria that causes UTI's. Every infection is caused by a specific strain of bacteria. Some antibiotics are going to work better on different strains of bacteria.

I now have all the symptoms of hypoglycemia: tingling in lips (its constant, no break) and dizziness at just the slightest turn of the head, heart rate that is averaging 100 beats per minute (this has been constant not in little bursts for about three days now), and tightness in the chest/lung area, slight muscular type pain during deep breathing (also for about 5 days now).
Avatar n tn Dear melgonzales64, i am a diabetic like you and not a doctor or medical professional. Alcohal has many different effects on diabetics which is why the American Diabetes Association recomends diabetics only drink two drinks a day. If you take insulin for the alcohol it will just lower your blood sugar since alcohol doesn't need insulin for it to be digested.

Parents of type 1 children have to watch this very carefully and usually have glucagon kits handy to revive their children if they drop too low during the night. You must have been terrified.
10161345 tn?1488138652 I've had hypoglycemia most of my life and crohn's disease for all of it (though only diagnosed a few years ago), so I've always had to be kind of careful. I was wondering if anyone else had experience with restrictive diets and hypoglycemia during pregnancy? At 27 weeks I'm struggling to keep my blood sugar up/stable between what foods are and aren't recommended during pregnancy combined with what my flare-prevention diet allows.
Avatar m tn It could be the effects of hypoglycemia which may cause the fluctuating/intermittent symptoms. Low thyroid function can cause hypoglycemia because: it slows the rate of glucose uptake, decreases rate of glucose absorption, slows response of insulin & slows the clearance of insulin from the blood circulation. Look into a low carb low glycemic diet and spread your your food intake over more frequent & smaller meals.
