Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia blood results

hypoglycemia

Avatar n tn Hello MWood, As you may know, we're all volunteers here & are not medical professionals, so it's best to review your test results -- and any online research -- with your doctor. Your fasting number is well within the normal range. Your GTT numbers seem to be on the low side, as it is common for normal folks' blood sugars to rise to 140+ during a GTT. Your blood sugar also dropped rather quickly & to a very low level.
Avatar f tn However, it can also be due to pinched cervical spinal nerves, anemia (probably ruled out now), hypoglycemia (probably ruled out now), low or high blood pressure, acidity, ENT problems and PCOS. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn Without proper testing results one assumption is you experienced reactive hypoglycemia. Reactive hypoglycemia [or alimentary hypoglycemia] is low glucose [blood sugar] that occurs after a meal — usually one to three hours after eating. Try the following: • Eat several small meals and snacks throughout the day, no more than three hours apart. • Eat a well-balanced diet including lean and nonmeat sources of protein and high-fiber foods including whole grains, fruit and vegetables.
Avatar m tn i used to get readings of 300 mg/dl after eating a bag of cinnonnon bears and whatever else, i cant see that being normal, but my results came back and they said i had hypoglycemia
Avatar f tn Chronic dizziness, fatigue, lightheadeness, nausea, extreme belching(sometimes hundreds of times a day), diagnosed last year with a rare form of hypoglycemia.. Reactive Hypoglycemia. I suffer random spells of tachycardia, & chest discomfort. Ive seen 3 cardiologists & had every test minus a heart cath(I tried to get thst, but told NO). Including: 3 stress tests, 5 holters, 3 echos, 5 ekgs & blood work 3 times since 2013. Nothing found other than mild pvcs, & tachycardia.
Avatar n tn However, the results that I had gotten from a home glucometer pointed to hypoglycemia and the doctor said after seeing these results that this is something that should be covered closely. HA! I haven't heard from the doctor since and I really don't expect to. I cut back on carbs and am being careful to watch what I am eating expecially in the a.m. and I haven't had any "episodes" of hypoglycemia for a while now.
Avatar f tn What tests have you had done to determine blood glucose levels and what were those results? Since the pancreas and thyroid are both parts of the endocrine system the hormones do affect each other...
Avatar n tn Is this considered Hypoglycemia even though BS is 114 and if not why does he recover after an increase is sugar., and what can it be?
Avatar n tn t have Diabetes, although I have had hypoglycemia for years. I am waiting for results of some blood tests to see what they may show.
Avatar n tn Today about 20 minutes after my lunch I started sweating, feeling weak, heart racing, etc. I checked my blood sugar and it was 71 after eating a chicken salad, salad. I checked it before eating and it was 77 so why would it go down after eating a salad and a few wheat crackers? 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me.
Avatar n tn If your blood glucose was 61 an hour or two after breakfast, especially if your breakfast was fairly high carb (such as cereal, bread, etc) you might have a specific type of hypoglycemia called reactive hypoglycemia which is people who have low blood sugar after a meal high in carbs. I would suggest seeing your doctor and getting tested to see what type of hypoglycemia you have and to make sure you aren't pre-diabetes.
Avatar f tn Anyhow, the midwife who noticed this in the results asked me if I had been feeling OK when they took my blood. I was ready to go eat something at the time, but not feeling bad. I'd never had my blood sugar tested before, but how I was feeling seemed totally normal for me. I generally need to eat (pregnant or not) every 3 hours or so. So I'm thinking maybe I somehow have hypoglycemia that I've been managing on my own since I was a teenager? Has anyone else had this happen?
Avatar n tn It was a simple blood test and off I went. My GP told me that is the test to diagnose hypoglycemia, but his response sounded wrong to me as my symptoms are in relation to food. I am more interested in knowing how my body reacts to food since that is when I am symptomatic. From what I have read, reactive hypoglycemia is not diagnosed by a fasting glucose blood test alone but rather a GTT/OGTT. Is this your understanding?
Avatar n tn I am dizzy and nausea after eating what is it, I have had my blood sugar tested several times at the clinic and all come back normal, a few years ago a doctor had me get MRI of brain done and it was fine but still no answers. I can go months with out a dizzy spell and all of a sudden have them all the time. Any comments or suggestions would be helpfull. Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn Hello vprrchk ~ we're glad you found us and so happy that you find our site helpful to you! The condition you are referring to is HYPOGLYCEMIA which means 'low blood sugar.' Every person's sensitivity level is different and therefore where one person may remain conscious at a level of 50, another may encounter a seizure at that same level. I did type "hypoglycemia" into google and many, many links showed up, so try doing that for additional resources.
Avatar m tn t feel that everything was right with my blood sugar so I bought a glucose monitor to do random blood sugar tests. In the morning my BS is never lower than approximately 85. About an hour after (7:30am) eating my bs ranges up to 139 and after two hours it is back into the high 80's to low 90's.

Avatar f tn I have hep c and recently diagnosed woith hypoglycemia im very scared what will happen to me TY KRISTINE SMITH
Avatar f tn In the (1) condition, the simple carbs will deliver a bolus of glucose right into your blood, creating a spike in blood sugar, and then your body will react by secreting insulin to bring it low.
Avatar n tn Is severe Hypoglycemia a sign of Diabetes? I have had a normal fasting blood tests. My hypoglycemia strikes with no warning many times throughout the day, even as soon as an hour after my meals. I have to carry glucose tablets and orange juice with me at all times. When it falls low I cannot function. The last really bad episode of this I could hardly breathe, complete mental confusion, weak all over, headache, heart palpitations, very scary to say the least.
Avatar n tn lately my blood sugar levels have been dropping low then spiking after i eat, which is making me vomit, is this hypoglycemia, or something different?
