Avatar n tn My question is what side effects of tenormin, zestril, and hydrochlorothiazide can cause swelling, sweating, low pulse rate, cough, dry mouth, shortness of breath, and lightheadness? I take 100mg tenormin, 40mg zestril and 25mg hydrochlorothiazide daily and notice more symptoms each day. Also my urine is a dark yellow now and I feel tired and with no energy to do things now. I have been on these meds for a long time and still my blood pressure is high.
Avatar m tn It's amazing- other than some occasional flare-ups, I haven't had a stone in several years. I am concerned about the long and short term side effects of the hydrochlorothiazide. Outside of having to be conscientious about hydrating and really watching sun exposure, it doesn't bother me to take it daily. However, a nurse recently told me that there is research that shows a link between the hydro. and diabetes, and this causes me great concern since diabetes runs on both sides of my family.
Avatar f tn wrote me a prescription for 500mg of Nabumetone, a pain killer. When I asked what the side effects were, she said upset stomach was the most common. However, when I filled the prescription, the warnings on the printout were extremely serious and very upsetting. According to the printout: WARNING: THE RISK OF SERIOUS AND SOMETIMES FATAL HEART PROBLEMS, HEART ATTACK, AND STROKE may be increased with the use of this medicine....

Avatar n tn I was released. I was told I should have no side effects. But now I have bad head aches on my left temple and I get a stabbing pain on my temple and neck, that last that last just several seconds. Also my speach has been effected slightly. Often I will be talking and a word will pop in a sentence where it doesnt belong, and I forget just what I want to say. Could you tell me how long these symptons last?
Avatar m tn If for high bp, what was your bp before and after Losartan, what dose did he put you on, and are you still on it. Any side effects? Also, did you take Losartan by itself or with a water pill. The water pill/Cozaar combo is called "Hyzaar".
Avatar f tn Your medications generally do not cause diabetes. The hydrochlorothiazide in Dyazide can increase blood sugar levels in diabetics. Other risk factors for diabetes include advancing age, body weight and lack of exercise. If not already doing so, try some lifestyle modifications such as exercising regularly, eating few carbohydrates and sugars, and avoid smoking.

Avatar n tn Glempiride (for diabetes) can give dizzness or light headness; Crestor is to control cholesterol, have more offen side effects but doses of 10 mg are the lowest , and side effects can be abdominal pain (not chest). So is better to talk to the doctor about this side effects. She is very well medicated but allergic reactions can happen. TALK TO TE DOCTOR is all I can tell.
Avatar m tn No ONE is for the diabetes that you mention. Some of those medicines may produce side effects that need either time to accommodate to them or changes in doses/medication.
Avatar m tn I do not have diabetes though it does run in my mother's side of the family (her father and sister died of diabetes). My A1C level is around 5.6 though my sugar level is around 113. I find the neuropathy very annoying. When I read about statins, I stopped taking them..a few years ago.I recently saw another doctor to check my blood pressure which has been elevated. She prescribed hydrochlorothiazide..and guess what...a Lipitor statin generic.

Avatar n tn The most effective regimen would be the one which lowers your blood pressure and has the fewest side effects. There are blood tests which monitor the thyroid gland. You should ask your doctor how well you are adjusted to your current dose of thyroid replacement hormone. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn It did what it was supposed to do, however I also developed post partum anxiety/depression and was put on Escitalopram, Alprazolam (as needed) and klonopin (1mg) at night only. The side effects of the labetalol for me were awful, so once my readings got better, I weaned off of it and am now not taking anything for Bp which usually stays in a good range (120-135 over 78-85). Some days it's a bit high and some days it's normal.
Avatar m tn The usual procedure is to start a patient on a single agent and slowly optimize the dosage and monitor for side effects. If there are no side effects experienced by the patient and the goal blood pressure is not reached, then a second agent can be added.
Avatar f tn Because of the potential for side effects and interactions with medications, dietary supplements should be taken only under the supervision of a knowledgeable health care provider. People with heart or kidney disease should not take magnesium supplements except under their doctor's supervision. It is very rare to overdose on magnesium from food.
Avatar n tn just read everyones postings on here regarding beta blockers. I did not know that one of the possible side effects could be diabetes 2....Bad enough in my case that the Metoprolol 50MG daily that I am taking makes me feel very sluggish and tired and now I read on here that they raise ones chances of developing type 2 diabetes. This just never ends. I have an aneurysm on my aortic root, so, I guess I have to be on BETAS...I have not read where there is anything else I could be on.
Avatar m tn If anything, it can lower BP in some people. Of course, some of us can have atypical side effects and reactions towards meds, but that's rare. SSRIs are effective in treating anxiety. Your anxiety will be a bit worse in the beginning, but after 2-6 weeks it will slowly reduce. Xanax does not treat anything (it just temporarily gives some relief) and is highly addictive. It's not at all a good replacement for Lexapro.
Avatar m tn You must be so proud of yourself for trying to cutback the Flecainide. Most of us simply take side effects as part of the deal and you tried. Wow! The thing is now you don't have to wonder and you got peace of mind. I too have that drugged feeling while on Rhythmol and recently Flecainide. My daily exercise has been limited as I have so many side effects from this drug. In the medical world this is known as paying the price for maintaining sinus rhythm.
Avatar f tn Yrs ago they wanted to put me on meds but refused due to side effects. I just drink lots of water and try to eat healthy but both my kidneys are full of stones... How r u feeling and are u happy with your dr's?
646318 tn?1261185094 Somehow, it makes sense to me that how it dilates the arteries and slows down the heart would be a perfect match with the side effects of tx. My doc loves ace inhibitors but I think she may be missing something. Copyman, who prescribed your betablocker, your MD or your hepatologist? BB, you've been prescribed a beta-blocker also, so please let us know if you respond to it.
Avatar n tn drugs DO work for a lot of people, and if they can get such benefit without debilitating side effects, more power to them. In my case, every rotten drug they've tried on me had perverse impacts. Attenolol, Accupril, Clonodine, Toprol, and a standard diuretic (hydrochlorothiazide) all did damage. Both Clonodiine and Toprol actually caused dangerous spikes in my BP. Toprol drove my (formerly excellent) lipid measurements skyhigh ... all in about 8 weeks or so (e.g.
Avatar n tn However, I had a hard time tolerating levo at first, and I know I'll end up asking all of them (and maybe more)eventually, so here goes. Can you describe the side effects you have from taking the Synthroid? Are you on brand name Synthroid, another brand, or generic? What is your meds history? What dose did you start at? Did you have to decrease because of side effects? Are you over 50, OR were you hypo for a long time before starting meds, OR do you have a history of a heart arrythmia?
Avatar f tn but i wasnt very consistent with it, i barely took it because of the side effects as far as going to the bathroom like crazy. and I was also put on 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide for my bp, to see if a water pill could help reduce it before I had started an actual medication.
Avatar n tn biotin deficiency, vitamin A excess, magnesium deficiency are good possibilities. Accutane side effects list biotin deficiency and hypervitaminosis A (too much vitamin A). Accutane is a form of vitamin A. Biotin deficiency causes hair breakage. Too much vitamin A causes many symptoms but include increased changes in skin, hair, and nails, dizziness, fatigue, blurred vision, elevated cerebrospinal fluid pressure (intracranial head pressure).
307500 tn?1302119746 I can say that , yes, people have side effects from aspirin and all sorts of medications and herbal supplements. You take a risk with any medication or supplement, and basically need to try to weigh the possible pros and cons. Taking Byetta does not GUARANTEE you will lose fat in any specific area of the body. Neither does taking it GUARANTEE you will not have a stroke etc in future. We do not have magic medications, but do have some very good ones.
Avatar n tn A2 inhibitors (which I'm on), ACE inhibitors, and calcium channel blockers (which I'm on), seem to have far less side effects. But they are more expensive.
Avatar f tn Good luck and hope those infections go away, I know I was on a very strong antibiotic cause i have been on so many that my body wasn't getting better but even that one didn't help but man it did have bad side effects. I think my co payment for it was $50 and that is ALOT of money.

Avatar f tn I still struggle with muscle weakness and the occasional spasm. But for the most part, my levels remain on the low/normal side. I think my last calcium level was 8.3. I currently take 500mg of calcium twice a day, 400 mg of magnesium twice a day, and .025 mcg of rocaltrol (vit.D). I also take 100 of Levoxyl. Good luck in your recovery process. I say process because I don't think we will ever fully recover from this.
