Avatar f tn I believe that primary care manager thinks I am hyper now because of side effects from hydrochlorothiazide (am deathly allergic to sulfa drugs and this is a sulfa drug - unbeknownst to me until today).
Avatar n tn I'm now taking Toprol and I initially tolerated it well at the begining, but now I seem to be having the same side effects as when I was taking Zestril. The side effects that you mention are very frustrating...these drugs are meant to help us, but at the same time create problems of their own. What was the beta blocker called that you were taking?
Avatar n tn I was released. I was told I should have no side effects. But now I have bad head aches on my left temple and I get a stabbing pain on my temple and neck, that last that last just several seconds. Also my speach has been effected slightly. Often I will be talking and a word will pop in a sentence where it doesnt belong, and I forget just what I want to say. Could you tell me how long these symptons last?
Avatar m tn //www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/losartan-oral-route/side-effects/drg-20067341) Again, I understand the implication of going off medication without seeking professional advice first, but I was traveling in another country where I do not speak the language and was unable to reach my doctor by phone. I've discussed it with him and assured him that I'll be sure to get in touch with him before ever making a similar decision.
Avatar n tn Side effects of losartan potassium-hydrochlorothiazide tablets such as dizziness, myalgia, muscle pain, weakness and restlessness may be managed with dose adjustment. Cutting the pill may result in unequal doses for each medicine and may not be as effective. It is best to take the medicine as prescribed or inform your attending physician regarding the symptoms that you experience for proper management. Lowering the dose to 100-12.5 or 50-12.
Avatar n tn Hi, Are there other signs or symptoms present? Feeling numbness in your toes can be caused by problems with blood circulation, injury, nerve damage or even disease. However, this could also be due to some medications such as the combination of lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide that is used to treat high blood pressure. Lisinopril is in a group of drugs called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) while Hydrochlorothiazide is in a class of diuretics.
Avatar n tn Glempiride (for diabetes) can give dizzness or light headness; Crestor is to control cholesterol, have more offen side effects but doses of 10 mg are the lowest , and side effects can be abdominal pain (not chest). So is better to talk to the doctor about this side effects. She is very well medicated but allergic reactions can happen. TALK TO TE DOCTOR is all I can tell.
Avatar n tn i am currently takeing a diet medicine and im quite concerned about the effects. it is a schedule six drug and contains things such as, thyroxine sodium (13.31 ug per 20ml) caffeine anhydrous, norpseudoephedrine, biotine, hydrochlorothiazide, orlistat... and many many other ingredients. what do you think of this? could it be doing any permanent damage. i also get cad leg cramps and dizziness.
Avatar m tn Also the blood pressure issue may be related to the diclofenac, as this has as its side effects raising her blood pressure, so I would suggest using it sparingly or changing to another medication class.
Avatar n tn Is there alternate medicine for this? Is there any long term side effects for these drugs? She got no heart problems. Why BP goes very high?
Avatar n tn I take my pressure at home with an electric blood pressure monitor and I now average about 130 over 72 to 75. My question is, are there side effects associated with lowering blood pressure that much that fast? The reason I ask is that I feel as though I do not have good circulation in my feet. My feet and to a lesser extent my fingers get cold and look a bit purplish in color (not badly off-color) but slightly. Any ideas?
Avatar n tn Treating high blood pressure requires a partnership with your doctor, and potentially a willingness to tolerate some side effects. The effort put in now pays dividends later by not having strokes and other complications. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn First doses of lisinopril can cause dizziness due to a drop in blood pressure. Lisinopril can cause nausea, headaches, anxiety, insomnia, drowsiness, nasal congestion and sexual dysfunction. Lisinopril should be stopped if there are symptoms or signs of an allergic reaction including feelings of swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat. Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) and hives occasionally occur.
Avatar f tn wrote me a prescription for 500mg of Nabumetone, a pain killer. When I asked what the side effects were, she said upset stomach was the most common. However, when I filled the prescription, the warnings on the printout were extremely serious and very upsetting. According to the printout: WARNING: THE RISK OF SERIOUS AND SOMETIMES FATAL HEART PROBLEMS, HEART ATTACK, AND STROKE may be increased with the use of this medicine....
1398693 tn?1343688338 You mentioned an endocrinologist and also hypertension, so it's possible some prescription medication is doing this to you. Have your regular doc review side effects of everything you're on, and perhaps make some changes for you, see does that help.
Avatar f tn these are medications and can have risks, and side effects, but when used appropriately are generally very safe and will definitively lower your risk of having heart failure, heart attacks, kidney dysfunction, blindness, and strokes. I would suggest starting with hydrochlorothiazide and adding a beta blocker if the blood pressure is still elevated. By the way with your numbers you do not have pre-hypertension: you have most definitely full blown stage one hypertension and need treatment.
369861 tn?1306279286 Advair 100/50 mg Atenelol 50 mg Celebrex Diovan HCT 320/25 mg Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg Norco Soma I am sick and tired of this entire thing and I just don't know which way to turn. Everytime I turn around i'm being sent to another doctor and no one seems to understand what I'm going through. They just tell me that I need to lose weight and everything will be ok. Thank for all that you do and your listening.
Avatar m tn If anything, it can lower BP in some people. Of course, some of us can have atypical side effects and reactions towards meds, but that's rare. SSRIs are effective in treating anxiety. Your anxiety will be a bit worse in the beginning, but after 2-6 weeks it will slowly reduce. Xanax does not treat anything (it just temporarily gives some relief) and is highly addictive. It's not at all a good replacement for Lexapro.
Avatar n tn Celexa and Effexor had been helping me, but my husband was concerned about side effects, and withdrawal and asked me to make a change. Now, I am experiencing tremendous difficulty sleeping, severe migraines, which had been under control prior to taking Wellbutrin SR, and dizziness.

Avatar n tn However, I had a hard time tolerating levo at first, and I know I'll end up asking all of them (and maybe more)eventually, so here goes. Can you describe the side effects you have from taking the Synthroid? Are you on brand name Synthroid, another brand, or generic? What is your meds history? What dose did you start at? Did you have to decrease because of side effects? Are you over 50, OR were you hypo for a long time before starting meds, OR do you have a history of a heart arrythmia?

177505 tn?1220445858 She sent us to a pediatric cardiologist and they did an echocardiogram. They found that the left side of his heart is enlarged. This is due to having high blood pressure for a long time undetected. After seeing his pressures, (now 200's over 100's) the cardiologist admitted him into the hospital for testing and to get his blood pressure down. After 10 days in the hospital, and after many labs, cat scans and MRA's, he was diagnosed with Mid-aortic syndrome.
1285653 tn?1288362229 I too had some horrible side effects at first but the more my dosage went up the better the side effects got. the first week or so was the worst. It did nothing for my headaches and only intenseified my already annoying symptoms. My memory has been an issue for a while and the one bright side is that before Topomax my DH would get frustrated when he had to repeat himself because I didnt remember the conversation...and while on it he couldnt get frustrated with me. he he.
Avatar f tn AR-10 said it short, sweet and like it is, and, I agree! Don't let the month of no symptoms be a fooler. It might have taken a little longer for the symptoms to appear and levels to get ever dangerously higher. You might be better off treating each symptom separate and separate from thyroid. I did that with my constipation, my muscle pain/charley horses, my insomnia, my depression and so on. It helped doing it that way. If you don't help yourself, who else will (?

Avatar n tn biotin deficiency, vitamin A excess, magnesium deficiency are good possibilities. Accutane side effects list biotin deficiency and hypervitaminosis A (too much vitamin A). Accutane is a form of vitamin A. Biotin deficiency causes hair breakage. Too much vitamin A causes many symptoms but include increased changes in skin, hair, and nails, dizziness, fatigue, blurred vision, elevated cerebrospinal fluid pressure (intracranial head pressure).
646318 tn?1261185094 Somehow, it makes sense to me that how it dilates the arteries and slows down the heart would be a perfect match with the side effects of tx. My doc loves ace inhibitors but I think she may be missing something. Copyman, who prescribed your betablocker, your MD or your hepatologist? BB, you've been prescribed a beta-blocker also, so please let us know if you respond to it.
