Avatar n tn I have been taking Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide (HTCZ) for high blood pressure since May 2007. Recently I have a feeling that the Hydrochlorothiazide is not working as it used to be. Will HCTZ lose its effectiveness after a certain number of years? Anyone know the answer or having similar experience, please let me know. Thank You In Advance For Your Reply.
Avatar m tn But in the long run, your doctor need to figure out which drug is best for your medical condition and get you on the best drug for you. http://www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php?
Avatar n tn However, this could also be due to some medications such as the combination of lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide that is used to treat high blood pressure. Lisinopril is in a group of drugs called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) while Hydrochlorothiazide is in a class of diuretics. Tingling in the hands and feet along with dizziness, headache and cough are some of the effects that are observed in this drug combination.

Avatar f tn Diagnosed recently with high blood pressure. New med Hydrochlorothiazide for 2 weeks. Now my upper gum & roof of mouth are red, swollen, and painful. This is not a listed side affect. What's wrong?
Avatar m tn The doctor gave Losartan Potassium and Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets. The blood pressure is then controlled to 107~135 mmHg(high pressure) / 65~80 mmHg(low pressure). In 2015: My mother suddenly felt dizzy and she was found that her blood pressure jumped to 80~90 mmHg(high pressure) / 50 mmHg(low pressure). Then the doctor asked her to stop taking any blood pressure control medicine. Her heart is examined OK. What is the reason that blood pressure jumps from high to low?
Avatar n tn Can this be artificially high because of medications taken for other problems i.e. high blood pressure (5mg Norvasc, 12.5mg Hydrochlorothiazide, .1mg clonodine 2x daily), hormone replacement (premarin 1.25), anit-depressant (150xl Wellbutrin), sleep-aid (Ambien) and Prevacid?

Avatar f tn around 80 - 90), and also put me on hydrochlorothiazide for water retention. Is this high of blood pressure and pulse normal because of my pcos? I am overweight, 230 lbs, 5' 7". But I walk 2 1/2 miles 3 to 5 days a wk. I have retained water for years, which i always figured was from my pcos. No one in my family has bp problems. I take 2000 mg a day of metformin. I have also been having hot flashes with sweating.
Avatar f tn I was placed on potassium citrate and hydrochlorothiazide but the medicines have horrific side effects. Also, has anyone experienced elevated blood glucose levels and elevated LFT's after taking these medications?
Avatar n tn I wanted to add that she has been on the atenolol for about six years for palpitations and high blood pressure attributed to lyme disease. She has chronic lyme disease so the beta blocker does not help with the crushing fatigue. Atenolol has also caused her psorasis to get VERY BAD. What has anyone been able to taper to, a calcium channel blocker. Or does one need to stay on a beta blocker for life since the heart has become dependent on it?
Avatar f tn So now I have sarcoidosis hypercalcicuria along with fibromyalgia. If you feel like you have the flu from the neck up, sore throats and such check for sarcoidosis. My gland never swelled!!! I had a lot of sore throats.
Avatar f tn t too concerned at first because I read that as your body adjusts to it you can get a bit dizzy, and headache, and stomach upset. But when the cramps started getting so bad, I got worried. I began having diarrhea This continued on and off throughout the day. I called the pharmacist and asked if this was normal and he said no. That it was not normal and to not take it the next day and to tell my doctor. So I have to tell my doctor today and ask if there is something else I can take.

Avatar m tn I have had an heart failure due to high chotesterol so I am on medication for Hipertension/ High Cholesterol. I recent weeks after I start using Co-Diovan 160/12.5 mg in place of Hyzar I am experiencing a gradual tightening in the upper chest toward the neck/throat and it is as if i may stop breathing? Avatar f tn I'm presently on atenolol 40 mg (along with hydrochlorothiazide) once daily. I will be transitioning to propanolol 20 mg (and hydrochlorothiazide) twice daily soon - my doctor wants me to transition by taking propanolol - 1/2 of 20 mg twice a day for one week and then the full 20 mg twice daily. Why? Won't that cause rebound hypertension? Thanks.
Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
1668318 tn?1306416764 Hello, For congestive heart failure diagnosis, certain investigations are required and these include ECG, chest x-ray, echocardiography , nuclear medicine studies and maybe a coronary angiography (using dye inside of the blood vessels that can be seen using X-ray methods). You need to talk to your cardiologist and get these investigations done to rule out CHF.
1355431 tn?1369975306 Im really worried about my husband he is 35 years old and he is on 4 different blood pressure meds. He is on Lisinopril 10mg , Atenolol 50mg, Hydrochlorothiazide 25mg and Amlodipine 10 mg. Even with all theese meds his blood pressure is still way to high! It seems every doctor visit they add more meds. Ok I guess my question is, is it nessasary to be on 4 different blood pressure meds and is it safe? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Avatar f tn I am so confused because I have too many issues that can cause the same symptoms. Recently, my doctor switched me from Valsartan HCTZ to Hydrochlorothiazide plus regular Valsartan for my blood pressure. When I first started it, right away I was having rapid heart beat and shortness of breath so he told me take potassium supplements. That did help but now I am wondering if I am taking too much potassium.
Avatar f tn I am a 50 yr old female, obese, high blood pressure, otherwise generally healthy. For most of my life I have had high pulse rate, resting or not.
