HUMULIN-N HAS SWOLLEN ME UP. I HAVE GAINED OVER 50 LBS. I ASKED MY DOCTOR TO PUT ME BACK ON 70/30 AT MY LAST OFFICE VISIT LAST WEEK.

How frequent I can take insulin Humulin 70/30. I am taking 25 unit before each meal some just before meal or sometime after meal. Please advice how much I can take in a day ? How much min duration between 2 intakes ?

Cannot seem to control blood sugars, recently finished hep c tx succesfully, although still have cirrohsis but I am doing massive amounts of insulin novilin 70/30 injections (about 135 units daily) and feel real crappy as I seem to rollercoaster all over the place, any help out there. p.s. tried lantus and it worked for awhile, then did the rapid at all meals, tried both at same time, and just swithced to the 70/30 about a week or so ago.

I use (1) cartridge a day or less at 18mg nicotine, 30%VG, 70%PG will this show up on a blood test? Why are you running out !?!??!?! If it is just running out refill the prescription early 2 days. If you have Humilin R on hand I question how old it is. If more than 30 days it is probably expired anyway. I also question having this Insulin as it has been largely discontinued for use as better insulins are now available. But the short answer is Novolog and Humlin R do not act in the same manner so substiuting can be very tricky and is probably not recommended.

The last time I used Follistim I got pregnant before the cartridge was done, but I intended to keep it in the pen until the cartridge was empty. The first time I used Follistim I used it for 7 days and then coasted the rest of the cycle b/c I had too many similar sized follicles and my RE wanted to the small ones to stop growing. My RE won't do an IUI if there are too many mature follicles - prefers 3, max 4. I think the duration of treatment depends on how well you respond.

I have had diabetes for 30 years.I had much better control when I was using humuln n and humulin r . I am now taking lantus and novolog .I have had to increase my dosages and am still having a hard time getting control of my blood sugars. My aic is 7.8 this quarter vs 8. last quarter. should I go back to using the older drugs that gave me better control?

Zoe - I think Windchimes meant humulin insulin not huminsulin. Humulin is considered an intermediate acting insulin as its duration is 24 hours, but this can vary per individual. LANTUS, on the other hand, is considered long lasting as its duration is up to 36 hours. but i realized this cycle they called in only a 300iu cartridge of the follistim for me.. last cycle (three months ago which we got preg from) i had a 600iu cartridge, since i was taking a slightly higher dosage..anyhow.. if i take the same dosage i took last time, i'll be out of my new cartridge early.. does anyone know how long the already opened one should last? i've had it in the fridge for a little over three months, would it still be good>? You're a good friend to be concerned about your friends well being. If "N" is Humulin N, there is no "standard" Humulin N dose that will work for all people or even for the same person in all situations. This applies to other insulin types too. I have been using Humulin R and just started using humulog in combination with this to try and put weight back on , lost about 25lbs . I seem to be having trouble with the humulog . I have been having braxton hicks contractions since 32 weeks, they range from 30 mins apart when I am reasting to 2-3 mins apart when I am more active. It has landed me in the hospital twice, where they were stopped, but since I hit 37 weeks it has been a "just deal with it" situation since I am still thick and only 1 1/2 cm dilated.
