Prednisone can cause acne. I had UC for ten years until I perforated and had my colon removed and a J-pouch built 16 years ago. My son has UC and moved onto the Imuran last year. He did have some acne with the prednisone too. He has been in a wonderful remission this past year and is so enjoying feeling healthy. The only change he continues to make is to leave dairy alone as he realizes he is lacto intolerant. I hope you will get the same success.

I tried e-mailing the people on the LDN website with no reply. I wanted to get the name of a gastro. that prescribes it in Canada. My gastro. has never heard of LDN and told me to be wary. He claims he goes to every seminar on crohn's available and they never mention LDN. Also, the website claims it treats just about every ailment known to mankind. I don't want to be negative but this seems a little too good to be true.
Humira is a good medication to induce remission and symptom resolution, tough there are a few side effects associated. However all side effects may not necessarily develop in everybody. I would suggest discussing the pros and cons in detail with your treating rheumatologist.

t help you with Remicade, as my gastro refuses to prescribe it for me, because of side effects connected with my recent breast cancer. My Crohn's is kept under control with weekly injections of 25 mg methotrexate, and 3 mg tablets daily of entecort. I do the injections at home - real easy, only takes a couple of minutes, so no tedious 3 hr round trip to the hospital. The local GP's nurse is unwilling to do cytotoxic injections.
Yesterday my rheumatologist has finally decided to give me something other than anti-inflammatories and anti-depressants for my list of symptoms which he has decided are due to either Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriatic Arthritis (Palindromic Rheumatism was mentioned too) or possibly all of the above, with a side order of Fibromyalgia. Just wondering if anyone here has taken Humira (Adalimumab) as I've read about it and am freaking out a bit!
Lulu--I used to take humira, which is a TNF inhibitor like Enbrel. One of the rare side effects of both humira and enbrel is the development of MS or MS-like symptoms. I didn't pay enough attention to the warning because it seemed so remote and happened so rarely. However, it happened to me. If what I have is MS, the doctor isn't sure whether the humira caused it, or if I would've gotten MS anyway, but the humira hurried the process along.
Humira is an anti-inflammatory monoclonal antibody directed against TNF. Well, every drug including prednisone would have side effects and so does humira. Without a detailed evaluation, I would not be the best judge if this would be the most suitable drug in the situation; though it could be given a short period of trial to see how well you do on it. You may also like to get a second opinion from another gastroenterologist before making a change in the treatment plan.

My 12 year old daughter has juvenile diabetes at 6 yrs. and was recently diagnosed with Crohn;'s disease. I would like to know if there are any other children that have these two Chronic illnesses. She also has acid reflux.. I would like to know how long it takes for her to overcome a flare since she has been on medication for about 3mths. and is still vomitting clear stomach fluids.
You should also try checking your medication side effects. I highly recommend checking your medications to pin point the problem. I have begun taking Humira for my Crohn's Disease and my left arm feels like there are pins and needles in it. This is a side effect of my medication. So before you do anything else, please check your side effects list.
