when i was 7 years old, my lips were pink and beautiful as i used to apply vaseline coming in higher classes i got busy and left the habit then i started getting dark lips, my mother suggested to continue the habit and so i did and started putting petroleum jelly twice everyday but the darkness on the side of my lips and on my lips continued and even after going to many dermatoligists and using different medicenes gave no change ! im now in deseprate need of help!
On my bottom lips, some are partly red and some are dark, and there are also a few light speckles that almost form a line between the red and the dark area of the bottom lip. is there a way to reverse this or treat this discoloration because it REALLY bothers me! thanks! i also got a photo. sorry that its not too clear but hope you can help!
Im a 17 year old asian male with dark lips. I was born with lighter lips but i have neglected them when i was younger. I have always peeled and ate the skin of my lips (I know disgusting lol) when i was younger and they were chapped. Everytime i went to the dentists, when i'd have my teeth pulled and they used anesthesia i'd take very hot water and test on my lips to see how i can not feel the pain. I never really cared about my lips from about 5 years old to 13.
Over the summer I noticed that about 1/4 inch of the lips where it meets the lower lips turned to just brown from dark brown. Not sure if i caught it while shaving or what. I did go to the beach and not sure if that caused it either. Anyways, whenever my mouth is closed you can't notice it. When I open up my mouth though to talk, there is 1/4 inch where its just brown and then the dark coloration of my lips starts. Curious if there is any remedy to have that color come back or what?
Just take them completly as your doctor's advise,and not try to undrstand the medical proccessess,how they act,it needs to have a deep medical knowdelge.

Thank you so much for that information I am still trying to consult a physician but in the meantime can you please tell me some home remedies that i can use.I think i may have to switch my lip gloss to a more generic brand cause its look like my lips are getting darker. but when i apply the lemon juice it looks like it getting slightly lighter so can you please tell me what to do?
(my arms and face are dark but my chest and ab region is realy light so, but the tan is blended, i still hate the fact that my arms and face are dark, compared to the rest of my body, which is why i am determined to find a way of making my skin lighter)
i have researched the net on question sights and so far i have this information:
- Wash your face with milk, clean of after a bit
- Lemon (rub on face wash of after 10-20 minutes)
- Drink plenty of water
- Eat fruit and vegetables

Then during the summer before 10th grade, my lips started getting black. My whole upper lip turned dark black and my lower lip had black on the sides only.
