I am on the 5mg dosage of Letrozole from D3 to D7. I wanted to know, is it always effective to take this medicine . I also suffer from PCOS. I am on second cycle now and had my Menstrual Cycle was on CD27 with pre-menstrual discharge on CD26. It lasted for 4days only , so how do i get to know if I actually ovulated or not ? I had used OPKs on CD 10 and CD11 both in the evenings but got very faint line so cant even depend on that to know what happening in my body?

Typically, letrozole does have a favorable side effect profile in relation to toxicity. This doesn't mean it is side effect free, however. The trade off is that it does appear affective in terms of prolonging recurrence.

My fertility doctor prescribed there letrozole to me to take on day 3-7 of my cycle only. It blocks my estrogen enough to make my ovaries kick into overdrive and produce more/larger eggs. I've heard this is a common practice for fertility clinics.

m sure your day is coming soon! =) It does make more sense to take Letrozole over Clomid, I just pray it works because I'm turning 36 this month and really don't want to wait much longer. Hi I need help! ttc for 18 months...fsh levels day 3 have been up and down 17.1 then 7.5. This time FSH 3.3 but estogen high (supposedly this can suppress fsh) day 23 progesteron was only 2. today is day 26 and after ultrasound and bloodtest i was told that i did not ovulate and must take provera. i have regular periods 26-28 days.

On days 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 I need to take 1T/day of Letrozole (to stimulate folicle growth). From day 8 onwards 2T/day of Progynova (to ensure thickening of my uteral lining) and from the 3rd day after ovulation, I need to take Duphaston. I can tolerate Letrozole and Duphaston without any problems. But Progynova gives me horrible side effects: dizziness, extreme low energy level and anxiety attacks (never had anxiety before).

If you are still seeing your OB and not a RE, that could be the reason for concern writing you a RX for it. When I went back to my OB to begin my prenatal care, she asked how I ended up getting pg. When I told her about letrozole, she said she never heard of it. So....keep your head up. It can and it does work!!!

i was on the clomid n it did nothing but my doc put me on the norcolut for me to have a period n then letrozole to start on the second day of period i just finished my frist cycle so i have my fingers crossed an waitin an i also hear alot of girls said it works for them

Sometimes clomid, although it makes women with PCOS ovulate, causes the uterine lining (or endometrium) to be too thin to support a pregnancy. Letrozole does not have this side effect. Another set of drugs to consider are injection fertility drugs. It is pretty common for clomid to fail - only about 50% of women who ovulate on clomid actually get pregnant. For those who do not get pregnant on clomid, the success rate with the injections is very good.

My husband and I have been trying for almost 1 year. I was on Clomid for 6 months and last cycle switched to Letrozole. Now my period is 4 days late and 2 pregnancy tests say NEGATIVE - this is killing me! My OB has told me I will have to take progesterone to bring on my period. I had been using clomid, but my lining is very thin so my RE switched me. It worked great for me. On clomid I had 2 follies. On letrozole I had 6! I didn't get a BFP but it was bc my progesterone was too low. I liked it much better than clomid-no side effects at all. Good luck to you!

I did a little research on my own and found that Letrozole is actually much safer than clomid. I've been on letrozole for three months now, and I don't have any of the side effect I had with clomid. my friend used a mucle building podwer for awhile that i think had a pro hormone in it. he hadnt taken it for a while and was towards the bottom of the barrel. I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month, finally miss a cycle, and it's negative? I had my 1st appt with an RE today. He wants to do a superovulation / IUI with Letrozole. I am to take 2 - 2.5mg tablets days 3 - 7. After reading up on this, it is the same thing as Femara right? The only things that I have tried in the past are 4 cycles of clomid and 1 IUI. Why would he skip injectables??
