I have the same problem in the summer and it really is upsetting because i love to swim in the sea:-( I live in Malta and every summer it is the same. It's definately the salt water here because if i don't swim for a few days then the spots go away. There are lots of tiny whiteheads on my chin and my nose, forehead.
I don't want to have to stay out of the water all summer again :-(

See your doctor for a topical retinoid called Differin (adapalene 0.1%). This is very good at dealing with blackheads and acne. Do not try to remove the blackheads by squeezing as this can spread bacteria under the skin causing more breakouts. It can also delay healing and lead to secondary infection.
A good face wash for oily skin is Estee Lauder's Sparkling Clean. Washing alone will not heal acne or blackheads so do ask your doctor about Differin.
Currently I am taking 100mg of Synthroid. Last summer I finally was able to convince my PCP to prescribe Armour Thyroid instead. This was due to still having constant "brain-fog" and cystic back acne from the synthroid (both my PCP and a dermatologist insisted the synthroid was not giving me acne, but within weeks of going off it and on to Armour the acne went completely away).

I have a 17 year old son who continues to have moderate acne despite several trips to the dermatologist. We have tried several prescription medications with no relief. He has been on a course of antibiotics as well as many topical creams. We have also tried ProActiv w/ no relief. I DO NOT want to put my son on Accutane. Can anyone offer any advise?
