1532322 tn?1292178743 I would like to know how you cope with anxiety of driving in snow & icey conditions! I am extremly fearful of the snow &ice .
1785438 tn?1314987935 I have had severe anxiety for about 4 years now. I was taking Klonopin and Celexa, but felt that they really weren't working anymore as I was still having horrible anxiety. I also don't want to be on such heavy medication for the rest of my life, so I decided to go off the meds. I really didn't have a plan when I stopped taking my meds. The klonopin, I sort of tapered off, but the celexa I just stopped taking because I ran out and didn't go pick up the next script.
Avatar m tn m going to the doctor on Thursday to talk to him about getting medication for my driving related anxiety. My therapist is going to fax him a letter too of what I'm suffering from so he can give me something that'll suit me. Thanks again for you comments.
Avatar n tn If I have a passanger in the car, and it happens, it is unbearably uncomfortable cause Iam trying to hide it, and am concerned about their safety all while trying to stay calm while my head is racing at a million miles an hour. It is ever worse if I am the passenger!! So much so that I just do not take a ride with anyone anymore. I want my life back.
Avatar f tn Did you bring a lawsuit against the woman? If you did, there may be a way to get the therapy paid for even though you have a preexisting condition. Basically it is kind of a form of PTSD. Just a thought and I don't know if it would even be covered.
Avatar f tn I have to drive my kids to school every day 25 miles, then drive around ALL day doing my jobs, then drive home at night, plus all their sports. Driving causes me extreme anxiety. WhenI know I don't have to drive, I am better, but I can spend days worrying about driving. I am so tense during driving that by the time I get to my destination, I am keyed up, cannot breath, am lightheaded, and sometimes eventually have an attack. My whole life centers around driving.
Avatar f tn reading about it dont help it will just heighten your anxiety, the recorded deaths are tragic, but in comparrison to the success rate of themit do put it in to a prospective, just tell your fears to the person who is going to give you the needle ask any questions you need to ask and remember they cannot force you to have anything done that you dont wish to have done.
Avatar f tn m sorry you feel this way and have such great fear of snow. While it is reasonable to have fear of driving in snow---- perhaps you are talking about the level of your reaction? I know that I too do not like driving in snow. I live in an area where there is often ice beneath it and have had a few bad driving experiences. So . .. I get my groceries (like EVERYONE else, wow, our grocery is packed if there is bad weather in the forecast . . .
590280 tn?1310087366 i stay away from anyone or anyplace that is likely to be using, buying or selling. i try to stay close to people who are serious about recovery. i remember how bad it can get, and i haven't forgotten how to pray. oxycontin was my best friend to the tune of 600-800 mg a day as was alcohol. my best friend almost killed me and i saw it kill others, only after it took away their dreams, relationships and dignity and reduced them to empty shells of what they once were.
Avatar n tn I have had a toothache/facepain for over two weeks, I know I need to go and see a dentist but I have a great fear of going because of cetain circumstances that happened while going to the dentist as a child. I have been taking advil for the pain and most times it is tolerable but now it seems to be getting worse as it is keeping me awake at night.
Avatar m tn But take it a couple times before bed to see how much it affects you and/or to build tolerance to the heavy sedating effect that is possible. Or a weaker benzodiazepine would work. See a doctor.
Avatar n tn I know it is due to the fear of driving and thinking I will pass out. I went to the doctor and he gave me medication for the axiety, but I still have the light headness while driving. I don't have this problem outside the car. However, I do get headaches on the left side of head. I am concerned since it is progessively getting worse. Unfortunately for me, I was recently laid off of my job and no longer have health insurance. Any suggestions.
Avatar m tn Each time, I'm driving at least 80 kilometre per hour . It's always in the morning. And it starts with my feeling a little dizzy, then my vision starts narrowing, my hands start feeling cold and clammy, and I start feeling extremely disoriented. Each and every time, I've managed to get my car off the road, fortunately, and it takes me several minutes to clear my head enough to drive again.
Avatar m tn s where exposure therapy came in. I assume I developed that fear due to having a huge attack while driving. After an attack in the car, I completely avoided driving. For the exposure therapy, I felt bullied by my Psychologist to force myself to drive by myself without a phone and far away from my home. I felt like I needed to take baby steps in order for this to be effective, but my Psychologist told me that I have to really push myself and Drive.

Avatar f tn To overcome anxiety, one must understand the logic of why the brain is feeling threatened, it sends messages to the body saying its under threat. New pathways need to be created to overcome the old programming. So for example, if you panic over a fear of flying, you must start flying and let the brain realise that its all okay, and reprogram the thoughts. However, the fear of dying can't really be practiced. Some buddhists meditate in a morgue as it is the closest we can get to dying.
8377023 tn?1399509160 My biggest fear out of everything is my water breaking while driving their car. I am absolutely terrified that this is going to happen. I have already gotten contractions while driving with one of the twins, thankfully the contractions weren't crazy bad, and this happened today. I dont know what to do besides calling their aunt, Chris, my mom and my doctor. Like what should I tell their aunt if that happens? To just meet me at the hospital or what?
Avatar f tn Talk this over with your parents so they can get you therapy to learn how to break free of this fear. Good luck and take care!
Avatar f tn To be honest, it makes me feel bad to hide this from my husband but if I have to get professional help, I will have to tell him. I would like to see how far I can go by managing this by myself before I think I am falling off the wagon again. Then maybe I do have to tell him. I would like to tell you that I am very appreciative of your response. It is not everyday that I get to talk about this with someone.
Avatar f tn m becoming housebound because of my fear of driving. I just got on my husbands insurance and am thinking of going to the doctor. Though, I'm afraid it's not anxiety and it will not be diagnosed easily. I just want this to be over. I want to be normal!
Avatar f tn If it helps this started about 5 years ago when I chugged a monster and had a panic attack at night while driving. Also I used to smoke I just quit about 4 days ago and yeah. I’m not sure if anyone else has felt this but it’s rrally starting to ruin my life because I can’t go out and have fun because I feel like I’m going to pass out or anything. Please help me!!!
1074864 tn?1256932915 That is what the therapy will help you to overcome...how to cope with the anxiety when it hits. Also, if you are out somewhere and have a PA, try as hard as you can to avoid the temptation to "flee". That just sets the tone for the next time. The more you endure them, ride them out while staying where you are...the more you will associate that location with success....and your brain will recognize that nothing bad INDEED happened, that you made it thru just fine.
Avatar f tn The thing is sometimes I do feel like I dont have anything and I believe it, but when I get sick or see/feel something wrong on my body , I quickly associate it to HIV. I want to get pass it but it seems that I can never remove that fear because I always think of a "what if" I know for sure the condom never broke plus the last sex worker was straight foward that she was clean and recommended me a place if I ever needed to test for std , instructing me also to be careful with girls.
